Tried the search thing. Hope its OK to post here. Bought the R 31 with a dud front drivers door. Entry had to be from the passenger side and then open the inner latch to get door open. So far so good.

Had the car a couple of weeks and driving it everyday because my motorbike was in the shop. In the Woolies car park and get back to car, passenger door won't open. Nob thing tries to go up with key turn but something stops it and door won't open.

Stinking hot, try for 45 minutes, boot open, jack out, quarter window driver's side smashed to gain entry. :P Tough glass eh.

Next day off I'll be removing the inner cover to attempt to fix drivers side door, however the passenger door inner latch no longer works so door permanently locked. :D:)

So:

Can anyone direct me to a thread anywhere in the world that will assist me to fix drivers door and is there an alternative to a lump hammer and angle grinder and massive freak out to fix the passenger door. I'm not game to replace the quarter window in case I have to smash it again. Car is an 88 GXE 3.0 (Series 2?)

best idea krusty, is to pull the front seat out, then try get the door card off. The rods in the door have more then likely come off or jammed, if they're jammed just try given em a good yank (MAKE SURE U PUT A RAG ON THE DOOR BEHIND WHERE U HAVE YOUR HAND, U WILL GET DEEP CUTS IF U DON"T), if the rods have just come off just go to a wreckers & get some more rod clips. If the locks are jamming up might be an idea to get some 2nd hand door locks @ the same time.

Just ask the wreckers if u can have the full set of locks with the keys...

    • Sorry to hear your HFM BM57 was faulty,  did you contact HFM I would hope they would be at least grateful for the information if there was some sort of manufacturing fault, you would hope they would be sympathetic even if your item was 2 years old if it had never been fitted. May I ask where it leaked from ?
    • Cats are called Bella, and Donna...  Like that poisonous plant And I remember your 2 monsters, I remember making a little bit of wee when you let them out... LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
    • Not to mention they drive like a bucket of bolts! yuck!
