Well I did an 'economy run' recently in my stock S2 stagea, keeping off boost where possible and I got 12.8L/100km, measured using the method in the above post. I like to reset the km's every time i fuel up so I can work out my fuel economy.

Driving how I normally do I get between 13.5 and 14L/100km (city driving, mostly peak hour traffic) and the above figure included a fair bit of driving outside peak hours so its a little bit optimistic.

Not that much difference between the two figures though which I thought was great because it means my usual driving style isn't costing that much extra in fuel. I'm not a leadfoot but I do like to boost a bit when accelerating.

just an update on my own post from a few months ago...

I now get an average of 12.5L/100km city driving, that is, not driving economically. So thats 1-1.5L/100km improvement thanks to a combination of turbo, exhaust, and safc.

Not sure how much difference each mod has made (with regards to fuel economy) but I'm pretty happy with 12.5L/100km. :P

oh ok thanks for that, yeah im not sure if mine has been modded in japan or something everyone says it has more power than other stock skylines they have been in, plus its an auto.

also i see you have marked that u got 150kw

i think mine has 195

is that my problem there??

i dunno wats going on

it even leaks petrol fuems ot the petrol cap fromt he side of the car heavily someetimes/

Just drove from Rocky to Brisbane, ~700kms and got 610kms out of my absolutly full tank to when we hit the light, all basically done in 5th with little to no boost and NO overtaking whatsoever and spent between 80-100kph.

Better then my mother-in-laws VS wagon did when she did the exact same trip :D

Congratulations, you just convinced my dad. Oh... wait... 5 speed... dammit...

maybe ill have to get some more money and get a manual

okay im shit at maths so can someone do it for me?

1685kms trip (vic to qld) at an average of 90kms in a series 2 4 speed...

what kind of petrol consumption would this take? im pricing up delivery vs a cheap plane ticket and driving the car back...

hard to say but mine is doing about 11 litres per hundred on a trip that would work out around 154 litres of fuel at say roughly $1.25 per litre depends where u buy it so id recon $191.50

Went to the in-laws over Xmas. They live in in a new house which requires travelling over a fairly steep, twisty road. Travelling there the wagon got 11.6l/100km. Hills make quite a difference to the economy. Every time you power out of a 35 km/h corner the auto drops into 2nd and puts you right into boost.

Other than that, I drove at 100-110 and nailed it a couple of times to pass slow cars (and to test the engine after getting the mis-fire fixed).

holy crap i only get 250k to whole tank 300k if im luky any ideas on what i should do to fix this problem up

its an auto as well

it has some balls over other stok skyliens so i guess its been worked bigger injectors or something.

its giving me shits cant afford to drive it nowhere.

and what can u get on a whoel tank.

do u run premium

hmmm errr try typing a few helium ballans onto your lead footed!! LOL  that might help a little. It also largely depends on your driving style as well.

I may be wrong, but Caltex fuel seems to be giving me significantly more power and

better economy (100 ks / tank extra) than the Shell that I have been habitually using.

This may just be my engine, it may be the M35 V6?

I've just filled up again and will monitor the usage.

Has anyone else experienced this?

M35 owners - have a try and let me know what you think

mm

Strong advice after lots of nissans - NEVER put anything except the shell or BP fuel in them! :)

Nope. In the rare instances I have actually used Caltex fuel, it has given me no better economy nor power than Shell Vpower or BP Ultimate.

I have also been told that Caltex is a "dirtier" fuel... whatever, I didn't really use it before hearing that so.....

Having said that, what are the differences with your car? Economy numbers? Power description?

.... And I never use Mobil.

quit your winging , when i bought my car we had to pay $2.30 a litre for bp 98 (NZ). mine did 420 kays from half way between full and 3/4 down to bang on 1/4 . did 120kays the whole way and passed everything i could find. included finding the speed limiter

Hard to quantify. Last tank gave me 12.5 l / 100, previously its been more like 15. 570 ks per tank vs 450

As I said, I'm trying the 2nd tank now.

As to power, this is seat of the pants stuff. I'm comparing with my 200kw ATW zxtt. Still not as fast, but noticeably better than it was.

    • That looks good, but I think you're going to need much beefier side skirts now.
    • They are daft and there's a reason it never caught on. Steering feel? We don't need no stinking steering feel!
    • I gotta pull you up on this. It's driving me crazy. A shutter is something that closes, like over a window or in a cmera. The word you want is shudder. That LSD is clearly f**ked. Take it to a diff shop and get it disassembled and examined by an expert. YOu might have plates welded together or something equally crazy.
    • Define "starting to fail". Wy not just rebuild them?
    • Check the Nistune doco. There are a few assumptions being made here that might not be valid. I will list the things that occur to me: Base map. Base map for what? Base map for Z32? Then the cranking pulse width is probably wrong for an RB25. The extra 500cc of capacity might well be enough to prevent it from catching. Base map for RB25? I don't think you can load one of those into a Z32. You have to just make the settings correct for an RB25 in the Z32 base map. That is either K or the TIM to get the pulsewidth right. Loom. You bought a loom for an RB. And you plugged it into a Z32 ECU. Did you make sure that any iwre differences were swapped. From memory, there's at least a couple. And as per the others, I would suggest making sure that the fuel pressure is correct while cranking and that the injectors are actually flowing as expected. They really must come out and go on the bench, unless you do find that you have messed up as per above points. I would also suggest watching in Nistune to make sure that everything is reading correctly. That the correct binary flags are raised at the right time (like the crank signal), that there's no stupid values in K or TIM. That you have not got mismatched firmware for the ECU and/or a wrong image loaded.
