Heya, this is Nick (aka Azzura's Passenger) who was out on the track all day filming & taking photos

Please excuse the crap quality because I don't have a brilliant digital camera :) SHould be getting a Digital SLR soon I hope.

You can find the pics HERE (click me) (disclaimer, please ignore the ricemobile in the first few images, the driver did seem to be ashamed of what he was driving when he noticed I was taking photos)

I am also in the middle of editing up a video of the day from the footage I got. That should be ready by tonight / tomorrow with any luck.

In the meantime, feel free to checkout some of my previous work here:

why get a respray when you can just go to skidpan to even things out, hey Dave? Looks like you guys had a fantastic time. Wish i could have been there. : (and nice work on the pics Nick, especialy like the arty sepia ones)

Konrad, was it you that flicked that tyre up at me? heheh

Karen, I have those images in 2048x1536 px size if anyone would like an original of the ones shown in that gallery. Just PM me with the link to the photo shown and I will see what I can do for you.

Thanks for the comments, they are much appreciated.

Video should be finished tonight at some stage.

Cheers

Nick

Yeah sorry about that, i got a bit worried when i saw a shooter up on a grassy noll, then thought what would chuck norris do?? :D

I still blame ben, somehow it has to be his fault lol

heheh

Its all good :D

Chuck Norris would have stood his ground too

Jason didn't seem to be too worried about the tyre... I guess its just a bit different when you are looking through a viewfinder and your brain makes you think you're right on top of the action :D

Hope you didn't score too much damage mate

I am sorry about the tyre lol, glad noone got hurt. Maybe from that incdent we can argue to have them removed next time?? (even before i started i asked the guy why they were there in the first place)

Did i almost hit jason aswell?? He did say something about how i flicked some dirt at him or something?? was he on that hill aswell??

Nah damage is nothing dramatic, just got a quote to fix it but.... $1500 (but thats to get the whole car straight, and I already had damage to the car from the trip up to townsville i just come back from last week) its prob gunna work out cheaper to get a new skirt and front bar than fix the ones i have.

Guess i could still patch the fibreglass up myself since i got next week off work... hmm...

Wouldn't mind some big size photos of some of the ones in your gallery, i'll PM you the links.

Cant wait for the video, top work mate :D

Technically I shouldn't have been there, i've seen cars (a WRX and a Liberty) back into that corner before, but its all good - we were miles away from the action.

Jason (Azzura) was beside me and didn't even flinch heheh. Bit of a mud splat, but thats all part of the fun of the day :D

Glad to hear it was only minor damage.

I kinda do agree with having the tyres there, as at previous skidpan sessions people just get too out of control (gathered up too much speed) and end up having some big offs. Having the tyres there is a bit of incentive to keep everything in check and stay in the limits. if anything, maybe moved out off the concrete to the edge of the grass or something. I have also seen guys hang the back tyres off onto the dirt across the whole back straight to stay sideways, looks great on video but i'm sure the center management would rather that people didn't ;)

I think my favourite pic of the day would have to be this one...

Anyway, better get back to editing :D

Thanks :P

With the tyre tracks you can really get a sense for the angle that car got into the corner...

Not really happy with these cause my camera was stuffing up the white balance but here they are anyways.

Panoramas...

hey i didn't see that one :P do you have it in colour aswell..

Although from the angle i'd say it was right before i was about to spin, i think that corner got me almost every time.

Some great shots there!

Those tyres were a good guide to slow down, although I felt they sould of been on the grass, the one I took for lap didnt help me much!

Glad I was paired with Konrad, you can tell the novices from the old hands.(the vids will show)

Haha what if the video makes the novices look as good as the old hands? :P

I've learned to not waste all my video until later in the day when everyone is pushing the boundaries a bit :P You usually find that the old hands are spinning a lot more in that last hour hehe

I'll see how it goes, still a bit off for the video... but getting there

    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
    • You have a knack for photography my friend. It makes the 86 look like a complete bucket. The 34 went with you to Europe and back. It's special. (we all feel the same about our 'shitboxes' that every bystander seems to absolutely love)
