Hey guys, was involved in an accident last Monday, some tool went into my lane driving in the hills, I swirved and lost control (roads were wet + VERY tight space) and hence just found out today my car is being totalled ;):D We can't find the other driver, either he didn't see me crash (likely due to the amount of trees obsuring his view) or he just plain didn't bother to stop, so the excess is left to be paid by me; how nice!

Anyway, now I'm looking for a new car, definately gonna be a Skyline again, probably a S2 R33 but I gotta find the right one, prefferably with a sun roof. Anyone looking to sell me their baby nice and cheap?

Yeah I'm fine, save for a little bit of a sore back. Definately thank god for insurance, if I didn't have it... well lets say I wouldn't be too happy! Those Skylines are built like brick shithouses though, coming out of an accident like I did with basically no injuries definately says something for Japanese engineering

Was looking at something like this, I know it's in Sydney but I could always fly down (or up - symantics :)), what you guys think?

Sorry to hear about what had happened to your car.

The white R33 seems very neat to me. The price is also quite reasonable, looking at the amount of mods it comes with the car. The only thing that you would have to consider is that you might have to spend some money to remove all the illegal mods when it gets to SA. Transporting the car down/up from Sydney to Adelaide would probably another additional cost of 500-700 bucks, not unless you want to drive it back.

Have you tried looking around locally? But if a couple of $k's different doesn't trip you off the cliff, I guess the white R33 looks like a fantastic choice.

Bad luck man... don't be too worried about purchasing from interstate... I have done it twice in the last 12 months. Just bought my GTR from brisbane a couple of months ago and provided it is currently registered then it does not have to go thru regency. You just have to go for an identity check which can be done at sturt depot not regency... just to check engine/vin no.s ....its no big hassle.

I bought mine from Melbourne last year. Yes you are right... It's only an identity check thing. But if you are unlucky, they will still ask you to take off all the illegal mods before getting your rego in SA. It happened to me. They asked me to take off my tint because the legal tint in SA is 70% instead of 30%. Asked me to increase the height of my car... this and that..... Cost me a couple of hundreds to get them fixed.

Oh guys that's great news, I was worried about the whole regency thing, but it is registered so hopefully I'll be alright. I'm still looking around here in Adelaide for one but if I can't find one then I'll seriously consider interstate

I got my Stagea (registered) from Qld last year, took the obvious stuff off (like boost guage, boost bleed control, turbo timer, etc) on the side of the road prior to going thru Sturt Rd for the engine # inspection, and it wasnt a problem. Pulled over down the road and put it all back on again!

If the interstate vehicle is in a high state of tune then there could be problems, if mildly mod'd then just take off what you can prior to having the identity inspection. Dont get reamed into going to Regency tho......

Yep what the other guys said is true regarding blatantly obvious mods, but put it this way... I got passed at the id inspection in my 32GTR with an R34 motor, N1 turbos, pods, big injectors, cams, coilovers, bov's etc

So... its not real hard!!

Thanks for the support guys! vange, I'll take a look at that dealer, see if they have anything of interest, do you happen to know the price?. I've considered upgrading to a 34 but I'll probably stick with an S2 33. I've always said to myself the only 34 I'd get would be a GTR :)

As for how the accident happened, LONG complicated story to explain on the forum in text but basically, some ass came into my lane in the hills, sent me out of control and kept going...

My car was exactly like yours but a series 1 and had a sunroof, was a great little car, miss it VERY much. For insurance I went with Just Car and they insured me for $18500 so I get a bit of money back but I'd rather have my car and no hassle of buying another.

All these stories of passing through from interstate inspections is sounding better and better. I'd say the only things I'd have to remove are the PFC hand controller and boost controller, the rest should be cool

    • Apologies for the long post, but needed somewhere to lay out the entire timeline of events and actions taken:   I've got an 89 GTR with a R34 RB in it. It's been running great all year, driven probably 500KM in the last month. It's not my daily driver, just a weekend fun car.    Build info: R34 RB26 - HKS 2.7 stroker kit, HKS adjustable cam gears, HKS turbo upgrades, Trust intercooler, R34 factory DENSO 440cc injectors, JUN chipped/tuned R32 ECU. All of this work was performed in Japan back in 2019.    Thursday 10/2/25 - It's a nice day and decided I'll drive it to work, I start it up in the garage and I notice it took a few extra cranks and sounded a bit funny. I figure maybe it was just because it was a pretty chilly morning. I pull it out into the driveway to warm up a bit before leaving. As I leave the driveway, it feels very off and sounds like a misfire. I pull it back in the garage to deal with after work and take the daily to work. I was able to diagnose it as a cylinder 5 misfire with the old spark plug test (unplugging each plug until a sound change with the engine running). I take off the whole ignition system, ignitor, plugs, spark. *Important note, it is still on the R32 ignition system with the separate ignitor system. I test each system with a multi-meter and nothing presents as a smoking gun. I put it all back together and it starts up no issue. I go ahead and order the PRP R35 ignition conversion kit. It should arrive today (10/13/25)   Friday 10/3/25 - Another nice day, car starts up great and drives great all day. Very pleased that everything seems to be OK   Sunday 10/5/25 - Decided I'll take it to play some golf, load up and drive to the course about 25 minutes away. Drives wonderful the whole way there, I pull in the parking lot and the engine completely comes to a stop. I do not recall if it sputtered at all, but just remember all of the sudden the engine was off. I roll it into a parking spot, try to crank it back on and nothing.  It'll crank and crank and not even try to start. End up getting it towed back to my house and push it up into the garage.    Items I have checked: Fuel in the tank Fuel Pump relay Fuel pump fuse  Spark Plugs & gap Coil packs Ignitor    I know the cylinders are getting fuel as the plugs smell like fuel after a start attempt. I tried spraying starter fluid into the manifold and cranking and not even a sputter.    I decided to do the live CAS test (removing the the CAS, ignition on and spinning the CAS stalk to see if the injectors pulse and spark is active). All of the injectors were pulsing and I have spark at the plug. The half-moon end of the CAS did seem very loose, I'm not sure how much play is supposed to be there, but it was more than I expected. There was no in/out play of the shaft, just the tip end that is pinned on had quite a bit of play.    CAS Play video   When I put the CAS back in, I stupidly did not re-time the engine. I know I need to do that tonight, however, I do not think it will start given it seemingly was not the issue. My plan is to do the PRP R35 coil kit and retime the engine at the same time.    I plan on ordering the Haltech Nexus Plug-in ECU once they are available again, but ideally would like to get this sorted before firing the parts cannon at it and potentially adding more variables.    Anything glaring that I am missing here, I'm a bit at a loss?
