Hi guys,

A few of you came on the Get Well MR MEANER cruise we had a few weeks ago. Unofortunately Ash was unable to recover from injuries sustained from his car accident and passed away this morning. Gordon (Pres: STAR Crew), and everyone involved thankyou many times over for attending that cruise and supporting him/them when they needed it. I ask you once again, to please cruise with us, to celebrate Ash's life.

When: Sunday 30th April, 10am meet for a 10:30am departure.

Where: Nero's Carpark, Mandurah Forum: Cnr of Pinjarra Rd and Bypass Rd.

Same as the Get Well cruise, I'll organise a second meet point somewhere South of the River for people who can't be assed driving to Mandurah for the initial meet. We expect and hope this to be massive.

Please repost this in any and all car/motorsport forums. We welcome EVERYONE!!!

I'm expecting a fairly long cruise. From around lunch time till late arvo. We'll probably be heading on to a pub or meeting up later on for a few pre-wake drinks in memory of this top guy.

More details to come

Deano

Really appreciate this Dan, however, due to things needing to be attended to for Ash's funeral/wake, alot of people would be unable to attend if we held it this weekend, so we have to hold it on the 30th with a 10am meet for a 10:30am depart.

Appologies for the miscommunication.

Holy shit...

I'm sorry to hear this has happened.

RIP Ash, although it has been a long time since we have seen or heard from one another, you were an awesome bloke and you will definately be missed by many.

Will see what is happening, will try make it along for this cruise.

*reposted this cruise on TPC's website*

RIP, my thoughts go out to the Ash's family and his mates.

I've had the chance to meet him in real life and from what I gather, he was a good guy who will be sorely missed.

When I lose someone close to me, I think to myself that God loves them more hence wants them by His side.

My condolences.

No worries

SAUWA cruise date has been changed

All the best

Dan

It's a real tough time of day and day in particular to find places big enough to hold the amount of cars we're expecting. I've made the First SOR meet point at Woodman Pt carpark.

Where: Woodman Pt Carpark: Nyyerbup Cir off Cockburn Rd (2 nasty speed bumps need to be taken with care)

When: Should be around the 12 mid-day mark. If you really want to be sure you make it, come join us from mandurah!!! :worship:

For the people that still think this is too far south, we'll be at Kings Park around 1ish.

Hope to see everyone there...

Deano

best cruise we've had from mandurah yet, big up everyone who came along... was a relatively controlled cruise with people [generally] obeying all road rules and having an awesome day in the name of a well respected mandurahian.

some pics should be on the way shortly i guess.. still a lot of cars driving around with shoe polish on their back windows saying - R.I.P. MR MEANER - i won't be washing mine off for a while

cheers,

Dan

    • I hope it's actually possible. This is a write off in insurance world.
    • Yup. 2-way with shallow ramp angles. Still works.
    • That was the first session so not a lot to take from the day. It was low 20s ambient and the coolant had got to 110 (and obviously had some pressure!) so that still needs to be addressed. I haven't downloaded the data yet but will. I had refilled the auto trans with Redline DT6 because it claimed the best viscosity I could find at 100o. It wasn't really long enough to get a good feel for that; while the trans got to 100o in the session it still wasn't shifting crisply as I hoped. I think I'll try a few more sessions before judging. No steering motor overheat but I'd hope not in only 1 session! But finally the suspension; it was night and day over the standard stuff and the car was a couple of seconds quicker on the same crappy tyres, which is a huge difference. I'll stick with that and get some sway bars and a mechanical diff sorted too and see how that all goes together
    • I guess it’s partially a compromise of how my car is used, wanting to be able to switch from drift to grip with track side on-car adjustment. Also partially with the way the knuckles are set there is more static camber but less dynamic camber gain.
    • OK, so update from the track day on Friday It was a classic "an unfortunate series of events'. There were a few cars around and when i checked my mirror coming out of the fish hook I notice some smoke from the rear of mine. Looked again and it was getting much worse, I figured I'd blown a turbo or something to got off it and pulled off the racing line. However.... since it is a left hairpin into a right kink, I was on the inside of the next corner. There was a car passing me on the left and a big drop off over the ripple strip on the right......and someone had knocked the witch's hat that was on the apex about 1m onto the track. So, between those 3, I decided to mow down the cone and not damage my car/the other car. Right choice, but surprising result.  The car decided the cone was a small pedestrian so it blew the rear bonnet hinges up to protect their head in the upcoming person to car impact....I didn't see that coming and like an airbag deployment it happened super fast. Straight into the pits from there, everything was driving fine but it became clear it was a coolant leak not smoke, it was billowing up onto the windscreen. Onto the trailer and home. I'll do a separate thread about the repair (once I work out what it is ), but the immediate problem was the bonnet wouldn't open because the front was pinched onto the front bar and would not release. Ultimately we unbolted the hinge from the bonnet, pulled it back a little and it released from the front OK. "There's your problem", the top radiator hose had popped off at the radiator.
