a5h: a standard r33 gts-t does 0-100km/h in 6.18 & 14.4 in 0-400m.

if you take out the speed limiter, a standard r33 gts-t (rb25det motor) should pull approx 230km/h top speed.

if you add aftermarket exhaust off the turbo and an aftermarket air filter your times should be approx 5.8-5.9 for 0-100km/h and 14.0-14.1 in 0-400m.

A standard GTR, if it would be r32,r33 or r34 does approx 12.9-13.2 in 0-400m and a top speed of approx 260-280km/h i beleive (with the speed limiter removed)

Im not sure if my speedo is out but mine goes way past the 180km/h pin as well, atleast 190km/h (looks to be the same distance past the 180km/h as wher ethe 190km/h mark would be).

Thats pretty much flat in 4th and if you drop it back to about 175km/h and throw it in 5th it has just as much punch and wants to keep going.

I checked this out last thur. 7,200 in 4th (rev limit) is 198km/h. confirmed on my gps.

no sign of speed limit :D, 5th doesn't pull that hard at those speeds but I've done at least 215 without speed limiter.

stock except for 9psi boost.

i have a kakimoto ss exhaust. dump pipe, pod filter and running 11 psi of boost.

on the apexi rsm with g-force meter it records my 0-100 as 5.3 seconds. 1/4 as 13.5 and my top speed is 257 (the apexi rsm kept that) (i wasnt daring to take eyes off road). i set my speedo with a gps so it should be spot on.

no that would be a really technical way of doing it.

because the car has after market wheels and white dials in the cluster the speedo was over 10 kmh out. when i got the apexi rsm it allows me to fix this. so first up i sat on 60 kmh and corrected then checked at 100 and last off 150.

me smart like tractor

Mine is exactly the same in terms of pin position, looks to be doing 190km/h.

at your speed of said 190.... do you remember what's the engine rpm at 4th gear and 5th gear?????

I didnt look at the tacho on my first go when it hit the limiter [around 190 mark], but decided to do it again just to check rpm. Mine was in the area of 5,000rpm in 5th gear and still wanted to pull hard...until it hits the limiter of course...I can feel there is plenty more there, with the speed cut I think mine would get up around the 250 mark but the road / track would have to be very flat and long for me to try...felt comfortable at 180 / 190 :D

Hi Everyone,

I think you will find, the people who are hitting around 190 ish with the speed limiter are really only hitting about 180.. (if you have aftermarket wheels this will put it out) plus cars are always saying higher speeds than you are actually doing (factory cars)..

Take for instance some of the new porche's One said it was doing 320 (or something like that) but on the radar it was only doing 294kph... (this was out of a motor PCOTY magazine a few years back).

I though the Skyline in stockish form with out the speed limiter would get close to 240-250kph.

Well thats my 2 cents worth and feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

Regards

Rob

if u have wider wheels it will be out... but if the rolling diameter is the same should be fine.

Remember we are driivng jap cars - their speedos might actually be more acurate :)

Yeah i reckon max 240km/hr or so.. but remember kids: don't do this at home :D coz yeah, on a road its not safe.. if u kill yourself fine, but if you lose it and kill somebody else i'll hate you for eternity.

    • Hi Guys, Does anyone know any aftermarket part numbers for a starter motor to suit the VQ25DET? I can find lots of alternative part number for the VQ35DE, which I assume would fit, but there is a lot of conflicting information out there. Thanks..
    • I don't understand how this hasn't boiled down to - Upgrade the turbo when you have everything required. ECU, injectors, fuel pump, turbo, etc. Do it all at once.  If you don't have everything required, just enjoy the car as it is and keep saving up your pennies.
    • Sounds like you've got an interesting adventure ahead here with local support if you have trouble! My guess is that, unboosted, you will be OK with a small upgrade like -9. What will happen is that once the stock ECU sees more airflow than it expects it will add a heap of fuel and pull a heap of timing to be safe because it can't understand how it could get that much air without there being an issue. You will see clouds of black smoke and it won't pull hard through the midrange and top end. So, overall it will be a bit frustrating but should be OK. If you are still nervous set the base timing back 2o through the CAS, but it will be even more sluggish everywhere. As said above through...this is not my guarantee your engine won't be blown into a million pieces, leaving you looking for very hard to find parts A better idea is get a computer with logging ASAP, wire in a wide band O2 sensor and a use remote tuner. I've done multiple cars this way and while it is not as good as a specific tune on a dyno they can get it 90% right. I'd suggest if you can afford an R33 GTR these days you can afford an ECU and tune. And if you can't afford that you sure won't be able to afford the rebuild if it goes bad in the meantime,.
    • Yeah it would be nice if someone took the time to put that sort of information together, but there are a lot of variations in looms. I think you are making this way hard for yourself if you just want to get it running....sourcing an SR20 with the right wiring will be a billion times easier than matching the RB loom to an S15 chassis. If you do end up going this way, you just need to trace every wire in the loom with a multimeter, 95% of them will go to a location you can confirm at the ECU.....and then post it up for the next person who needs it
    • Just top it up with water, and keep a general idea of how much you added. It is normal for water to be pushed into and pulled out of the reservoir through the cap, and it should not be more than half full or it will be likely to overflow when hot. Any decent mechanic can do a pressure test of the cooling system to confirm if you have a leak. Keep in mind if it is only leaking a little and when hot it may well evaporate before you see it hit the ground
