OK.

Who here has a completely closed ColdAirInduction airbox to fit pod filters?

Obviously to suit Stageas, Series 1 and/or 2.

Im keen to get one on my S1 Stagea prior to going for the bigger turbo & injectors and the retune, so Ive got my feelers out at the moment.

I like Maxx's CAI box, probably could alter it somehow (Im not good with my hands tho). Id end up using the normal snorkel air feed plus a feed of air from underneath. Just that I dont want to waste near $200 if it doesnt fit, and pay out someone another $100 to alter it to fit.

Terminal, Ice12, did you fellas end up getting one and trying it out for size? If so how did it go?

Has anyone seen a CAI fully closed box to suit a pod filter for the Stageas? AMS, have you seen anything as yet via MonkeyWarehouse?

Cheers all, Brendan

From Maxx, it was an R34 one, but my brother got an R33 and they were almost identical, both fitted in my car.

i used it for that same reason, so i have an enclosed box around my pod. as i said, it's not 100% enlosed, but i've got a massive list of things to do and it's not up the top. (garden needs a lot of work)

it works for now and i haven't had any issues yet.

So you are saying for sure that Maxx's R33 AND R34 cai box fit into your S1 Stagea with no fitting problems?

Cheers............. which one are you using?

I'm using the R34 one without the opening for the snorkel, my brother had an R33 one with the snorkel opening. It has a perspecs top to it as well, so you can see the pod underneath the box.

i can't remember the thread, it was a long time ago i bought this, let me have a look and i'll see if i can dig it up

I want you to fill it with these useful things. >_<

If all goes to plan I'll have a Stagea in the upcoming months, and I'll need somewhere to deck it out with parts.

Yes well that is the plan :)

I'm just still searching for some more things to stock.... I will be stocking Leatherette seatcovers. Hopefully for Stagea's too :)

SO BASICALLY - If you see anything which you think I should sell in my store, gimme a yell and we can sort somthing out :)

I bought Maxx's CAI box (that fits both R33 and r34 - its one and the same from what I understand).

It'll have openings for the air snorkel and standard intercooler piping. Going to paint it black in high-temp paint to give the engine bay a stock look.

With me not driving for a while (knees) I'll take my time fitting it along with more 4ply thermalflex silicon fmic join sections that I need to finalize around the wheel arches, and maybe throw in a dry-type air filter such as an Apexi one, dunno about that tho. Plus I'll add an air-feed from underneath the car - should be good.

I'll let you all know how it goes. Just getting things ready for a larger turbo/injectors combo at the end of the year (hopefully).

So I'll be selling a standard R33 airbox with hi-performance BMC filter (new), and custom R33 heatshield maybe with my K&N wet-type airfilter - all in good time.

Cheers All - Brendan

Yeah so lemme know how the whole thing goes. On a side note, I'm getting the IEBC installed on Wednesday... The guy was a lil confused. Why the hell does it have a line to the injectors?

  • 3 weeks later...

Ok.

Got Maxx's CAI box unit, very well made so can see where the $$ went.

Side part fits up with a slight bend to one fixing tab. But the lid definately wont fit, looks like I have to cut about a thrid of the lid away to make it fit snugly, that includes part of the perspex cover.

Also, due to the angle of the box in the Stagea the snorkel air feed now wont fit. So, Im going to talk to a local sau member about making up One MASSIVE BIGARSED air feed, ie like the standard snorkel, in metal with the correct angle I need to fit, but big like a SS Inductions / HSV aftermarket air feed.

So it'll be sit in front of the engine bay like one of those Falcadore aftermarket units. Will update with photos once the lid is cut back and the big snorkel air feed is made up.

Brendan

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
