  1. So cars been wrapped up again for awhile. Fly out tomorrow so see when i get home anyway laid some glass on the quarters and love the shape so im stoked! anyway both brake brackets are done, not quite cnc but i cant workout computers anyway lol. all tucked in till next time. have a rough plan for building some of my own front hubs with some bigger bearings and more adjustability etc so might toy with that idea while im away. if anyones got any feedback im keen to hear it!
  2. well flare is sorted and decided lol. going the ztune style and it looks amazing i love it! once its all smoothed off it should look awesome! soooo happy after all the years also brakes are done and fit. millimeter perfect! haha
  3. okay need some feedback... front guards atm i just kinda threw some corflute at it and made up a ztune style flare and i kinda dig it. whats your guys thoughts or the bolt on style flare
  4. What an awesome day!! fiberglass laid over all the bits that need some work so tomorrow will be laying bog on and getting ready to start smoothing it all off and getting it ready to make the mould. Also the brakes are proving to be abit of a headache as they dont clear inside the wheel so will have abit more of a play with that and possibly have to sit the caliper down abit lower on the disk, so see how that goes.
  5. so weather today is killer was gonna go for a ride on the crf but decided that it was too good to miss so started laying some glass so i can start smoothing it all off. In the meantime letting it all dry i have been tinkering with the brakes that i got god knows how long ago.. so adapters have been made and fitted to a wheel and they touck the wheel weights so im going to take them back off and shave them abit more try to gain a couple of mm clearance to the wheel but see how we go. First actual part i have made on the new mill. everything else has been making swarf and ruining expensive blocks of alloy lol.
  6. Home for another 3 days and then flying out to bendigo. yesterday wasnt too bad but todays gonna be mid 40's so out nice n early and try get something done to the pig. Front end is taking shape and finally happy with the shape and progress with it all. see how we go with temps today hopefully get some glass laid down so i can start sanding and smoothing it all to get ready for making the mould
  7. Wow im terrible at keeping this thread updated but to be honoust so much other stuff has been happening and chaing jobs etc has been a pain in the ass but anyway it sits there and gets the car cover taken off from time to time and cleaned. For now the past 2-3 years i have been helping out a young lad who lives in our town with a formula vee and he has been doing awesome and has decided he wasnt to build a sports sedan so in starting to build his for him he has got me enthused for mine and with the thunder sports category and all the new cars around i reckon im going to hit it hard and get it done! anyway noone want to read they want some pics so this will be like the 3rd revision of the front end and i think this time ill be happy with it and hopefully able to make a mould of it all. so anyway a couple of pics of the formula vee ive been helping out with.
  8. ive actually got 2 holley fuel mats one in each leg of the tank but basically if you take your lid im going to run a tube down from it inside the tank thats 120mm diameter put a bottom on it and have pumps inside, will do abit of a sketch later. Once i have some pics ill post some up ive been tinkering on my patrol and been going out camping heaps latley
  9. Good to still see you out and about mate. I actually took the car cover off the R34 the other day and was wondering how yours was going. I have actually just started tinkering with mine again since the fuel system died on me and i like your lid you made for the stock tank. Im keeping stock tank because i like it being over the diff and it sits at floor pan height. Any fuel cell i fab will be behind rear axle and will be another 200-300mm heigher and i just dont see it being practical.. Im actually planninh on building my surge tank into the main tank lid tho. Kinda hard to describe but i might have to start getting my old thread back up and running.
  10. So i havent done a whole lot on the car in the past couple of months just work takes up so much time uo here and then spending some time with the missus doesnt leave a whole lot left over for the race car but hopefully i will be getting back into it again but have just been collecting some goodies and these just arrived. Woohoooo loving the support from Josh at MCA happy to answer any questions ive had and offer setup suggestions etc.. so loving having them onboard
  11. SHE LIVES!!!! https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10214043214744556&id=1537167533
  12. So i have finally managed to get a little bit done primarily tidy up wiring and just make the whole office abit more appealing. So oil system is buttoned up, oil cooler mounted, filter mounted, new oil pressure sensor mounted. Radiator has been filled up and found a leak [emoji20] bugger not terrible but will need to be fixed obviously but that has all bled up alright so pretty happy with all that. So with the wiring i have ditched the Autometer gauges and am now running all GM sensors, oil pressure, coolant temp, IAT and LS9 Map sensor so now its all digital and can view it on the Tablet/Dash. Im happy its a shitload tidier than my first attempt and i have learnt alot this time around for the next attempt one day. So going to WTAC this weekend so im sure that will ignite some enthusiasm to press on ALSO YES I WILL BE PAINTING THE CRABBING SIGN I JUST HAVENT HAD ANY TIME
  13. Cheers guys, yeah i started it in this section because i never intended on it being anymore than a daily/weekend track day car but that seems to have fallen by the way side. Progress has dropped right off again ended up getting crook as a dog and realised that working 7 days then 7 nights really did need a break and going out to the shed every day just drove me into the ground unfortunatley. But there will be more updates, this car come out from under the covers every time just takes me a while at times
