When racing (qld raceway) I know my car is not setup the same as a V8 supercar and therefore im not chasing their lap times... Alot of people do...

Ill go as fast as i feel comfortable... I feel that if you push you self to the limits of the car you will have a greater chance of stuffing up and damaging youself or the car... Which is something i cant afford to do...

I do the same in hill climbs and targa... I have the car setup to handle more than i can give it... This way i drive to my gut feeling and dont push it too hard and finish the race everytime...

May not win but hey im in it for the fun...

To me this course sounds like they are gonna cram more info into you skull then can possiblly be remembered...

Remember knowledge can be a dangerous thing... LOL

I've done some research on this seminar, plus the others Claude runs. Unless you really want to do some serious study before, are really interested in data acquisition and are confident you can interpret the information with some real objectives in mind then it may not be for you.

It is a really full on presentation, and you may not actually get through all the subject matter as JE from autospeed found.

My desired outcomes were based upon a large acquisition of MoTeC gear for mil vehicles we developed, to get the most out of our VMS and a perceived future as a race engineer post retirement from the service. Unfortunately my injuries put paid to both or work would have paid for this and a higher level course.

Sure you will probably get to name drop a few from the supertaxi paddock but that may be about all.

Remember to make use of this you will have to spend a serious amount on datalogging hardware and software and then be prepared to put the time into absorbing the "take" and then make some useful adjustments......

It is a really good course (so I have been told), a few friends did it a couple of years back (2 of the three now work in v8 supercar teams) but it is only really cost effective if you are going to be working on race car design quite a bit, ie professionally. It is a very detailed course and prolly best suited to someone who has already had a bit of experience. The guys I know (who were all in the UNI of QLD Formula SAE team at the time) said it was a pretty intense course.

Having said that I'd love to go, I'm trying to get a job as a data / design engineer in a professional race team right now. While I'm at it; anyone know sombody in a professional team I can ask for a job? A name and number by PM would be great? :(

Right now I cant afford it. :(

Yeah - ive done a few of the 2 day MOTEC courses with Ken Douglas and Paul Masterton-Not sure about this seminar but just reading the list of things they go into unless you are going into the business of full time race car setup or want a job in the industry these do not apply to street/club cars like most of us have. Its awesome info and very interesting but 95% not relevant to a R32/33 on semi slicks doing 1-2 club sprint days a year

Ha ha ha After reading through this thread, I went on a bit of a research about the Q50/Q60. Now I'm quite intrigued by them! Is the AWD in them more like a WRX where it's always AWD, or is it more like the ATTESSA in the GTRs? By the sound of this TCU tuning, this sounds like a case of someone has made some real software for it, and you just need the right piece of hardware, and then you license that specific vehicle/TCU. Or is this a case of the software will be really expensive so only a few tuners have it, and you still have to pay a license per vehicle?
    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
    • Hi, SteveL Thank you very much for your reply, you seem to be the only person on the net who has come up with a definitive answer for which I am grateful. The "Leak" was more by way of wet bubbles when the pedal was depressed hard by a buddy while trying to gey a decent pedal when bleeding the system having fitted the rebuilt BM50 back in the car, which now makes perfect sense. A bit of a shame having just rebuilt my BM50, I did not touch the proportioning valve side of things, the BM50 was leaking from the primary piston seal and fluid was running down the the Brake booster hence the need to rebuild, I had never noticed any fluid leaking from that hole previously it only started when I refitted it to the car. The brake lines in the photo are "Kunifer" which is a Copper/Nickel alloy brake pipe, but are only the ones I use to bench bleed Master cylinders, they are perfectly legal to use on vehicles here in the UK, however the lines on the car are PVF coated steel. Thanks again for clearing this up for me, a purchase of a new BMC appears to be on the cards, I have been looking at various options in case my BM50 was not repairable and have looked at the HFM BM57 which I understand is manufactured in Australia.
