Hi guys, I'm from Malaysia and in our forum, we have a hot topic about this...anyone of you guys tried it before?

The question arises when an A31 was smoked by an M3 on a Malaysian highway on top speed, and because of the car age, the chasis is a big issue whether or not it will support up to 300kmph of G-force, even if the car has a full anti-rollcage and strenghtening bars in it....

currently the vote is 90% of the Ceffy owners saying it was impossible to chase down an M3, M5 is of course out of the question...

I'm with the remaining 10%, 'cause I've tried it before...what do you guys think, pls share your ideas, comments and experiences here, thanks in advance!!!

I don't think 1JZ conversions are that common in Malaysia. Last time I was there most of the guys were running RB25DET's and RB20DET's. Thailand is the capital of 1JZ conversions.

5000rpm in 5th (s13 engine and gbox) with my car has been done. I'm not sure how fast that is but at that speed with foot fully off the accel it took 7 seconds or so for the speedo to get back to 180. Done without a wing.

So with a huge wing, some racing decals and better tyres I don't see why a cef can't do 300kmh.

I'd prefer to be in the BMW though.. Just something inherently safer about a german made car designed from the factory to test the limits of human terminal speed courage/stupidity :D

Gearbox and diff would be required. To lengthen range.

I have 'seen' 6700 in 5th and it was off the speedo for about 30secs to a min to get to that. Est speed around 220. So with a little more it could make it.

Goes from 120 > 180 very quickly once the turbo comes on and engine is revving. Probably 5-10 sec acceleration time.

Would be a monster if it wasnt revving so hard. This was with standard everything. Never been in an M3 / 5 so not sure how fast they are. :P

I'd be quite happy to drive a Ceffy at 250+ with standard chassis.. As long as it had some forgiving coilover settings with strut braces.

Anywhere over the 300rwhp mark should give the M5 a decent go?

I spose there's always option of a 100 wet shot nos setup :(

I think you should provide a link to your forum so I can check out some 1jz conversions

Thank you.

and just to inform you, because of government regulations, doing a transplant of engine of different car brand (like toyota engine into Ceffy) is not permitted in Malaysia.

Is the limiter of BMW cars really set to 250kmph? no wonder when I was chasing that M5, it only tops 250kmph, won't go faster anymore....and just to let u guys know, the road condition is not that good here, even on a highway, doing 300kmph would be suicide...even with a full anti-roll cage, best suspensions and great tires.

in the same car I hit 5800 rpm in top and there was still more

yes definatly doable even if a bit hairy especially on bumpy roads 7500 in the same car would be 300 kph from memory. the killer in that car is the 100-to 200 kph time 5 or 7 seconds ( never timed it as your too busy concentrating. 270-280 is definatly achiveable approx 7000 pm.

the cefiro is pretty areodynamic for its age 400 hp + @ the engine would be needed

meggala

5000rpm in 5th gear (in my car) has me sitting at about 240kmph - 250kmph

but I have had a chance to wind it right out to see what it would get to.

But bearing in mind guys the that going from 290kmph to 300kmph the wind pressure on the front of your car almost doubles.

The Cefi's rock... but I think the M5 produces like 450bhp?? That's a sh*tload of power for a stocker... but as someone has duely pointed out.. most BMW "performance cars" are speed limited... that removed, and they can let their full "autobahn" potential be realised.. in short.... cefi would probably get drilled.... Unless modified to a similar spec.

Tad over 500hp if you use the right settings. Too many buttons to push, by the time they actually have their car set for 500hp, the cef would have lapped it twice :D

The fastest I have been in My C33 Laurel is 255kmph. This is with 8 Point Cage, Swaybars, Strut Braces, Coilovers, 300hp RB25det etc.

So yes I would say definately achievable, jsut with the right Modifications.

You must respect the M5 though. It standard could beat alot of modified C33's/A31's. I have never raced one but I think once I got past the Lag factor It would be on like Donkey Kong.

    • I've looked up the parts number (41011AL501). It's around $700 OEM. Usually our Infiniti G35 here in Canada have interchangeable parts with my Stagea but the parts number are not the same. I have looked around and it seems the JDM 2005 V35 Skyline (which is the same as our G35) has the same caliper but I cannot confirm. And I can't find a repair kit. The inner brake pads drags on the rotor, seems to be rusty piston. Thanks for the info by the way
    • This coupled with 6-9 speed autos with ridiculously short gearing is why these modern shitbox cars always seem so fast off the line. If it wasn't for those things, Raptors would not seem fast. The problem we have is there is a driveability gap between a more gentle take off and a wheelspinning sideways launch. The difference between ankle flex required to achieve one and ankle flex required to achieve the other is about 0.5°.
    • Yeah I think I'm also with the opposite here. It's 'hard to keep up with traffic' because in the real world I'm accelerating with 15% throttle and they are pinning it. It feels like I'm being an overt dickhead at anything above 15% throttle, so the car sounds like I'm being an overt dickhead to keep up with/get ahead of traffic when I'm really just trying to drive with traffic. There would be no issue 'keeping up with traffic' if we used the same level of throttle input/aggression to drive around. People really do just drive around with their foot nearly pinned in econoboxes.
    • To be fair it's the other way around. 300kw is boring in a modern Golf or BMW. They are so competent / well-engineered / devoid of emotion that you have to go stupid fast to feel anything. Whereas the <300kw RB still makes all the right noises and it feels good to drive. Can pull off at the lights with the turbo whooshing and the blow-off pssshing and feel like the coolest kid on the block. Just don't look to the side where you'll see the bored housewifes in their shitbox Yaris/Corolla/Camry that kept up because you didn't go fast at all
    • 300kW is so boring in a Skyline, you'll get spanked by someone's mum's Golf with Alibaba pipes, and an email tune.
