T88?

I saw a skyline with Twin T88 turbos with a custom manifold obviously mounted to an rb26dett. I was just wondering how long it takes to spool up a t88 turbo, and how long it takes to spool up two?

Lastly, why are the T88 turbos considered out of date? Can someone suggest a high-tech alternative.

a) A long time.

b) An even longer time.

c) Old design.

d) Garret T51r, Garrett GT45R etc...

They are expensive, and unless you have the right engine and setup to back them up, they are useless... so don't even dream about it.

i went for a drive in Secrt the GTR that UAS has for sale for $55,000 and it does not come onto boost properly untill 6500rpm

that has a huge turbo on it. and i THINK its a t88. can you imagine 2 ??? add another 2000 rpm ???

unless your engine is built to rev to 13,000rpm why would you put 2 of them on?

Seen big twins not make boost till 8000+rpm so quite pointless.

IIRC the Jun Bonneville car used twin T78 turbos for it's high speed record. But if you want to talk high tech the T88-38GK has some features that are way above Garrett's GT series.

Are you sure that its definitely twin t88? I don’t think you would fit 2 T88 turbo’s under the bonnet of any skyline.

It was a twin T78 (Seventy-Eight) 2JZ supra...

The bigger turbos place less thermal stress on the engine, which is important when you are at 1200hp for 3-4 mins at a time. The crappy powerband is not an issues, cause they use another car to push it up to 100km/h at bonneville anyway.

ynhrgt: you simply will not fit them in. besides, a single one is good for roughly 1000hp and as such i would just use one. there is honestly no point (for what you are doing) in running twins.

if you're completely set on running two turbos with a twincharge, i would suggest twin GT35's or something of that nature, with 0.86 rear housings. but you still will have trouble fitting it all in.
