Hey guys,

Been reading on this forum for quite some time now and now finally deciding do to some purchasing of an r33.

what i was wondering is what peoples opinions are of an r33 gtst coupe(most likely series 2) being used as a daily driver. I have wanted one for quite some time now but because of age and insurance always decided against it. I am planning on using my line to take me to work and back everyday, which is a 40km drive(usually 1 hr), so 80km a day on weekdays.

What I am basically asking -is this a bad idea in your opinion? ;) What would be the pros and cons of this?

Cheers guys. :D

Umm I wouldn't see a problem in using it as a daily driver... Just about everyone on here does.

Pros on it would be you get to cruise for along time everyday in a Skyline :D

I guess ull be clocking up some k's on it quick.. but hey cars are ment to be driven!

With the fuel prices its gonna cost abit each week.

At 80K's a day you'll go through a full tank of premium per week so its up to you if you could afford it, assuming you get around 430K's out of a tank - ~$70 nowadays

For me, the highlight of the day is the drive to and from work so its worth it hehe

Good points guys.

Petrol will be no problem, plus I have plans to get my hands on a power fc and some kind of ebc.

Should have mentioned that one of the things that has me worried is reliability. At the moment I am driving a 92 Ford Falcon which is a work horse but a real bore to drive.

Mods will be kept fairly simple as I'm not searching any numbers(will c if I can keep this mindset once i've purchased the car :) ). plans are power fc, ebc, fmic, tbe, air filter and other suspension and brake mods.

I dont plan on keeping the ford. So am I gonna be spending most of time in hire cars while my car is in the workshop? or can someone here speak on experience and say I should be ok?

Maybe a gtr would be a different story?? :ermm:

Depends if you buy a lemon - get a prospective buy checked out thoroughly (compression test!).

The RB25DET is a very reliable engine and can handle mods. Just don't expect 2JZ internals when you strap on a turbo and run hi boost.

    • Sorry to hear your HFM BM57 was faulty,  did you contact HFM I would hope they would be at least grateful for the information if there was some sort of manufacturing fault, you would hope they would be sympathetic even if your item was 2 years old if it had never been fitted. May I ask where it leaked from ?
    • Cats are called Bella, and Donna...  Like that poisonous plant And I remember your 2 monsters, I remember making a little bit of wee when you let them out... LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
    • Not to mention they drive like a bucket of bolts! yuck!
