hey all, i've got some new second_hand rims and they have met with the gutter a few times - got some nice rash on the outer edge. just wanting to know if anyone knows of a place in melbourne that can do wheel repairs, and how much?? pref in nothern subs.

the wheels have a polished metal dish on the outer, that looks to have a clear coat over it. no painting would be required other than that. and they're not bent, just scraped. thanks in advance.

There is a place in moorabbin I've been to for an old school centreline wheel repair. Its called something like AJAX rims or something. look em up. They specialise in steel rim repairs. The old guy I dealt with was very helpful coz I wasn't sure what needed to be done. Wasn't close to me but was the only place I could find that could do the job. (steel)

Do you know if it is alloy or steel? That will determine the repairer you go to.

There's plenty of alloy wheel repairers around. Good luck.

yeah Ajax, near where IKEA use to be

the wheels are work ryver's, they're two piece and i'm pretty sure they're alloy. if the outer rim was painted then it would be a simple sand/fill/spray job - but cos they're polished i think thats a job for the pro's.

does this ajax joint deal with alloy's?? i don't think a steel wheel place will be much use - they're not bent, just guttered.

AJAX would be no good for alloy. Plenty of them around that specialise in alloy repairs. one in moorabin that I went to first. not sure of the name.

Yeah I should've known they wouldn't be steel. It'd be sin to put heavy steel wheels on a skyline.

Try Coburg Mag Wheels. 93544641. Worked for me.

cheers fellas, got a few numbers to keep me busy. i'll get some pics and quotes and post them up to give ya'll an idea what you'd be dealing with if it is unfortunate enough to happen to you.

TIP: if u upgrade from 6" wheels to 9" wheels with similar offset, they're going to stick out a fair bit more - so remember that next time u turn past a gutter :P
