A 2530 isnt all that different to the std turbo. (yes i know it will make a bit more power, and probably come on a little harder then std as well...but in the world of turbo upgrades it is pretty close to what the std turbo will do)

Thats not to say its a bad choice. Just that i would perhaps think twice about throwing $900 cams at en engine using a turbo as small as the 2530.

That said a friends R33 use to use a 2530, it had baby cams and a greddy manifold and it was still the best, and probably one of the quickest street cars i have been in...it was also damn quick as the track the couple fo times he was good enough to swap keys with me.

C'mon Troy!

A 2530 is heaps different to a standard turbo. Just cos you can find someone with a stock turbo making 200rwkw and someone else with a 2530 making 220rwkw doesn't mean that the second guy wont shit all over the first. We've all seen 2530 powered cars beating much higher peak powered cars.

Sorry, i didnt really make myself clear. What i was getting at was perhaps you should think twice about using cams with a 2530.

I would highly rate the 2530 on the RB25. Like i said a friends old engine ran that setup and it was a briliant street car and very quick on the track.

What i was alluding to with regards to the size of it and the size of the std turbo is...ppl have shown that cams on a std turbo engine doesnt really do much at all. So was just cautioning that with a little 320hp turbo slapped onto the side of the RB25, cams may not give you the result you hope for...

As for 2530 on RB25...just make sure you have good tyres and suspension because they come on hard, and do everything you can to open up the exhaust as they tend to dropa few psi up high in the rev range

Ahh, that's a fair enough comment and may be true. I don't know anyone with a 2530 and cams but perhaps the higher boost capabilities would make them worthwhile where they are not with a stock turbo due to the boost restrictions imposed by it's fragility.

If looking at highflows check out some of the threads on them where we discuss the R34 and VG30 exhaust housings and how they are bigger making a highflow one of those better than a highflowed R33 turbo.

But that requires new manifold, an external wastegate...a hell of a lot of attention and expense for insulation of it and protection of all the engine bay ancillaries. Not saying its a bad choise, but a bit overkill for the power he is after .

Are you talking about the KKK or Garrett, cause the GT3071R needs no mods like that.... compariable to the HKS GTRS

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
