  1. Hey dude i have pretty much a whole R34 interior i have the window switch and all the centre console
  2. So have you been modifying locating points or just changing settings? Wonder how much i can transfer to the 34
  3. So I cant seem to edit my last post... Once again this is kind of more for me to keep all my thoughts in once place so i can refer back so i dont have a heap of little pcs of paper floating around to get lost and people can tell me if im doing something wrong or a different way of doing something. In the Neo Head i need to weld up the VCT oil feed, then tap in a Fitting in the front of the head for the feed and run a fitting from the oil filter sandwich plate to the fitting in the head for the feed. The Neo doesnt seem to run a dedicated VCT drain unlike the non Neo's so dont need to worry there. Secondly i will have to plug the 1st feed in the RB30 block and then run a 1.25mm restrictor at the back of the block. Then im going to drill 2 AN8 drains in the back of the head instead of the single AN10 from the welsh plug. Then run them directly into the Sump. Also while the heads off i will get the die grinder out and remove any casting marks and troughs for the oil to sit in and channel them into the original drains. In the block i am reading that its best to run a 3/8 or 9.5mm drill bit into the oil drains to open them up abit will just have to double check that against the HG. For the time being im going to fab up a larger sump to try and get another 1 or 2L of oil volume but im also looking at getting a Dailey 5 Stage Dry Sump Pump so then will obviously build a dry sump for it and run a new oil feed. As for the Tensioner pulley it seems to be abit of a suck it and see noone seems to have a indicative place to put it so that will possibly depend on when i get it where i like the look of unless someone has some better knowledge than myself. Cheers Guys
  4. Well the whole cage is tacked in place i have dropped the drivers seat probs 40mm so have also dropped steering colum. Feels very different so low but from just a quick strap down the driveway feels alot better. Next issue is engine build. Wanting something that can go out to the track and if something goes wrong can do a quick changeover. But still keep it kinda on a budget. So thinking a RB30/25 build most common part to fail is going to be main bearings/rod bearings so if i can build a Neo head with tensioner in it then i can have a couple of RB30 blocks at home ready for a change over. So i have been trying to read through the 30 million rb30/25 build threads and i wish that there was one stickied that just had the important info on it. I know that the neo head is lower cc so technically it needs dished pistons but going to have a look at if we can cc the head enough to drop the CR or run a thicker MLS HG. Can anyone show me some pics on what exactly needs to be welded/drilled etc..
  5. Would be keen on suspension components if they endup for sale? Im in adelaide too
  6. Most painfull bar to install sofar but its bent at 20* so that it gives some extra clerance at the steering wheel. But going to be dropping the seat, lower steering colum to get some helmet room
  7. Not too much more tonight but door bars are coming together sainz bar next then move to the drivers side
  8. Cheers buddy hopefully pickup some polycarb this week and do polycarb windows soon too. Its all happening now
  9. For the guys on here who might not have seen my build thread i started. http://www.sau.com.au/forums/index.php?/topic/452046-R34-Gtt-First-Track-Build R34 Gtt First Track Build
  10. well a solid weekend didnt quite get as much as i wanted done but front hoops are in, windscreen bar is in and roof bars are in. And of course cant forget my puppy. He loves being in and around the car while im working on it. So doorbars are mocked up in string and also steinz bar its going to be fun to get in and out of but rather not be restricted to events not having it. Had a chat to the bloke who is log booking it and he said its best to have it so in it goes. Hopefully get them in place this week and weld it all up saturday. Also have a rough design for my signage for sponsors
  11. Rear section is all done now to start the front half and then weld everything up... Harness mounts
  12. This cage the other night nearly broke me. Ive been doing steel fabrication for 3years now and this tipped me over the edge. Left for the night then came back friday and everything has been ticking like clockwork changed how i was doing things i was trying to do my notched with a holesaw and a jerryrigger platform on the drill press and nothing was working. Ended up finding a program called Tubemiter and you punch in the tube diameter, wall thickness and the angle of attack and it gives you a printout and you wrap it around the pipe and cut to suit then a small amount of dremel use and it all fits mint So i am finally upto this stage Main hoop, backstay, braces, harness bar, and the backstay braces are in. Ending up with a collection of these tubes And cant forget the faithfull helper
  13. Deleted post
  14. Actually i have some pics of my fuel cell im making too. Not much yet but the 'V' in the middle drops towards the centre so that i can mount twin 255's intank to feed the surge setuo
