looks very flat...

i got my stock 33 dynoed (albeit in 3rd gear due to incompetent dyno operator) so yeah, its supposed to be in 4th, but in 3rd i got 182rwkw and a very steap graph compared to that 1.

going in for another run in 4th (the way its supposed to be done) next week sometime (only has a cat back atm) so i'll see how it compares to what you've got

Stock R33 @ 182rw/kw?? Doesn't sound stock to me...

My SII R33 pulled 144rw/kw (193HP) stock standard... (7psi)

3"split dump, Hiflow CAT and 3"CAT Back gave me 165rw/kw (220HP)... (8psi due to split dump)

Everything else is stock...

181HP = 135kw which is only 9kw less then mine... therefore its possible if your engine/turbo isn't in good nick..

What fuel were you running? How hot was the workshop temp? These all can easily make a big difference

Personally I would try a fresh tank of optimax/ultimate and dyno it in the morning or late afternoon...

Sarkis

read carefully, i said it was in 3rd gear...its supposed to be in 4th (which is what yours was done in)

another s2 R33 which has ~200rwkw was done in 3rd just to compare, and pulled 243rwkw, so it works out that mine would be roughly 140-145 if it was in 4th...

like i said, it was the dyno operators fault, so i'll be going somewhere else next week and getting it done again...only difference is now i have a cat back.

was running halfa tank of ultimate and my car was dynoed early in the morning to it was quite cold roughly 18-19 degrees im just confused why my boost dropped of sucha considerable amount practically back to standard psi

because you have a stock ECU, and it doesnt like going over 10psi..

even still, the power you got (being 9kw less than what QRI05E said he got stock) isnt really that low considering yours is the first of the series 1's being a 1993 model...where as QRI05E's is a series 2....its bound to be fresher, unless yours has had a rebuild, or his has been thrashed A LOT!

exatcly it aint dead stock why i aint to happy and i bought the car from autoworx which he freshly imported from japan with 90k on the clock i was talking to someone before and they think sumthings up with the boost because its dropping after certain amount of rpm

some 33's came with RB20DET's didnt they? and his is a 1993 model so maybe his is one of em?

No R33 came with an RB20DET from the factory you might be thinking of the RB20e that came out in the povo pack versions...

it feels great to drive i admit im just searching for power and the gusy at hyperdrive said i should get the boost checked cause if my ebc is set to 11 psi shouldnt it stay ? or is it normal that it drops back down to 7 or 8sh psi at high revs

Whats your base timing?

Maybe thats been wound back as a safe guard for running shit fuel.

You'd loose a heap of power if it wsa running less base timing than it should.

Whats your intercooler like?

Maybe check for leaks in cooler pipework, leaking BOV etc.

It all helps!

The gear does not matter dick, if you knew anything about dyno's you would know that. Its merely better to tune them in this gear as the ratios are closest to 1:1. Fact of the matter is a power run in 3rd will only move the graph left, ie at a lower speed...

Also its amazing how many "happy" dyno's are around and how many "supurb" results happen.

Sammie

I would look into why your getting a low result, maybe a restriction, drop the exhaust after a run on the same dyno and compare, there may also be other factors that you can try.

how can you say that?

how can a stock 33 GTS-T make 182rwkw when they are 187 at the fly. its not possible. and the car was bone stock.

again, how can my mates 200rwkw (in 4th) R33 make 243rwkw in 3rd?

well my car was on the same dyno as dezz's... and the result i got is consistant with results on other dynos... so unless the operator was doing something dodgy with dezz.... the dyno seems pretty accurate to me...... but yeah his car is 100% stock....

hmm guys this is real hard to explain but went to see aguy i knew had a look at the dyno sheet and looked under the bonnet for leaks etc he looked at the stock bov and saw that it wasnt blocked cause i hav after market bov connected near the pod he put some tubing on the end of it and connected it to another tubing line which is connected to the throttle body sorry im not good with motors but as i was saying i drove it and this time it actually felt like it was boosted however hit 1 bar so i let off straight away he turned my ebc off and i drove it was hitting .8 bar and felt much much better i could tell because the bov was much louder and could hear the pressure releasing alot more however in 3rd gear it almost hits 1 bar which i was told is veryvery unsafe for my car so i just putted my way home any ideas ?

    • That was the first session so not a lot to take from the day. It was low 20s ambient and the coolant had got to 110 (and obviously had some pressure!) so that still needs to be addressed. I haven't downloaded the data yet but will. I had refilled the auto trans with Redline DT6 because it claimed the best viscosity I could find at 100o. It wasn't really long enough to get a good feel for that; while the trans got to 100o in the session it still wasn't shifting crisply as I hoped. I think I'll try a few more sessions before judging. No steering motor overheat but I'd hope not in only 1 session! But finally the suspension; it was night and day over the standard stuff and the car was a couple of seconds quicker on the same crappy tyres, which is a huge difference. I'll stick with that and get some sway bars and a mechanical diff sorted too and see how that all goes together
    • I guess it’s partially a compromise of how my car is used, wanting to be able to switch from drift to grip with track side on-car adjustment. Also partially with the way the knuckles are set there is more static camber but less dynamic camber gain.
    • OK, so update from the track day on Friday It was a classic "an unfortunate series of events'. There were a few cars around and when i checked my mirror coming out of the fish hook I notice some smoke from the rear of mine. Looked again and it was getting much worse, I figured I'd blown a turbo or something to got off it and pulled off the racing line. However.... since it is a left hairpin into a right kink, I was on the inside of the next corner. There was a car passing me on the left and a big drop off over the ripple strip on the right......and someone had knocked the witch's hat that was on the apex about 1m onto the track. So, between those 3, I decided to mow down the cone and not damage my car/the other car. Right choice, but surprising result.  The car decided the cone was a small pedestrian so it blew the rear bonnet hinges up to protect their head in the upcoming person to car impact....I didn't see that coming and like an airbag deployment it happened super fast. Straight into the pits from there, everything was driving fine but it became clear it was a coolant leak not smoke, it was billowing up onto the windscreen. Onto the trailer and home. I'll do a separate thread about the repair (once I work out what it is ), but the immediate problem was the bonnet wouldn't open because the front was pinched onto the front bar and would not release. Ultimately we unbolted the hinge from the bonnet, pulled it back a little and it released from the front OK. "There's your problem", the top radiator hose had popped off at the radiator.
    • Yeah that looks like great caster, but I'd suggest trying less front camber some time and seeing if it helps with braking without reducing mid corner speed too much
    • I ended up setting the rear 5mm higher than normal to give some clearance.  My plan is to run the least camber I can in the rear which I think with the extra width is going to need to be -1.75 to -2.00° just to get clearance.  Guards have been rolled and pulled as much as they can/I would be wanting to.  front has the Acostal knuckle with the KPI change and the drop etc. So should be okay with the existing settings I have run with AR1s etc Front: Toe total -2mm(1mm out each side) Caster +7.5° Camber -3.8° Ackerman +15°
