Hey crew,

Like a few others out there a mate of mine has been experiencing ignition cut at around 4000rpm on full throttle when the boost is increased .

Neo RS RWD

Today we unplugged the boost sensor next to the fire wall the one that sits right up hi in the center, and the ignition cut studder disappeared.

My question is does this sensor simply detect over boost and run an ignition cut when detected or does it also play a part in increasing fuel and ignition parameters during normal driving conditions.

Even when driven hard it did not detonate so i am assuming it only detects over boost.

Has anyone else tried this and if so with what kind of boost levels...

i only found the ignition cut would come in when i was running 14psi & as we all know, ceramic turbine wheels cry enough after a while at that much boost. I suppose it depends whether the boost sensor is a switch (ie on or off), or a sensor (variable output). You maybe able to work it out if you call Nissan with the part number & see what they call it.

The GTR's have a electronic boost gauge & i suppose the ECU has to get it's intake pressure from something.......

Sorry i got no idea, you may need to get your freind to do some back to back dyno runs to see exactly whats happening & to ensure he's not leaning out at high boost.