  15. Its been a while since ive updated the thread but alot has happened recently. I missed my most recent track day as went to dyno the car and with all TCS and ABS etc removed the ECU had a spaz and seems to be all erratic with the tune so decided to fix that issue... I present haltech PS1000 so once that turns up will be making a new engine loom for it. In the meantime thought i would try my hand at building my first cage so this is just from today l. Firstly removing the old parcel tray so that instead of mounting to tubs we can do from strut top to strup top Then took a heap of measurements and the old measure twice cut once well it was measure 20 times bend once and all worked out pretty well Now with my base plates i have tried to pickup the original brace points but obviously welded in to help triangulate that area. Still keeps within CAMS regs so i like it Hopefully work on it abit more this week get abit more progress on the cage before the haltech turns up
  16. Yeah fair enough i can see it being in the way of weekend use if not in full competition. My aim though is to build it once unfortunatley i have walked away from 2 previous builds when i did something once then before it was even on the track so this time i want to build it once. But yeah i can see where your coming from. My plan is to compete in Targa and possibly World Time Attack later this year. Im not 100% on cage design and feel free to tell me differently if i over engineer the design and add in as many bars as allowable on schedule J its not like i will be restricted from events because the cage it too over designed if that makes sence obviously without going overboard and adding in heaps of weight. As for this weekend i have managed to remove all ABS, TCS, Airbag and HICAS Modules this week i will be redoing the brake lines to bypass the ABS pump in the engine bay. Also all AC and Heater units have been removed. Possibly 1/4 of the gear i have removed Also decided that im going to go down the path of Haltech stand alone ECU as then i can run a Flex Fuel sensor and i can still run the VCT while doing away with AFM aswell. Why did i use an R34 as a base there are so many computers and so much wiring!
  17. Yeah i had a browse through your thread and printed off a couple of pics as inspiration. You have done your roof bars and your back bars how im doing mine aswell having one big 'X' meeting at the centre of the main hoop sounds to me as the best and strongest way of doing it. Also howcome you dont have the bar from lower foot of your A pillar to top of the windscreen? My cars over 200mm is the 33 under or is yours not cams certified? Yeah i cant see a whole lot of sense going to the towers as its not really a structural point considering the cars are a double a arm setup the towers wouldnt see as much loading as most cars would. Yeah budget in this is a huge factor my fiancé and i have just bought our first house so bills and mortgage take preferance so im doing pretty much all the work i possibly can myself and that in itself is kinda rewarding. Takes longer but means i know that sofar noone else has done anything to the car
  18. Awesome build. Keen to try get my wiring tidied up like that but ABS, TCS and electronic HICAS is making my life HELL! but will be well and truly relieved once it looks like yours keen to keep following the thread
  19. Got pics of the section they removed? Yeah thats pretty much where im at saves getting a strut brace plus removes extra sheet metal. Yeah stock fuel tank is coming out anyway going to be going a 90L fuel cell and a 3L surge with twin 255 lift pumps and twin 044 feed pumps. Its all massive overkill currently but really dont want to build it 3 times. Also what do most people do with the front of the cage to the firewall? Obviously not being mac strut style is there any point going upto the strut towers?
  20. So it has now run outta rego so no more street driving. I have just ordered about 40m or rollcage steel so that should be in, in the next week or so. In the mean time im trying to look through other R34 cage builds as i reckon im gonna take out a heap of the rear parcel shelf and the rear seat backing so that i can build the cage into the rear strut tops instead of onto the rear wheel wells. Has anyone got an opinion on that? Also just tossing up between building a fuel cell to my exact needs or buying one thats kinda what i want. Buying one is wayyy cheaper thats the problem. Also removing all un needed interior panels and wiring. Hicas computer, abs module and Airbag module are also coming out. So its getting there slowly. Aim is 1300kg fully caged
  21. Cheers buddy, yeah i like it too but i think its going to have to be removed soon unfortunatley i didnt think i was going to go down the track of a front facing plenum anytime soon but im making my own as we speak so the intake pipes arent going to clear the oil lines DOH! So it might be up for sale at some stage and i will possibly make a coolant, oil catch and PS resivour all in one on the pass side
  22. So i have an ISC 52mm alloy rad coming be here hopefully next week so that will hopefully help with cooling issues. Also has a 16" thermo on it so im gonna make a decent shroud for that and then remove the stock clutch fan. Im also hopefully gonna order some whiteline swaybars this weekend going to go with 27mm front and 24mm rear
