Swinging Oil Pickup, Any One Done One?

well in an effort to try and make my rb20 track worthy when i put it back together ive been told about modding the oil pickup into a 'swinging pickup'.

im not sure how this is done or how i woud go about doing it but apparently it allows the oil pickup to move X degrees in all directions so that its always submerged in oil (least in theroy that is).

any shops or individuals done this, it seems like only a few shops have done this on their cars but those who have done it apparently dont have oil starvation problems on the track.

i plan to run a rb26 n1 pump with collar fitted to the crank so i just dont want to suck up air when cornering hard...

Thats interesting, i would like to know how to fab that up, might be useful on the new 25/30 until a dry sump setup is sorted out. Hopefully someone has some more information in regards to making that work.

Too dangerous, they leak and break. Buy a winged and baffled sump with one way doors.

I've got a High Energy circuit racing sump on my RB20 and it's an awesome piece of kit !!

One way trap doors, windage tray, extended oil pickup etc etc. And one additional benefit to these sumps is that you hold 9L of engine oil so you can extend your oil changes if you want.

Yes they are a bit expensive but it's cheaper that rebuilding your engine

They do exists for RB26's, I remember a guy on SDU USA forums pulling off a sump on a gtr and finding a genuine Nismo swiging pickup. From memory I think he threw it in the bin and went for baffled sump.

These are only good for Drag Racing when all the oil falls to the rear of the sump and you need to pick it up.

I have the same setup on my AMC 401 V8. It has a Milodon swinging pickup. Check out their site for it.
