Has anyone used Garrett 2560-10s yet? I want to use a pair in my wifes Tomei 2.8 thats slowly happening but would like some feed back before i make up my mind.Yes i know everyones going to suggest a big single but a GTR is twin turbo in my mind and will stay that way.

I care not for Drag racing ,Track is the place the car will be used.

Yeah arguably what makes the TO4Z cartridge is its TO4R compressor , the P trim turbine is a bit long in the tooth nowdays and long overdue to be replaced by one of the GT UHP turbines in a sensible size and trim .

The HKS version gets a leg up from housings that are not truck diesel types and can have custom AR's and diffusers to optomise for petrol performance apps .

Their GT2510 is old and old thinking compared to more modern GT28BB combinations , they learnt to lower the boost threshold by going down in comp trim rather than turbine trim and style . A couple of the SR20 spec GT-SS cartridges would be very interesting on an RB26 as they are basically a GT2530 cartridge with 60 rather than 63 trim compressors . Garrett sells this cartridge as well from memory .

Out of time cheers A .

I should grab some photos as it makes a lot more sense in pictures

I've attached a couple of pictures of the install I've finally got around to getting of the father's digicam. I've made some notes in the pictures. I'll try to remember to take some more (particularly of the front turbo and its support, and the top of the aircon outlet in the firewall) next time I have the car in bits.

Justin, as with several others, im running the HKS GT-SS's with Tomei Type B Poncams and making around 320awkw on a very safe tune.

The norm for most people running this turbo/cam combo seems to be around 315-330awkw, dyno and engine specs depending.

They are an awesome street turbo, particularly if you are looking for response.

I have garrett 25/60 and make around 228 kw at 5000 with a peak of 367 what does your car make around that rev range?

How hard was it to wrap the trust dumps? How much did you use in the prosess? I've ordered these dumps, and i'm currantly pulling out my turbo's and putting some 2530's in. (If I ever find who designed the R32 engine bay, i'm gunna kick em in the nuts)

Do you have anymore pics of your modding?

I would get them ceramic coated rather than wrap them (if I had my time again). When you put the dump pipes on the exhaust flange of the turbos the studs are extremely close to the dump pipes so fitting the nuts on is an absolute bitch, so much so it was impossible to have the wrap right up to the back of the dump pipe flange (the nut just wouldn't fit with the extra thickness from the wrap). YMMV. Some people haven't had this problem.

I can't remember how much wrap I used exactly. I bought one of these DEI Thermal kits. I am pretty sure I still have one of the 50" rolls left (but don't quote me).

I'll send you a more detailed explanation view PM.

    • I was 99% sure the standard one is long enough to get there, you might just have to change the throttle orientation. If not, I remember someone having used an r31 cable instead, but that is probably harder to find than r33 by now...
    • HELP   Hey all, Is there an accelerator cable from another Nissan that can be used on the R33 GTST RB25DET with a Greddy forward facing plenum?  Thanks in advance  Rob
    • Or do we think it was installed to give 1 bar of boost max, all day, everyday?
    • So could it be assumed it has been installed intentionally with potentially a power FC boost controller kit?
    • Had my rig on Matt's dyno at PITS the other day. After a few years between tunes I added a few sensors and swapped intercoolers. Result. 553hp at 26psi. Not bad for an FJ20 that was built in 2007. The problem.. It filled the overflow bottle on hard runs which leads me to believe the head gasket isn't sealing. I have a coolant pressure sensor which was reading cap pressure at 22psi and occasionally overrunning to 23/24 psi on deceleration after a pull. It was not spiking. It has arp2000 head studs and a cometic gasket. As its been 18 years in service, I pulled the engine out and head off. Everything looks good but we obviously have an issue. Where I'm at.. Years ago I had the same issue, I checked the stud tension and they were all over the place. Some at 60 to 70 and some up near 90. I nipped them all to 100ft lbs and this stopped the water push until now. I believe this compromised the gasket back then. What do I do? 2 options are..  1) I bought arp 625+s, which I could put in with a new gasket. Thinking Kameari this time, reassemble and try again. 2) strip the block, get fire rings machined in with copper gasket and try that. I do not want to push it more than 28 to 30psi. I think the turbo will be out by then anyway. (G30-770). My other concern is the long term ability of a copper head gasket. Are they streetable for years? I feel like a new gasket with the new studs will probably suffice, but I don't know. Any thoughts welcome and advice on copper gaskets and fire rings. Thanks!
