Question is will they take the points away from the Ps or the Full Liscence....

Is this what you mean...

1) Go sit Full Liscence

2) Go pay fine

3) They take points away from Full Liscence

4) Green Ps not even considered

Thanks for your help!

Yep

The points stay, they stay for 3 years I think.

I recommend that she get her full licence then pay the fines, if she looses her licence on greens she wont be able to drive turbo cars as she will be in the new law?

I got a speeding fine comming home from the SAU XMAS cruise. 3points.

At the time I was on greens. And that week it was double demerits. I didnt pay the fine, kepted on delaying it. was on the 3rd letter.

Then I got my full licence and the day I got it I paided the fine, and now I have 3 demerits on my fulls.

Thanks Victor... I'll let her know!

d0p3y I don't think you quite understand the situation here... she only has 6 points to worry about. So if she is granted her Full Liscence, she'll have 6 points taken off - which leaves her another 6 to play with :(

Thanks

Yep thats right..

Green P's have 7 points, so if she gets them taken off now, she will only have 1, which kinda sux! And if she does and looses her licence (when still on P) that will suck.

Get her fulls - 11points, then pay fines, she will have 5 points left. which is better than having 1 when on Greens.

I WIN I GET BEER! :)

yeh thats how i understand it. you dont get the points taken away till you pay the fine and they get taken away from the licence that you curently have when you pay up.

so yeh, get full licence, pay fine, and then she will still be able to drive and not lose her licence. provided that the other 2 fines dont equal to more then 6 more demerit points.

haha i just noticed this has already been said.. stupid lazy me for not reading everything :P

aww what? free beer!? damn missed out.. ah well ill live :) .. drink jimbeam anyway lol

Hey Stan..

If i'm right:

The two other fines were each 3 points... the Corolla is registered in her mum's name so her mum copped one at 3pts and she copped the other at 3points.

I'm guessing she's already taken the 3 points on her green p's license..

than when she gets the new one - it either a) carries them over or b) resets to 12 points..

so potentially she has 3 or 6 points left..

Hope she sorts it out - i've got 3 gone for going through a school zone too fast.. not good at all..

hehe.. thats what i was trying to say! :) lucky her mum took 3, or she could potentially be sitting on 0 :(

I'm at work and about to go so I haven't read the thread but here goes..

To answer your questions: The points are taken the day you pay your fine (i.e. the day your money is received).

Next.. my 2c..

a. Your gf is a tard for not noticing signs, that's just silly so I hope she's pretty :woot:

b. Pay the fine of the offence that carries the most possible points without going over the number of demerit points she has on her license. In this case if any of them are 2 points pay that one. If not move to next point.

c. Ignore the first letter of warning of the remaining fines. In the meantime she needs to do what she can to get her full license. If she starts to run out of time, just elect to have the matter heard in court. This will take another month or two to get a date. If she hasn't received her full license by then she needs to write to the court clerk to reschedule the date, cite something important like family difficulties or weddings (I cited a HSC exam at the time) and they will reschedule it for you.. That'll be another month or 2.

d. Now that she has a full license and a couple of outstanding fines, either go to court (because of the court election) and get her to wear a suit etc and make sure she cries and looks scared. Will probably get the same thing as before, pay an extra $64 court fee and get her points taken from her full license.

Then she has to behave.

PM me if you need more info or this doesn't make sense and I'll give you my phone number.

Good luck!

I would pay the 3 point fine on her P's and fill out the court election on the 6 pointer.

Wait for about 2 months, then get her full license and either go to court with a good lawyer, go to court and plead stupidity or pay the fine and she should still have 6 points on her full license.

I would pad the payment of the fines out. She could also do the opposite and pay the 6 pointer and have 1 point on the Green P's and then delay the 3 pointer.

Either way, I think she can work the system to maintain her license.

Thanks Victor... I'll let her know!

This is not true. Points are 'carried over' from the green Ps to silver licence. I'll explain:

You have 7 points on green Ps. She copped her first 3 pointer. She now has 4.

The difference between Green Ps and Full licence is 5 points.

So 5 points gets added onto the licence when you get your full licence. she now has 9.

Minus the 6 points only leaves 3 points.

PS: she's very lucky that her mum copped one for her. Not many mums out there would.

PPS: The reason why I used inverted commas, is because you don't officially have points to be taken away on Green Ps. As said above, you get points when you do an offence. That is just a technical blah blah stupid way to look at it. Reminds me of what my teacher said in high school - the HSC is an exercise at giving marks. Regardless, give or take away, the outcome is the same.

Best of luck.

    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 🤔
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
    • Place the new daughterboard in the case and mount it using the 3 small black rivets provided, and reconnect the 3 factory ribbon cables to the new board Then, use the 3 piggyback cables from the daughterboard into the factory board on top (there are stand offs in the case to keep them apart. and remember to reconnect the antenna and rear cover fan wires. 1 screw to hold the motherboard in place. Before closing the case, make a hole in the sticker covering a hole in the case and run the cable for the android unit into the plug there. The video forgot this step, so did I, so will you probably. Then redo the 4 screws on back, 2 each top and bottom, 3 each side and put the 2 brackets back on.....all ready to go and not that tricky really.
    • Onto the android unit. You need to remove the top screen because there is a daughterboard to put inside the case. Each side vent pops out from clips; start at the bottom and carefully remove upwards (use a trim remover tool to avoid breaking anything). Then the lower screen and controls come out, 4 screws, a couple of clips (including 3 flimsy ones at the top) and 3 plugs on the rear. Then the upper screen, 4 screws and a bunch of plugs and she is out. From there, remove the mounting brackets (2 screws each), 4 screws on the rear, 2 screws top and bottom and 3 screws holding in the small plates on each side. When you remove the back cover (tight fit), watch out for the power cable for the fan, I removed it so I could put the back aside. The mainboard is held in by 1 screw in the middle, 1 aerial at the top and 3 ribbon cables. If you've ever done any laptop stuff the ribbon cables are OK to work with, just pop up the retainer and they slide out. If you are not familiar just grab a 12 year old from an iphone factory, they will know how it works The case should now look like this:
    • Switching the console was tricky. First there were 6 screws to remove, and also the little adapter loom and its screws had to come out. Also don't forget to remove the 2 screws holding the central locking receiver. Then there are 4 clips on either side....these were very tight in this case and needed careful persuading with a long flat screw driver....some force required but not enough to break them...this was probably the fiddliest part of the whole job. In my case I needed both the wiring loom and the central locking receiver module to swap across to the new one. That was it for the console, so "assembly is the reverse of disassembly"
