nar, i am just starting the build... it is still practically stock atm... getting a 6 point cage soon and a proper race seat and harness set-up(6point)..

i did FOSC Bathurst last month (BEST TRACK EVER! 231km/h in a basicly stock motor 1.8L N/A is awesome down conrod :D) and have been competing in NSW CAMS Super Sprint topping my class (2b and faster then 3B) now i am more hooked then ever and want to get in to proper racing :D being just 19 yrs of age is the perfect age... got in to it through my old man as he is very much in to the track scene with his modified 90' MX-5 Turbo..

Joined up as a mate (MattD) told me 2 join up and 2 see if i could make it to some Canberra event you guys are holding.. but cant make it this yr maybe next yr when they car is closer 2 completion ;)

I plan on getting my cams license soon (L2 speed) and starting out in some club sprints/trackdays etc.

I also have a question regarding insurance. I am currently on my p's and i'm looking to get some insurance for my car (S13 Onevia).

Are shannons more likely to give me insurance because I have a cams license/compete in club/track events even though I'm on my P's and under the age of 25?

I had Just Car insurance on my previous car, and I was very unimpressed with their customer service/cover etc..

Just renewed my National Rally Nav Licence.

Paid extra for their super quick processing and it still took over 3 weeks for it to arrive in the letterbox grrrrrrrrr

CAMs could learn a thing or two from AASA when it comes to licencing.

hmm and as usual for cams "rush" license it literally turned up the day after you left for the event. glad we paid extra for that "service"

the dickheads can't even send out licenses on time, its no wonder people would rather deal with aasa.

    • Squealing is aids. Street cars, weekend track cars are not allowed to squeal.
    • The front speakers in an R32 are 6x4s which is a shit size. You can fit 6.5" woofers or coaxials in there but you need to make a mounting board from MDF. I have a post on here somewhere showing what I made. You can fit 6.5" in the parcel shelf easily enough. If upgrading the head unit, the stock speaker wiring is not really fat enough to run big speakers (ie the wires into the doors or up to the rear) because the amplifiers are located next to the speakers. Running new speaker wires front and rear is a good idea anyway.
    • Been ages since I did anything on the s15 but got some time and motivation over the weekend. Brakes are now fitted with fresh seals, hardware and pads. Bolted up with the alpha omega brackets, just waiting on 2 fittings and sensors to Bleed them. With that done moved onto the fuel system. The injectors have been cleaned ,flow tested, new filters and orings.  Made a bracket to hold the surge tank with surge tank and pumps mounted then plumbed. Roll-over valve done too. Need to make a new loom and add individual relays for it all. Had new flange welded on inlet manifold for a bosch 74mm DBW throttle body.  Coolant bypass hose done with some fittings welded on now then soda blasted. Waiting on sensors to arrive to install and pwr for radiator and intercooler still. Getting to point of buying an ECU and looking like may be going something else as link doesn't have enough inputs.   Work has been awesome with first trip to Perth and now on the way to Darwin looking for a good result there.
    • It always makes me laugh when I hear things like this, when I was a young bloke I bought a old Mk1 Escort, one of my mates said "how do you expect to have a girlfriend in a old car like this", my reply was "if she doesn't like the car she can walk, and if she is more interested in the car I drive than me she can fark off" This is how you can tell if you have a good woman, they care not about things like the cars you drive or what it sounds like Pandering to crazy obsessed women who care more about how they look in a car than the person driving it is something that I've always kept away from Not saying my Mrs isn't crazy at times, but it's typically me being a idiot that incites the crazy 🤪
    • But where's the fun in that, for me it isn't about the money, I have money, and I have time, I enjoy the process of things, the picking parts, the "adventure" of it all, and for the bits I can do myself, the actual work is enjoyable, well, varying levels on enjoyment on hard to reach things like that farking thermostat I just changed
