Hi Just wondering if anyone could help me out. I have just had an Apexi AVCR installed in my car :P and im running 14psi constantly, I have a 3'' turbo back exhaust, HKS pod, and a Blitz FMIC I havent had it Dyno tuned yet but was wondering what others with similar mods were running and how much can I run all day everyday safely, any help will be appreciated

hhhhmmmmmm.........i've been running 14psi on my RB20 since bought it 6 months ago, haven't had any problems as yet (touchwood!) and not running a FMIC either . Is it true that std RB20 turbos can run a few more psi than RB25. I hope this is the case otherwise I'm gonna wind it down to 10psi.

yeah its only got the factory fmic, the size of a matchbox (well almost), probably good for stock boost, yeah should wind it back to 10psi, will do it tonight. FMIC upgrade is number 1 on my list anyway. :) Feels like I am losing top end power even on full boost though, time for a service and tune, big 100k service! ;)

i got mine dyno tuned, and it was set at max 10psi, but when i checked the ebc and look at the peak boost, it shows 0.86 bar = 12.4...somtimes its at .82 n i think i seen it at .9 b4...i dunno wast going on...any1 know how 2 use a blitz ebc?

What type of blitz ebc?

The SBC or SBC-id?

I used to own an SBC-iD, if setup in auto mode it had to be setup on a dyno other wise it would have a tendancy to spike a little.

Manual mode that uses a plain fixed duty cycle and gain was always rock solid but with the smaller turbo would tend to drop boost at the higher rpm, where as the auto mode would monitor boost levels and adjust duty cycle in order to force it to hold boost.

i seem 2 get diff boost peaks at diff gears....in 1st gearr i went to 5-6k and it peaked at 0.86, then i was doing 60 dropped to 3rd gear and got 2 5-6k and peaked at 0.72 which is a little over 10psi which is what it was set at....also was a cool nite last nite...

My Stagea is currently set at 12psi, with all the supporting mods. I never keep it held on 12psi boost for more than a sec or 2 - its the heat build up that destroys the ceramic exhaust wheel.

Ive got a spare RB25 turbo at home, so not too worried if she shags herself, but I dont think that'll happen due to my 1st comment above.

Talk about being right on the money, I went for cruise the same night after I left my post I and blew my f$%^&n turbo :( !...........Looks like im off the road for a while! What about the irony of reading the responses after blowing the turbo!....

hey i have a standard r33 gtst turbo for $400 :) pm me if interested

    • I'm normally copping my own abuse from neglecting my daily drivers. "Those suspension bushes will last a bit more", "Don't worry about the oil leak, just keep topping it up". The project cars I'm always doing things slowly on them as I'm wanting them to be done better, and neater, and nicer. Luckily I don't have to deal with 18 year old Matt's "Learning to wire" stuff in the project cars. And there's only one piece of wiring I'm displeased about in the Landcruiser, and it's about to be cut out... However, the box loads of parts that have been going through this place lately for the Landcruiser... Brake pads Brake Rotors Full handbrake overhaul Wheel Bearings Seals Swivel hubs Steering Boxes Half the suspension joints Shocks Air bags (Ones to go in the rear springs for towing) Water pump Timing kit Lower timing case Harmonic Balancer Radiator Lots of other little seals and shits Gas struts for the bonnet New power window switches And god knows what else I've forgotten... Ha ha ha I have my fingers crossed the pinion seals don't start leaking on the diffs, that the transfer case doesn't leak, and the gearbox input shaft doesn't leak, nor the rear main seal. As they're about the only seals I haven't replaced in the driveline! I'm seriously eyeing off buying new caliper rebuild kits front and rear brake calipers... I'll probably recheck all the valve clearances soon too, and hopefully, it should be all good and sweet to haul some long distance trips again!
    • Every time I pull my 3x gauges out of the console and see the crack-addict way that I did the wiring, and I just can't bring myself to tear it all apart and "make it nice", because it is currently working. In fact, the last time I was in there I probably made it worse.
    • The best part is when you own the car long enough that you look back and find your OWN ham fisted amateur shit!
    • The annoying part about neglect, is when you start to replace one thing, and find ten more broken things. Ham fisted monkey repairs you normally only find out about when trying to do something unrelated! Ha ha   Neglect you can kind of anticipate the huge costs to fix it all. Ham fistedness is normally a shock the first time your work on a new old car, as everything "looked" good before.
