The back room here just isn't ready yet.. I've got exams on so I'll get my arse in to gear and rig up some secure tables that span around the room. :rofl:

Power is the next issue.. Unsure if a single 15amp feed out to the back room that also powers lights to be sufficient. :S

yeh, should be ok, i mean, 6 computers with monitors no problem, 7-8 pushing it, id think about getting a long extension cord from another section of the house to power any more than another 4. 12-16 people is the sweet spot in numbers anyway, less its boring after a while and more its to much trouble. get every1 to pay around 15-20 bux for power and food/drink for the day and BYO alco.

In the mean time if any one runs in to a sparky ask him how many pc's he thinks its safe to run off each power point. i.e power boards. :S

I've got 6 dual outlets in the same room.

Obviously we will need a pair of headphones each also. :P

yeah I would have thought 6 PCs per power 'zone' .... normally you would have 1 zone per section of the house (most houses have 3 zones), and likely all of the 6 power points in your rumpus room would be on the same zone. So what you do is run an extension cord from the complete other end of your house, so you get 2 zones of power to use.

When we built our house I got the sparkies to put 3 different zones to my rumpus room for this exact purpose .... then I went and ruined a perfectly good LAN room by putting my beautiful pool table right in the middle of it :dry: .... I also have 3 zones of power in my office for the large number of electrical devices I run in here too :P

Well a power board can supply what 2400 watts can't it 240x10 and your average computer would use ~350W tops and a 17" LCD uses ~40w so that works out to roughly 6 PCs.

I may be completely wrong though

my pc uses 3 case fans, the psu fan running, watercooling pump, and 2 external fans on the radiator. The psu is a 550W antec jobbie + a 20" widescreen, so a couple more newer pcs would blow the power usage right up...

this is the stuff that i am doing. At the moment this is only 69000 polys and my computer is starting to struggle with it.

i'm not sure if its only my video card that need up grading or more

I have a gig of ram which helps, The video card is only a 128mb ati radeon 9600.

got a 2.6ghz cpu

any suggestions?

No mate, starting to do it proffesionally (paid woohoo) now and just need a bit more power to help run smooth. The model in the pics is only 60pixels long I just need something that will stop it running jerky when doing the fine details

With regards to how many pcs you can run off one powerpoint, wouldn't that have something to do with how many amps each is pulling? Powerboards usually have a 10A fuse, regardless of how many outlets...

Is it possible to measure how many amps an average high-spec'd pc draws and use that to work out how many could be run safely off a single powerboard etc? I presume powerpoints themselves also have a limit to how many amps they can provide? dont know enough about the electrical side of things to go any deeper into it.

its also worth noting that a 350w power supply means 350w MAXIMUM (or "safe" maximum? before its likely to fail). It would normally run well below this amount, obviously depending on how much of the system you're using at any one time. I think the biggest power drawers are your video/tv cards and drives...from memory (used to be a tech years ago).

plus I only have 2 pc's (running off separate powerpoints) so no problems at all. :)

    • Need to see other side of PCB in that area...ie; I don't see any thru-hole mounting, just soldered vias (smd zeners in SOT23 have 3 legs but only 2 are used, as reflected by PCB tracks)
    • 4 to 5 is fine. It will be slow, but that's better than blowing turbos. I don't have a PS pump idle up solenoid on my car, because... I think when we put the Neo in we retained my R32 lines. But.... From inspecton of the R34 vacuum hose diagram, you can see that the solenoid needs to be connected to the turbo inlet as source of clean air) and the plenum (as source of vacuum - which is the place for the air to flow to to cause the idle to increase). So 3 to 1 is VERY WRONG. 3 should go to either the turbo inlet, or the plenum. Follow the other hose from the PS solenoid and if it goes to the plenum, then your 3 goes to 2 2 would also serve as a bleed port for a boost solenoid.
    • Pull them out and pull more apart. You can't do shit with them still bolted to the floor of the car.
    • Yes it is. ZD1 is on the other side of the board. Where ZD1 is marked is clearly opposite a 2 pin device. Our 3 pin device here is not a ZD.
    • Alright, a little update on this... I called Fulcrum, who used to be the distributor in Australia. No Bueno, they don't service them anymore.  Called shock works, who don't service them but offered to dyno the shocks for performance, and suggested DNA in Sydney might service them.  Called DNA, who also do not service them and basically said they try to steer customers away from tein for this exact reason these days- there is just no support for them anymore apparently.  Both SW and DNA said they are a not necessarily a bad product, but they just don't service the brand or know anyone who does service the brand anymore.  So... I could keep calling around but at this point I think I'll probably just spring for the shockworks product, unless anyone here knows anything.  Cheers 🍻
