i sort of like the idea of a 1 way street it would as you have said give the drivers alot more room especially if they did make a mistake doing a burnout etc. meh i was not there on saturday so cant really comment but looking at the video the lack of safety in place was pretty average and i agree it is hardly the drivers fault...

Wow,

So, the summernats usual news article was replaced by a mis-hap that occured. What a knee jerk reaction, I'm sure there was heaps of great things at the nats that have not been on the news.

Motorsport, cars and their associated activities are dangerous, if you don't like that fact don't leave home. Honstly, its that simple. No matter what types of fencing they put up, however far away the people are there is still a chance that people will get hurt when cars are doing their thing.

I agree, now looking back a larger barrier would have been a great idea, but given the number of years the nats have been running without one - would you have included them?

the driver has other pressures on him too. CAPA would have wanted him to put on a good show so people remember the brand, the nats want a good show and so does the crowd. I don't think he was going near 140 when it happend, and within reson honestly it appeared he was doing the right thing.

I was standing down the other end of the track when it happened, but I did see it happen quite clearly, also watching the footage of it, just seems that the driver had too much angle when he entered the corner and tried too hard to correct it, so it swung round the other way too hard and went into the fence mid corner.

i think the media made it sound worse than what it actually was. the canberra times has always put a dampener on it by the way the journo's write the articles. it always from an outside perspective, never writen by some one of a younger age that has even a mild interest in it.....

but when you're in a situation like that, drifting on dirt in front of a crowd, i'm sure you're inkling towards a correction than a spin out gus...

I would try to correct it too!

That said, its drifting and things like looses that happen to the best drivers.

i know for a fact that the capa crew only got the thumbs up from work cover and insurance because when they were demonstraiting what they would be doing they were only doing it in 3rd gear and i know from the horses mouth being bolger! that he was in 6th gear in the monaro coupe and he was saying it was hooking up on the gravel in my opinion its totally the drivers fault not capas has any one actually met the drivers here like i know they can drive but they are not a caring bunch for others (first hand experience)

just my two cents

i saw all this happen from the grand stand on sat night and from the first lap when the black ute spun out i knew something was going to happen

................. has any one actually met the drivers here like  i know they can drive but they are not a caring bunch for others (first hand experience)...............

Sounds like an arrogant asshole, that "thinks" he is top shit <_<

well im not tryin to start any thing but people who would drive in a situation where there is potentional injury wouldnt go flat out its just common sense thats what im getting at i spent all this weekend working around these people and they do not im my opinion care for othe people would you do burnout with people sitting behind you so they can be showered in rubber no! thats what im getting at becaues thats what i saw them doin

would you do burnout with people sitting behind you so they can be showered in rubber no!
That's practically what every driver does on the cruise route. Actually I reckon if any spectator goes home without their shins covered in burnt rubber they didn't get close enough to the action :(

k so what happens when a bike does it?

which stupid me forgot to say that what it was on

and i for got to say it was in a pavilllion with people siiting with no where to go and whayi think i will bite my tounge on this one

this is just my opinion of it all and i will shut the F$%^ up

    • That looks good, but I think you're going to need much beefier side skirts now.
    • They are daft and there's a reason it never caught on. Steering feel? We don't need no stinking steering feel!
    • I gotta pull you up on this. It's driving me crazy. A shutter is something that closes, like over a window or in a cmera. The word you want is shudder. That LSD is clearly f**ked. Take it to a diff shop and get it disassembled and examined by an expert. YOu might have plates welded together or something equally crazy.
    • Define "starting to fail". Wy not just rebuild them?
    • Check the Nistune doco. There are a few assumptions being made here that might not be valid. I will list the things that occur to me: Base map. Base map for what? Base map for Z32? Then the cranking pulse width is probably wrong for an RB25. The extra 500cc of capacity might well be enough to prevent it from catching. Base map for RB25? I don't think you can load one of those into a Z32. You have to just make the settings correct for an RB25 in the Z32 base map. That is either K or the TIM to get the pulsewidth right. Loom. You bought a loom for an RB. And you plugged it into a Z32 ECU. Did you make sure that any iwre differences were swapped. From memory, there's at least a couple. And as per the others, I would suggest making sure that the fuel pressure is correct while cranking and that the injectors are actually flowing as expected. They really must come out and go on the bench, unless you do find that you have messed up as per above points. I would also suggest watching in Nistune to make sure that everything is reading correctly. That the correct binary flags are raised at the right time (like the crank signal), that there's no stupid values in K or TIM. That you have not got mismatched firmware for the ECU and/or a wrong image loaded.
