My tyres arent glued on, but damn randy those videos have re-kindled my interest in RC cars........I want a nitro!!!

Anyhow off to the plumbers co-op for some Pvc!

oh yeah im in for any drift day you have on aswell ;)

Edited by Dingo
lol! That's a bit TOO keen!

Now... how do I mount this mini-sub into the back of my RC...? ;op

LOL

and with the 50 hks stickers you put an the shell you will get 2kw each.

Need NOS for it too.

I havent read through most of this thread - so sorry if someones already posted it!

however in Asquith - near Mills Park theres a track there.

I havent played soccer there for a while but a couple of years ago when I was the track was there and looks pretty good. its built on the extremely old and gutted asquith bowling club of years ago.

hope that helps :D

LOL; maybe it's time to give the 34 a break an spend a grand just on an RC car...  you never know, it could end up going faster than the 34 :(

A race bred RC car will blow any Skyline away anyday.

About two years ago at one of those fund days at Oran park they asked us to coem and present our cars for the kids and stuff. They had a drag match between a V8 Supercar and a RC Nitro down the straight. There were three races.....the V8 never got close.

and it's a whole lot cheaper! =-D

Only slightly cheaper.

Decent Chassis : $600

Motors : $100 (racer usally stock anywhere from 3-20)

ESC : $250

Transmittor : $400

Servo : $ 150

Batteries : $80.00 a pop (min 6 sets) and replaced every 4 months

Chargers : $500

Power Supply : $200

Tools : $1500

Tyres : $100 a pop for around two meets

Bodies : $50.00

The list go's on and on

Thats why I gave it up...It's too expensive to race downunder. In the US and Hong Kong it's ten times cheaper as there are ten times more people doing it

What i did love about it though was it taught me racing dynamics, car setup concepts. You learn all about

Caster/Camber

Anti-Dive-Anti-squat

Roll Centres

Spring set up

Driving technique

Downforce

Patience

All these things I have been able to translate to my recently purchased line. Lovin it.

If anyone wants to buy a race chassis then PM me as I still have it around. It's a solid chassis which took me to two state titles (ACT). Details are below. I'm in Sydney.

Team Xray - Factory Kit 05

There are only two purpose built tracks in Sydney. One in Windsor abd one in Moorebank(Liverpool)...the rest are just netball courts witb rope for lanes and stuff

Only slightly cheaper.

Decent Chassis : $600

Motors : $100 (racer usally stock anywhere from 3-20)

ESC : $250

Transmittor : $400

Servo : $ 150

Batteries : $80.00 a pop (min 6 sets) and replaced every 4 months

Chargers : $500

Power Supply : $200

Tools : $1500

Tyres : $100 a pop for around two meets

Bodies : $50.00

You're talking full-on pro's though.. i'm talking "have a bit of fun drifting", which should read something like this!:

Chassis: HPI or Tamiya $200

Motors: Venom Fireball 13, 15 or 17 turn $30

ESC: Comes with the chassis

Transmittor: Comes with the chassis

Servo: Comes with the chassis

Batteries: Venom 3000mAh $29 each

Charger: $100 tops for a digital one

Power supply: wtf?

Tools: alen keys, tyre wrench, screwdriver. Come with the chassis

Tyres: rims come with the chassis, PVC is next to free

Bodies: yeah, if you change it, otherwise; comes with the chassis

So... $360 for the lot with one battery and one motor

That's affordable for just having fun without going hardcore =-]

Oh.. spent an hour driving out to Asquith... found the bowls club, found the soccer field... found one of the greens was made out of asphalt. No track though. The asphalt was loose gravel and not even good for normal onroad races. =-[

LOL; maybe it's time to give the 34 a break an spend a grand just on an RC car...  you never know, it could end up going faster than the 34

if you want to do that, buy mine. Tamiya TGX, 1/8th scale. size 15 nitro engine, plus full ball bearing set, and 2 SPEED gearbox. top speed of nearly 80kph and acceleration faster than the original. plus it's AWD and comes with a GTR body. and does lovely dohnuts. and i have not played with it in over a year as i have too many real cars to occupy me. :(

i'm serious, buy it! make me an offer and i'm bound to take it...

OK... Castle Hill raceway is a slab of concrete until the club people turn up on Fridays and lay the track down. There'd be a fee and no nitro, stock motor rules, and no drifting. Looks like we're going to have to bring stuff to make a track when we meet!

Power extension cables work well... they're heavy enough not to move when the wind picks up, but you have to reposition them when someone comes off.

What do you all think about meeting at Curl Curl netball courts with a bunch of crap to make a track? I'd guess a Saturday or Sunday would suit most?

yer wife has an RC? Wicked =-]

Well... homebush is fine with me too... as long as there's enough people there, and we have some form of track. Places like Homebush usually have security guards that will move you along, and I don't think they'll take kindly to us setting up a makeshift track =-[

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
    • When you pulled it off, there is no signs of blown head gasket? Is it possible you have some other issues going on? Possible cracked blocked? Or do you think it's straight up lifting the head? Did you check what the head was torqued to before pulling it down (To see if possibly they're stretching, or starting to break threads out etc)?
    • Seems like a decent result for a modded JZX110. They are bulky in comparison to the 100 and 90 models (which I'd prefer myself) but they are getting very few and far between here in JP these days. Thanks for the detailed review and the import process into the UK. I also have a car which I'm hoping to export from Japan at some stage so it's good to know if someone from the UK was interested in it. By the way the corrosion underneath is par for the course for cars which were located in/near the mountains or along the Japan sea coastline. They get huge amounts of snow every winter and the sodium chloride is used on the roads. Many cars have some kind of rubber like treatment underneath but they tend to limit it to the wheel arches underbody and fuel tank. Suspension arms and sub-frames will have similar corrosion to your JZX110 which is a common sight. See it all the time and car dealers here generally don't even mention it unless asked.
    • If the sound goes away when you clutch in, the 1.5/2 way diffs are just shit, and you are a normal person. The diff is likely "fine" but driving at anything under 30kmh is a violent horrible experience. It would be exaggerated with solid diff bushings and subframe bushings if you have those.
