I've got a JMS dump, it is pretty sweet and is a direct replacement for the stocker - don't have to rotate the front pipe like the arrow diffs ones... but if you are having a front pipe made up it doesn't make a difference.

Also, Daalder Exhaust in Box Hill have some dumps for R33s coming from overseas - ring them and ask them how long and how much - talk to matthew. They also have sweet sweet Pacemaker coated front pipes for like 220 fitted.

Thanks for the tip ronin, I'll give them a call. I don't suppose anyone has a GTech so I can do some before and after 0-100's etc for the fitting of the dump/front pipe?

Benm did a great review however the dyno graphs don't have a 'time' axis so the true gain isn't displayed.

Thanks for the tip! I gave them a call, and they'll fit a mild steel coated front pipe for $190! They also have stainless dump pipes for $350, but no 'combo' pipes.

Should I bother with a dump pipe for the stock turbo or spend more time searching around for one of these combo pipes? Unless I blow it up I won't be changing my turbo, and I really don't see myself spending $350 on a dump.

The guy from Daalder seemed to indicate most of the benefit is seen in the front pipe upgrade, and Nizpro advised a friends 200sx to not bother about one for the stock SR20DET turbo. Is this the case on a Skyline?

He also mentioned better response, acceleration and a 1-2psi natural boost increase :headspin:

Ok, before I'm about to lose my job from spending too much time at work on personal calls - I've narrowed my options to the ones below:

1. Just a front pipe, mild steel, coated and fitted in about 30 mins from Daalder exhaust in Box Hill - $190

2. Mail order a mild steel combo dump pipe from UAS or flyn.com.au - $320 and then pay someone here to fit it

3. Custom made stainless front+dump pipe fitted from Nizpro in Bayswater - $385 (would take a day to make + fit it).

I think I'll go with option 3 - thank you all for your opinions. A friend from work (BlueTwo on these forums) had his exhaust made by them at it seems pretty nice.

Just can't justify spending ~$350 on a Jap brand dump and then ~$250 for a Jap brand front pipe - sorry meggala! (I can't wait for the 'I told you so' when it starts to rattle and bump around!).

I had just the front pipe and cat back for a while, and my boost moved up about 2 psi everywhere; peaked at like 9.9 or so...

Any of the options above sound good, you can't really go wrong for 385 fitted stainless. you'll be really happy with any of these choices.

Great - that sort of boost level would suit me just fine (with the stock IC). And I wouldn't have to worry about installing a bleed valve and having it spiking etc I imagine. It's all booked in for next Wednesday...the anticipation...:looney:

I thought that it was much more responsive and the top end was definitely stronger. When you get the factory dump off, have a look at where the wastegate dumps to... it is basically a solid bit of metal about 5mm behind the wastegate. Don't get me wrong, while some people say that it is worse with the dump, simple fluid flow theory tells me that the lesser the restriction, the better.

I think Benm posted a thread with before/after dump and front pipe dyno figures, i think this is a pretty good indication of an increase.

Remember that all i have is a 3" dump / front pipe, a 'race' cat that flares out into a 4" Trust cat back, and a pod filter. I have 174rwkW, which i think is pretty good... Who is doing the exhaust system for you? Nizpro? I'd love to see / hear it when it is done. Below are links to pics of my system.

Yep, getting Nizpro to do the work. My thoughts exactly on the dump pipe. I've got 148rwkw (on a 4WD dyno dynamics - the one at Frankston Tafe, but of course, each dyno is different) with only a pod + 3.5" HKS cat back (done nothing the boost - only other mods are suspension related).

With the extra flow and natural boost rise, I'm very interested to see the results on the same dyno. I know people with FMIC's and cat backs that really don't get that much more on the same dyno.

Then I can check out my A/F's as well to see if a S-AFC II is my next mod (or EBC or Flywheel) - obviously I'm a subscriber two rev210's theories. Which reminds me, I better get my ass into gear and built that cold air partition.

Where are those links (of your exhaust)???

Off the topic, but my mate got defected in a 300ZX TT tonight; too low, bald rears and no number plate lights. What interested me more was that he passed the EPA random test 10m down the road after the breath test. They were on doncaster road near westfield. What worries me now is that if i get random EPA tested, will my car pass the emissions test...? Remember it has a 'race cat' (read no cat) but i think my mate has gutted cats... SO in summation, can the car still pass emssions without the cat?

Well, f**k! Just rang Nizpro to confirm my exhaust fitment tomorrow, and he said its just a front pipe! Front pipe for $385 - forget it! Now I've just wasted a week waiting for them. He also swears that the dump pipe doesn't do anything whatsoever, and is not a reliable piece once an aftermarket one is fitted. This completely contradicts what the guys at UAS say, they said even on the stock turbo you'd be suprised the difference it can make... :argue:

Doh - now back to me being confused again... hmm maybe a 30 min fit by Daadler is the way to go - 190 for the front pipe in mild coated...? Not sure...

Matt from Daalder rang me the other day about where i got the dump; was that for you, McCracken? Sorry to hear about your stuff around, it'll all work out and be sweet. You will notice the difference. I went down the Great ocean road yesterday, and the midrange improvement was awesome. Good luck!

    • I don't know it is due to that. It could just be due to load on track being more than a dyno. But it would be nice to rule it out. We're talking a fraction of a second of pulling ~1 degree of timing. So it's not a lot, but I'd rather it be 0... Thicker oil isn't really a "bandaid" if it's oil that is going to run at 125C, is it? It will be thicker at 100 and thus at 125, where the 40 weight may not be as thick as one may like for that use. I already have a big pump that has been ported. They (They in this instance being the guy that built my heads) port them so they flow more at lower RPM but have a bypass spring that I believe is ~70psi. I have seen 70psi of oil pressure up top in the past, before I knew I had this leak. I have a 25 row oil cooler that takes up all the space in the driver side guard. It is interesting that GM themselves recommend 0-30 oil for their Vette applications. Unless you take it to the track where the official word is to put 20-50w oil in there, then take that back out after your track day is done and return to 0-30.

    • I take it that the knock retard is from bearings tapping a little tune? Thicker oil is a fragile bandaid. You need a much bigger oil cooler and probably the bigger pump being discussed.
    • Hi @Chupapy i had several leaks from coolant pipes being corroded, i also had one leak on back of the head onto transmission. For me that leak was from the turbo water line. Follow the line to the back of the head The hose and metal pipe had perished these are the best pics I took of it at the time
