Back to when you first bought your Skyline's, (which is going back for a lot of you, I know), how did you manage to come up with the cash? Im mainly focussing this question on those in the 18 - 19 yo age group because 16k + is a lot of $$$ when your that young and likely still at school/Uni/TAFE.

Im kinda curious 'cause im 19 and I have no idea what I could do/could have done to come up with enough money, apart from taking out a SERIOUS bank loan, if they' approve it.

Cheers

i am 19 and buying my first skyline (R33 GTS-T)

i am getting a $20,000 loan from the bank, and i am saving up for onroad costs ($4500) roughly including tax.

however i saw Merli's car on the weekend and i REALLY REALLY WANT IT!!!!!! but that is $5000 more than i have so if its still for sale in 5 months :S then i will buy it

:D i hope that helps ;) GOOD LUCK MATE

ahh sweet

well if u donyt exactly need the skyline just yet..... go buy merli's old one and put it in the garage till ya haven enough $ to reg it.... fuel atm is expensive so if i was u id buy it and drive this other one for a while.... thats what im doin anyway :D

Oh k.

Was it you KamikazeR33 that was saying earlier that you werent able to drive your skyline cause your 18 and on your P's?

I NEED a skyline and I mean need one. I almost had a fit today while browsing the forums cause I want one that bad, other thing is the deadline with the new import scheme etc.

I've been offered a job at any McDonalds in Perth but I mean come on .. its maccas for christs sake. Im also studying full time at Uni which also makes earning dosh much harder. Do you guys advise getting a 20k loan if its possible? My parents are pretty well off I guess and they know damn well I want a line so I was thinking maybe 10k bank 10k parents since no interest on parents loan.

Dammit, no financial freedom. :P

Dammit, no financial freedom

lol

no it wasnt me who was saying anything bout me not driving my skyline cos im on my p's

i was gonna buy a gtr but cos of the new import scheme coming in i decided to just buy a nice ser2 r33 gtst

my parents r well off but they didnt help me one bit :)

but if ur after a r32 gtst or gts4 it shouldnt cost u anything over the 15k mark.... u can buy a r33 for that price :P

also just remember a job is a job no matter what it is and it brings in money....

Yes, I know I should try not to be impatient but we all no that waiting sucks. :P

I have decided on the R32 GTS4 over a LONG period of time (Time is what I have). I know everyone hates these questions when they come up but Im a bit confused about the cost of a GTS4. I know you can get GTS-t's from between 13.5k imported to up to around 19k local. The GTS4 however seems to be quite a bit more expensive, I've seen '93 models going for as much as 21k, but this was probably just a bad example.

I will wait ... as long as this new scheme doesnt bite me (cause insurance is already gonna take a huge chunk). Maybe I SHOULD keep it in my garage and wait till I can cover on-road costs etc. At least I can keep it cleaner that way. :)

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

    • Yes, but, I paid cash and I'm pretty sure the receipt was in the bin 10 minutes after I got home Note to self, keep all receipts

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
