Hey guys,

New to forums and skyline scene in general. I currently drive a S3 RX7 (which im selling to upgrade to a skyline - anyone wanna buy it?! haha) and have a few questions.

First off, i'm thinking of buying a skyline from 'Yahoo Motorsports' and getting it complianced and stuff like that. Has anyone dealt with Yahoo Motorsports? And how was it - all good?

Second, how hard is it to get a Skyline complianced, and how much would it set me back? Never been through the ordeal so i'm not too sure what to expect. I've been searching the forums but haven't found anything useful as of yet. Sorry if it's already been answered.

Cheers.

he is good at what he is - cheap

he bring in cheap cars, not quality cars

so get everything check out before you buy and you should be fine

if you buy a lemon you are the only one to blame

15 yrs old Compliance is about $1400 drive in drive out

extra for removing aftermarket parts

most car at that ages has worn bushes which need to replace

and obviously tyres

i remeber someone post up a backyard place, which can do it for a few hundred bucks, try to search in SA section ;)

Maxx: How would I pick a lemon R32 skyline? Just look for oil leaks, thrashed interior, rubber under the gaurds (from burnouts), anything else?

Also where is the place that supplies Compliance for $1400? What else needs to be done after that? Regency + rego then i'm good to go?

Cheers.

my brother just brought a jza70 type r supra from yahoo.

mmm, not that cheap when ya compare to other import brokers like prestige motorsport, imports101, meisei or jspec.

my brothers car was $6500 uncomplied, very average condition, big dent in the drivers door, very worn seat, all bold tyres, a couple to metal, bit of rust, needs new paint job, f*cked exhaust etc...a bit of a lemon

i look at prestige motorsport and they had a white jza70 type r for $8900 landed and complied, a bit more but in much better condtion.

so i would personally get in contact with another company and try them first. if you dont want to have to spend a money on fixing things, it is still buyer be ware tho.

i can send you some internet sites for other companys if you want

the problem about import company is they seems to be better condition...in photos. You can only see that much through photo, and u have to wait for zillon years for the car to arrive (e.g. like me!)

at yahoo motorsport at least u see the car in fresh and can send whoever u trust to check the car before u purchase

i can send you some internet sites for other companys if you want

yeh that'd be awesome dude.

yeh Maxx is right, that's whats good about yahoo... I can get some mates to come down and help me suss it a second time if need be. Maxx, do you have the details about the compliancing place that can do it for $1400? Is it a garunteed pass at regency if everything is stock?

I bought my R34 in through Prestige Motorsport. Had a good (but not perfect) experience.

If you are buying an old R32, definitely see it in person and have it mechanically checked out before buying. Don't risk bringing one in from Japan - too big risk.

I believe PVP on Mullers Rd do 15 year old R32s for under $2,000. For R33 and R34s you have to go elsewhere like Best Enterprises and costs around $5,000.

I agree with every one here look around before you buy your car.I got my R33 GTST through a Jap dealer here in Adelaide, I am happy with my car however I think i may have payed too much and I wasn't all that happy with the experience. And after looking in the For Sale section here in these forums I could have bought a R32 GTR for a few thousand more :P . Oh well next time I know where I will go first.

Compliance doen't insure a pass at regency. I have spent many hours out at the inspectioon through work (2-3 hours a week for 12 months). They will go over the car thourghly looking for any un roadworthy parts and some defectable parts ( the amount of time I have spent peeling window tint off of windows)

personally i like things easy so i would buy again allready complianced have u thought of FBI

i would think there wouldnt be too much saved and is the headache worth the money of not having to go over the pits

try REDLINE MOTOR SPORT on north east road. Bought a r33s2gtst from them and was reasonably tidy and they seem to have alot of r32's in stock. can knock them down a few dollars. i also bought my R32GTR through them and could at look at the jap auction spec's on it with them to check body condition etc. only thing was i had them bring one over [white one }and it got nailed on the way over on the boat and they didnt make me buy it. not to bad blokes just remeber that most are selling for a reason in japan {ie small bingle}. luckly for me my [silver one} was one of the tidiest ones that even tilbrook had seen {had 3 people trying to buy it before i even drove it out of his workshop} good luck and hope you find a nice one. buy the way what do you want for the car {rx7}?

voss used to comply for redlines but my gtr was complied by the yelow wreckers building on the same side of road just before bunnings and direct interiors with the car on the roof {cant think of the name}. could ask them about compliance

    • Nah, nothing formal, just open track days. Mostly small and tight circuits but I would like to get back out to Eastern Creek at some stage.
    • What type of track driving will you be doing?  Do you have a set of class rules you need to abide by that will limit your rim / tyre width?
    • I've been reading a lot lately about unsprung weight and how beneficial it can be to reduce it for driving on the track, given my semi's only have another day or two in them I am throwing around the idea of some lighter wheels and a square set up. I have 265/35/19's and 245/40(?)/19 Federal 595's at the moment. The wheels and tyres are super heavy. I looked up my wheel weight online and got 14.5kg naked. Not sure if this was 8.5 (front) or 9 (rear) but that's a lot. I have also been reading about the benefits of a square setup. Much better rotation and potentially less understeer.  When I throw these together I'm thinking about a 17x9 or 18x9 square (preferably under 10kgs per wheel) with 245 or 255's. I can get some cheap 17x8.5 BMW M Sport wheels, they weight 10.5 kg's each but at 8.5 wide could probably only get 245's on them? I know they come with 255's from factory but semi's are a bit chunkier. Otherwise it will be aftermarket wheels in a 9" width. Most of the other BMW wheels are heavy unless you pay a squillion dollars for some M wheels.  Although, the E46 M3 Style 67's could be good but I'd have to buy 2 sets to square them up.  My car has a tickle over 400hp and about to put an LSD in also, is 245 a little thin for a square setup? It kinda feels that way to me. Also, is there any tangible benefit to having 18's over 17's? Is the footprint demonstrably bigger? From those of you who went to light(er) wheels after heavy buggers, did you notice it much?
    • Start with the R32 GTR wiring diagram. The ECU is essentially the same, so the pinouts are good. The details around ECCS relays, etc might differ a little bit, but the reality is that you need to get ignition power to kick the ECU so it powers up the ECCS relay which brings the rest of the ECU up. This also gives power to the other circuits that are needed to make the engine run, like the ignition coils, etc. All of this is visible on the R32 diagram and should give you a strong guide, even if it's not quite the same as the R33. As to specifics - I'm pretty sure no-one can help you from afar, as there is no way to know what mistake or omission has been made in connecting stuff up. It always turns out to be "LOL, I shorted something and an entire wire vanished out of the loom", or "We never connected X or Y main connector", or "shit, you mean I need to have that fuse installed?".
    • hello wanted some insight on what my problem could be so i swapped a RB26DETT into my r33 gtst used a R33 GTR engine harness and im using a haltech platinum pro. The car cranks but no start the ecu isn’t getting any power now im trying to find out why i cant seem to find any schematics  or diagram for the engine harness for the r33 gtr anything helps thank you.
