Hi All,

I've just purchased my first skyline. The interior and engine are very good but the body will need a respray for it to be perfect. I've searched the Queensland forums and havent found any recent posts that would answer this question. So if anyone knows of a shop that does quality resprays on the northside please let me know. I dont mind paying more for great work either. Thanks in advance.

Nate.

Pickering smash repairs...

They do more imports than any other shop i can think of...

really? so u mean DMD never came to mind? ...then again northside....personally if i'm gonna spend the money i'd get it done by the best...which is why i'm giving DMD a free plug cos i've forked out 6k to them..

Reallly NO....

DMD are not on the northside, there fore i did not recomend them... Funny that...

Anyways Pickering Smash have enough experience and have a good wrap so why do you need to go further... What does DMD do that Pickering cannot. I have had a bumper replaced in one of my skylines and spray work done by them and have been happy with both the price and the quality was beyond what i had expected...

Stafford Body Works. Ask for Allen. Always working on prestige cars and quite a few imports. BMW's, Merc's etc.

Don't use DMD, they suck, I had a but of touch up work done and it had huge sanding marks in it, really amateur.

If you want someone really good try Shipstone at newmarket, they will cost you a fortune (they do lots of porsches, mercs etc). But If you want someone who will do a pretty good job woth out costing the earth give PJ Murphys in the Valley a call, I was happy with work they have done for me.

funny you should mention that....i had one panel of my old gtir sprayed at pickering smash repair and they did a great job. I didnt know until now that they are known for import work - i just went with them for the competitive quote.

very fast repaints at petrie- name sounds iffy but there good, just had mine done, 5700 for full colour chnge, looks really hot, DO NOT go to custom 1, they stuffed the car, had it for 6months only for the paint to peel within hrs, full credit to peter at very fast repaints for solving all my problems

    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
    • Lock me in mate, although I'm not sure if I'll be heading up from Goulburn or down from Sydney, either way, return will be back to Goulburn
    • Sounds good, we will aim to be there! @The Bogan I'll give you a shout if you are heading up to campbelltown for the meet too.
    • Before I get to the test day, just to finish off the android head unit. This is a demo from car start up....the standard/host system takes a few seconds to boot (same as all v37) but Android comes up quickly. In this vid I'm using the delivered launcher but have set the default to Agami since which is easier to navigate when if use primarily 5 apps. You can see the host system still takes over when required eg putting it in reverse, and you can switch between Android and not by holding the back button 3 sec. It is pretty responsive (fast) but you can see I had to press harder than expected a couple of times.  I still have the phone connected to the stock system, and that also seamlessly takes over Android music playing. v37-android-demo.mp4 The bigger reason that I put this in though is so that I can use Ecutek directly on the head unit. That gives me a dash with logging (up to 20MB only), high and low value warnings on any parameter etc etc. I've run a USB cable from the Ecutek OBD dongle to a USB input on the unit, easy. v37-ecutek-demo.mp4   The unit did freeze on the launcher the other day, I think Agami was trying to verify the license when it didn't have a data connection...will monitor and report back if there are any other problems but so far I'm very happy with the upgrade.
    • Nah that is just crappy GPS mapping, I did have a small excursion (cold tyres, damp track, surprise!), will post up that when I get a chance.
