Noone can tell me why Exedy clutches don't fit series 2 R33s! I've asked 5 people selling all sorts of Exedy clutches, but they don't know. At least everyone is honest and doesn't remove the "R33 92-95" bit.

Some guy on eBay just replied to me with "it will fit". Rather contradictory!

Does anyone know why Exedy clutches all claim they'll fit up to 95 models, but no later?

Are series 2 R33 clutches opposite to the series 1???

And then why is it only Exedy clutches that claim this. (i've seen 6 new clutches advertised, and each seller pastes that text in their description)

Randy,

I am not sure who told you this but i just bought one from the following

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=98588

and had it fitted a week ago and the place that did said it went in fine no problems at all.

LOL!

And thanks... I've seen 6 different people (3 on SAU, 3 on eBay) post up Exedy button-clutches, and the description always says something along the lines of "R33 up to '95".

It's just weird that they all got this info from SOMEWHERE (suspect Exedy site?) and pasted it up.

hmm that is odd... all i know is my clutch is in and working fine :) maybe monday call exceedy/daiken direct and ask them

Me? No. I never said they didn't. I'm just asking why so many other people say they don't.

Check the for sale section for exedy clutches if you want to ridicule someone.

Hey Guys

I would really like to kill this rumour once and for all, the pull style clutch was not introduced into the none GTR range until the R34. All previous GTS-ts, including the R33 GTS25-t, use the same push setup. Also all R32 GTR manufactures until March 1993 also used an interchangeable unit.

If anyone wishes to put this to the test this, with a clutch purchased from us, and I am found to be wrong I will offer a 110% refund. This offer will stand until I have egg on my face  If you wish to take the challenge then head over here to look at the clutches available. Unless stated SAU members can take 10% off the price. I can be contact via either PM, email or phone 0400797687.

Andrew Sullivan

That's a bold statement, and i'm willing to believe it because a few people have actually bought and used Exedy clutches in their series 2 R33's.

I have found Greg to be correct also, finding a lot of proof that the series 2's are the pull-type.

Mechanically, I'm not clear as to where the pull or push originates. My clutch slave pushes on the fork, witch then pulls the pressure plate away from the friction plate. It looks to be the same as my mates R32 GTR... so i'm at a loss with that!

It's a bold statement, but I would make it if I wasn't sure I was correct. Following are the clutch engagement setups for both early and late model R33 GTS25-t and the R34 GT-t. Please take note of the position that the bearing carrier is seen. You will notice that in a pull setup (R34) that the bearing carrier is on the rear of the clutch fork while in a push setup its on then engine side. Also note that there is no difference between the R33 setups.

The offer still stands if anyone wants to try and prove me wrong.

So you're saying that they are both push-type.. both series1 and 2?

In which case I really don't understand why a lot of people advertise Exedy clutches for R32 and R33 series 1 when they infact fit series 2.

    • I thought I'd come back and add something I JUST learned. A Toyota LandCruiser with a 1HZ, mates perfectly with a bottle of Nulon brake fluid. As in, it perfectly screws in. Great make shift funnel when you cut the bottom of it off. This may work for your Corolla.   Unfortunately, tipping a 10L drum is much harder than a 4 to 6L bottle, and they no longer include the easy pour tap which was just perfection to use previously.
    • Guys since i bought r33 gts25t coupe 1994 automatic a/t(manual swap 350z gearbox)  all i got is problems, always problems. Lets start with that when i turn key into ignition(ON) fuel pump doesnt always works. Sometimes i have to turn key twice Off/on/off/on until it primes. Its new, dw300 - 340lph. My gearbox broke so i did gearbox swap, install different intake manifold, injectors and i take pipes. Car was sitting in garage for more than half a year. I did assembly all not that long ago and when i turn ignition cant hear prime. All of sudden it stopped working. Theres many videos on YouTube how to make relay mod on r33 straight from battery so i did and it doesnt work! 😰 30 - battery positive  87 - positive from fuel pump to relay 85, 86 - one of two wires from original fuel pump wires(light blue, grey) and it didn’t work. so I check on ignition and took original BLUE relays wires from trunk, next to fuses. (I believe it’s IGN+ and ECU pin 18. it didn’t work…  tried connecting (IGN+ from og relay) and (ECU 104 from 1of4 FPCM wires) to my new relay 85/86 and it didn’t work.  I unplug FPCM. Didn’t work. im thinking what’s wrong   fuel pump is working, if I leave IGN+ on 85 and 86 straight to ground it works but it’s just nonstop. Since it getting constant 12v after key in ON. light blue wire gives me 6-8v.  so how this should be connected? What causing ECU not giving — on pin? Or I did sth wrong and that’s why it doesn’t work? I need negative signal on ECU that control fuel pump. What this should be?
