i have a a r34 rb26 in need of a rebuild and need help!!

the car it is in is a ex D1GP car and is obviously used for drift.

it has run a bearing (1 or more) possibly due to oil surge

anyway it is now due for a rebuild, we were atleast going to go

pistons, rings, rods, n1 oil pump, trust extension kit, is highly likely we will need a new crank

as we realised what was happening quite late ( can't hear anything over the 3 fuel pumps)

we were going to go with the first stage hks 2.8l kit but evidently the block wouldn't like it

and we would need an N1 item, so that scraps that idea also we were told that we may aswell

throw the engne away as bits of bearing would be scattered throughtout the engine (i thought a good flush and tidy up/porting would be sweat!)

any way what options do i have with the crank, scatered metal in the engine, etc.

ps we are looking for around 600-700hp rear wheels (we have all the externals to handle that and more!)

cheers

yeah 450-500kw drifter

it is nuts already but hey can never have enough and since it needs a rebuild anyway

it did a team event with kuroi at an option 2 event in 2004 i think,

anyway, do i need a n1 block for 450-500kw? with a stage 1 hks 2.8l kit?

what are my other options with the crank what is good out there and what $$

any of you guys that has had an rb26 expire in the same way have any problems

with debris through the engine?

ohh and yes it is a four door

cheers guys

might even post a pic of one of the laps before it let go

u got jun 2.7L billet, full counterweight crank, tomei 2.8L (not full counterwieght i dont think) and the hks 2.8L crank, though there a few different hks cranks in the 2.8L depending on power. and n1 block is only 3K i was told which if i knew when i did mine id be using one str8 up, not worth risking on a normal block when they are sooo cheap  plenty of options around, try searching the site for stroker kits as their was a large thread on it a fair while ago now discussing all the options :(

show us some pics :( is it a skyline or a chaser going by the jzx (rb26 powered) as your listed car?

at the time it blew it had 334kw rear wheels and 1100nm of torque but that was detuned running pump gas.

the head has all the bits (may be looking at new cams if debris got up there though).

Was told that the r34 block was basically similar to the n1 in design ( with extra ribing for greater torsional strength stopping cracking in the block at hi rpm) , would be going for the first stage

2.8l kit the second and third is a bit overthe top

yeah its a mark 2 toyota powered by a r34 rb26

350rwkw is a much smarter, cheap and more reliable approach than 500rwkw.

plus drifting is more about car setup than power.

personally stick under the 400rwkw marker, far better response and throttle control can be achieved. And thats what you need correct?

yeah decided 500kw is a bit over the top but would like 400kw, the power hits in an awkward time for me anyway and was going with the stage one 2.8 kit (highest compression version) to move the torque down in the range a little bit with a bit of response (would this be the case?)

as for the power in drifters issue have you seen kuroi's 900ps onevia powered by rb26, but yeah i do agree

does any one know if the r34 block is similar to the n1 in design ( with extra ribing for greater torsional strength stopping cracking in the block at hi rpm)?

btw the track is in NZ pukekohe infact (mega entry speeds into that sweeper!)

my work brought in a 33 gtst x Garage Aqua track car from Japan with r34 n1 crank, rods and oversized pistons stroked the 25 to a 2.7lt its fitted with a RX6 made 355rwkw on flat out mode i.e 1.8 bar

Its super responsive span the semi slicks up in third without any problems on 1.2 bar.

the guy that bought it drifts it on 1 to 1.2 bar so just on 280 - 300rwkw plenty of power

R34GTR (RB26DETT) block measures up exactly the same as an R32GTR N1 block. Personally I think the N1 block is under utilised in a 450 rwkw application, a standard block will handle that easily.

My 20 cents…….

Dismantle the R34GTR RB26DETT, clean it up and work out exactly what it is that you need to replace. Then get on with the rebuild stick a standard crank, some good rods, bearings and pistons in it and control the oil temperature and flow properly. It will handle the power you want easily and with a decently ported cylinder head and 9 to 1 compression ratio it will have all the response you need. Ceramic coat the piston crowns, the combustion chambers and the exhaust ports for the superior temperature control and a further improvement in response.

:P cheers :)

thanks Sydneykid, i thought the 34 block was similar and could handle over what we wanted, will

look into your suggestions engines in the process of coming out at the mo.

one of the strong reasons we were looking at the hks kit is that it would only be alittle more (not much at all) to get it than get all the bits and a good stock crank :P

(over here anyway)

still cant belive it had oil surge after competeing in d1gp and other japanese events

only thing i can think of is they ran it over full?

    • I can ship Nismo floor mats to you: https://www.oemsoko.co.jp/products/nismo-floor-mats-for-skyline-r33-bcnr33-stagea-wgnc34?_pos=1&_sid=9278c1467&_ss=r
    • Here's the link: https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/epc/nissan-japan/stagea/wgnc34/6642/misc/G49?frame_no=WGNC34-137122 What you think about it? The same product i found on nengun: https://www.nengun.com/oem/parts/40567/MiPwn5qAMfCfmpxHNDnwn5q9MDAx8J-QiW9sZC1qcC0xMTAtRzQ5LS0wMDE/Floor+Carpet+%2F+Mat+2/0688339eba149c19 Bot i have spoken to 😅 ensured me, that mats are 100% original, oem product. I have my doubts. I also heard what you mentioned, that nengun often offers items that are actual not available... On the other hand mats i found on japanese yahoo or ebay are in poor condition and still quite expensive so i'd rather wait for some better offers. My location - Poland. We literaly don't have ANY market for used Stagea parts so need to search outside Europe.
    • You can’t see much on the other side as the lcd is there I don’t think it’s the same as the m33 beside it as the markings on top is not the same was hoping someone had a good quality photo or if they just happened to have the unit in hand, quickly take the cover off and take a photo to clearly show the marking on top to identify the diode   the unit is currently with an electronics repair shop so I can’t take another photo at the moment hopefully they are smart enough to know if it’s a zener diode or not
    • I'd be very surprised if you can buy new OEM mats. But if you can, I want some too!  Do you have links to the variations you found? Also, where are you located? I found that Nengun is happy to list items to purchase but when you do buy them you'll get an email that it's actually discontinued. As far as I know the variations in floor mats are different colour schemes as well as automatic and manual having a slightly different shape. The automatic ones fit into a manual car without issues, but I think you'd have trouble fitting the other way around. I have photos that show the shape difference if you care. FWIW I bought sets of used floor mats in decent condition at yahoo auctions.
    • Hi 🙋‍♂️. Just bought my Unicorn but the interior need some minor work so it would match my expectations ;). I noticed it is hard to get used oem floor mats in good condition so i started to dig if there's any chance to buy set of new ones. I found two websites - nengun and amayama and it looks like one can still buy factory new floor mats in Japan, but thers a small issue. Some mats (i assume genuine, oem ones) are marked as G4900 and these are "discontinued". The ones you can buy are marked as G4911 but i have no idea if these are also oem, made by other producer or some lower quality replacements that looks entirely different. Can anyone help? 😃  P.s. there is also some strange indication - 0V005, 0V015 and 0V505. Any idea what does it mean? Would appreciate any help with this 🙏