  14. yeah the tablet has a micro usb slot for Data/Charging so i got a hub thingy that plugs into it and has 4 other usb slots so that i can have a keyboard/mouse plugged in and the haltech and charge it all at once
  15. Dont have any pics of it running as the cars in bits but this is what i have setup as the display. The dots around the outside are progressive shift lights every 500rpm incriment in different colours etc.. the 2 dial gauges are oil pressure and coolant temp as i just like a visual of where its at rather than reading numbers. The middle zeros are RPM number display at the top, Speed underneath, MAP pressure and finally Volts at the bottom. Then under the 2 gauges i have a red light for if the oil pressure drops below 10psi or if the coolant exceeds 110°C. Yes its not as pretty as the Racepak etc but like i said before $1500 saving, well thats ALOT of track time that will be a whole lot more beneficial to my lap times than a fancy dash
  16. So i still have to get some pictures but i got myself a HP Stream 7 tablet, its a 7" screen and i have setup one of the display screensas a dash and i love it! In the settings i was able to set the screen to not switch off or dim untill the off button is pressed. I got an anti glare screen protector and sat in the backyard with helmet on in full sun and could still see it clearly. Yep when i get to the track i have to turn it on an boot the software.. generally while the cars on the trailer anyway. Got a car charger usb for it and it has a 5A fused charge feed, no converters or anything so that was easy. For mounting i got one of the protector cases, pushed the screen cover out of it and screwed through the back of it to the ally sheet dash. It took some thinking and problem solving but at the end of the day i paid $75 for the tablet and can remember what for the case and charge cable but it wouldnt owe me more than $100 so thats left me alot left over for sensors and track time. Plus i will be able to store tunes on there so i can have a low boost, high boost etc... and the added bonus of while im in the pits i can watch movies if i didnt break anything hahahaha
  17. I am just as keen as you!! Haha hopefully by the end of the year. Now i just have to workout when my roster aligns with track days
  18. Cheers buddy but there are alot of guys on here with alot more knowledge and experience that i have and i like hearing there ideas of possibly stuff i have missed or not planned for in the future etc.. i like bouncing ideas off people and i guess now moving away i dont have the same kinda group of people to bounce ideas off lol noone up here in the red dust tries for grip lol
  19. No criticism's? I cant be doing everything right lol. Comeone guys give me some feedback lol
  20. So just at the end of my week off again and didnt get as much done as i would have liked but oh well you get that some times. I have added the oil cooler to the passenger side of the radiator and finalised the duct work that will meet up with the bonnet. I have also started to make up my wing mounts. Initially out of some MDF and have since replicated them to ally Its a big wing!! I also wasnt too happy with how stable it was so i have made a section that comes out the tail lights that will add some vertical loading strength Also my order from Aeroflow rocked up so started on making lines for the turbo and still need to do my oil lines I managed to clean up a heap of the random coolant lines that normally sit under the plenum with a welsch plug in the T-stat housing and then just an AN6 to 3/4 NPT fitting in the back for the turbo coolant drain So untill next time have fun everyone!!
  21. So it was the last day of my week off so not much will be happening for the next fortnight. But i did manage to start making the duct from the radiator to the bonnet. I made a timber template of the shape i wanted then if you trace it onto the ally sheet and give yourself 15mm overhang than you can clamp the mdf and ally together and dolly over the edges. This gives you a nice edge to either weld or screw to but it also stiffens up the whole panel as it is no longer a flat sheet. This was a neat little trick i saw on facebook on another build thread and it worked surprisingly well for me so thought i would share it. I have also made the radiator expansion tank, because the radiator is so low and flat everything sits higher than it so this should hopefully help with bleeding the coolong system off as the turbo coolant drain will 'T' into this hose aswell. I have also dropped the engine 15mm and pushed it back 10mm. So the engine/gearbox are now solid mounted so that should be interesting the forst time it starts up! Now with all the engine moving, the front end redesign etc the IC pipework still fits... grabbed it all off the shelf to see where i might need to start cutting and fabbing up new elbows etc and it just slid straight on.... I have also dummied up the dry sump pump mount but i need to either find someone that i can get to CNC me something that isnt going to cost a fortune or im just going to wait untill i can buy a mill and make something myself! I also mounted the new Peterson 400 series oil filter Now i have 2 weeks on and i cant see much happening but i will be ordering more parts!! So untill then shoot me messages asking what ever you guys might want to know and sorry that the posts are sometimes few and fat between!!
  22. Wow it would seem ALOT has happened in the past couple of months.. that previous front end got ripped off and thrown in the bin and a whole new front has been designed and made up.. will let the pictures do the talking then i cut the front end off the car Then starting to play around with intercooler/radiator angles for good flow Then onto cutting up the radiator for the new inlet/outlets (ongoing) Now making up moulds for the fiberglass ducting Some completed fiberglass pics Ive also cut off the rest of the surrounding sheet metal forward of the shock towers I have also started mocking up the new front end design More has been happening recently but i dont have pics yet so will do another big update sooner than the last one lol
  23. Yeah but they seem to be extremely painfull to deal with.. there is an ATI balancer on here for $480 in 2011 and now the same person hes relisted it in a new thread for $550 and wont budge lol. Ah well
