I am looking at buying some Recaro's for the Stagea s/hand

I have a few different cloth trims to choose from

They will be going in a series 2

I may also consider re-triming down the track the rear seats and door cloth inserts, so I will need to match the trim of the front seats aswell. So that needs to be considered

Will red be too much?

I am leaning towards the red ones as they are in the best condition

I have a Hyper Rev mag with over a 100 pages of Stagea's which shows all these cloth options in the cars, and they all look good. I just can not make my mind up :fakenopic:

Also have the option of the grey R34 GTR East bear seats new, but they an extra $600-700

One other option is R32/R33 GTR seats which bolt straight in, but would look at retrimming them

What are thoughts?

i'm keen to get new seats too, although losing the electrics and leather front seats might be a downer. is one of those picture in leather?

i think the stageas need better front seats if you plan on upgrading the speed/handling of them. the seats don't really wrap around enough for my liking

I think the third ones are leather. I think 2 tone leather would be a good re trim idea id like black bolsters with grey inserts if it was me looks sporty but also luxury and not in your face and you could match the rears if you had the $$$ another option is coloured stiching depending on what you like ie red stiching in the leather if you had an all black seat and you could get your gear boot and handbrake boot done the same would look the goods imo

I'm yet to sit in GTR seats (either that, or I can't remember), but I love the way they look. It's such a clean and simple design, yet functional.

The third set looks the best, closely followed by the fourth. I would love leather with perforated leather inserts (which is kinda what the third set looks like anyway), or perforated leather with suede or alcantara. And black/grey or black/dark green to match my paint would be nice. I wouldn't do it if my car was red, yellow or a bright colour, though.

Also, don't forget Duncan has sets of seats going at reasonable prices too - link here...

Red Recaros. Means business. Comfy. Looks tough. and everyone will go "wow look, red recaros!"

youd have to go 5pt harnesses but, or it would look a bit weird, hey. which can be an inconvenience. just my two yen.

the red inserts i think would lok awesome in the black doorcards.

most of the guys who have sat in my series 2 S like the seats (they are a bit different to the series 1 ones..) so while they may not be as gucci as what you are considering, they might be cheaper to pick up second hand. Would anyone who has sat in mine like to comment?

Factory seats just don't cut it when it comes good side support

I have sat in a series 2 260RS Autech

you could go the gtr seats just because they would be an easy fit, and look at getting a pair of the leatherette seat covers that had a thread going a while ago. being a bit more common than stagea seats, shouldnt be a difficult find, even getting a colour to suit.

I know that R32 GTR seats and rails bolt straight into R33, so seeing as the floorpan of the Stagea is similar, if not the same, then it shouldn't be an issue.

Removing the seats while they're still on the rails, is probably the quickest and easiest way, anyway, isn't it?

I have been speaking to Jake32 and he has R34 GTR seats in his 260RS. They bolt straight in as do R32 and R33 GTR seats.

R34 GTT seats do not as the R34 GT 2WD has a different floor pan.

Jake32 said that the GTR seats sit a bit too low. He did admit he is a bit short to see over the bonnet

You can not just un-bolt the rails from any of the factory Nissan seats and re-use them on aftermarket seats

You will need to use the Recaro/Bride rails to suit.

I have noticed that the Stagea Recaro/bride rails sit higher than the R32, R33, R34 rails.

Terminal hope this helps

Gtr seats are one of the best factory seats for comfort and handling, I had a set before in my R32, but I am yet to see a set that have been re-covered that look any good. That is why I was leaning towards the Recaro.

the seats in this car are the most comfortable and supportive for a "race"seat i`ve ever come across

just change the logo to "tommy hilfiger".....how gucci is that :P

They are either SR 4, 5 or 6

Got offered a set of them in the blue trim for 2K out of a Evo 6 or 7

Blitz has a set of Recaros with rails for 850. Drivers needs a cover but at that price it's really worth a look even with shipping and trimming, especially with the rails.

BTW Steve, I still owe you some for the GTR cooler hoses. Much appreciated. Or are you gonna make me turn up with a few cartons once I've moved home to Brisvegas?

    • For these last 7 years of ownership, I've always had to use a small scissor jack under one of the front tow hooks to raise the front just enough so my low-profile jack fits under to reach my subframe jack point. I'm beginning to get annoyed of always having to do this. Are there any lower low-profile jacks that fit under the gtr lip on a dropped car?
    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
    • Here's an idea, answer the questions I asked you as they are trying to work out WHY the LSD will be binding up in a straight line.
