Yes I know it has been covered, but my questions weren't answered.

Does anyone local with Xenon headlights still run them?

I've got a set which will obviously be removed for compliance and am wondering whether they're worth keeping enough to switch the whole headlight units for factory halogen ones before compliance, or whether to just let the workshop modify them to halogens and not go to the trouble.

Obviously, if someone has factory halogen lights lying around, PM me.

Xenons aren't ADR approved.

The only reason European ones get them through is cause there are so many and they are self levelling, e'g' if ur car is driving up a hill they will lower.

The rules are shit but they are an unbelievable invention.

the more colour in the globe the less actual light from the globe, e.g. 5000k white lights up the most, and 10,000-12,000k purple least light.

I can do custom installs if need be, and they are only suitable for projecting through a lense as the light needs to be focused, so u need r31 lights or r33 gtr lights. Or u could go and get vx calais lights and modify them to your existing.

no all R34s don't have Xenons - mine doesn't.

I have installed an aftermarket HID kit in my R34, which i had in my S15/200SX. They worked brilliantly in my S15, had a nice cut-off line and all was good.

However, as WWWDOT pointed out, my standard R34 headlights are not projectors, so the HID light looks very bright from the front and there is no cut-off line. I am considering taking WWWDOT's advice and modifying my standard lights to include VX Calais projectors. I am very worried about getting defected for them, as even though I have pointed them way down at the road, they are still very bright from an oncoming car's perspective.

hay guys, I ran a HID light system on my race bike last year. I had a single HID set up on a 7'' hella. Was the best money ive spent. Hid's provide the best light, and the whiter the light the clearer everything seems. I Used the light in the 24 hour and all the other road trials and they are just amazing. I cant wait to get some for my car!

i heard that some places actually keep your 34 xenon headlights in exchange for the halogen ones when they do compliancing? correct me if im wrong

i was told best enterprises does this.. so some ppl might of had xenons in their cars but had them taken out without knowing??

who did you guys go through for compliance??

    • I downloaded the apps (for windows) and Consult 1 doesn't have this function on it for the Consult 1 plug which I'm pretty sure all Skylines have. You would think someone would have a workaround after 30 years for all Skylines which have ABS.
    • Also, I don't know the actual ABS system on the skylines, but a sneaky thing could be a piece of electronic equipment that makes the ABS think you're moving, and then same piece can send a signal for a locked up tyre... Activate ABS without slamming brakes...
    • The team at OBD2 Australia are pretty good, shoot them an email and ask them. I've dealt with them before for work stuff. I'd be shocked if it didn't work, so long as Consult can activate the ABS. But you might need to use KLine for it which would be the stopper, as I don't think that piece does KLine comms.
    • Yeah and hence my ghetto way of slamming the brakes, get the ABS to cycle, rebleed seems to be a sensible workaround.
    • Hey! Happy to help. Nothing inherently wrong with the adapter, it's more so with Brett Collins himself. He gave me a lot of incorrect information when I was in contact with him and was extremely rude when I challenged him. He stated I could not use any aftermarket twin plate clutches except for his own, not to use the dush shield, bla bla bla and it was all BS.  Collins stated to cut roughly 14mm's off the housing, I took off 15mm to make room for the dust shield. I would confirm with whatever adapter manufacturer you're using.
