hey guys,

I have an R33 GTS-T 95, I justy got my breaks changed and the mechanic said that the R33 pads are diffrent then the ones I have on the car therefore we tried the R34 which fit staight on (not sure if its an upgrade in breaks or what)

I got the discs machined and changed all four pads. The problem is that when I am coming to a stop I get a realy bad almity HIGH PITCH screatch. which is the worst I have ever heard breaks Screatch, I did a search and found some help (eg: anti squeal red stuff which I used) but had no sucess in geting them fixed my mechanic had a few looks at it but unfortunantley has not been able to fix the problem.

is there anyone who has had the same problem if so how do I fix it ? and help or input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Guys

Hey i had the exact same problem a few months ago. I had the discs machined, swapped twice and it was still like that. Both the pads (bendix ultimate) and discs were brand new when the screeching started. Finally, the workshop decided to change the pads and tadaaa the sound was gone. It seemed it was the pads fault. So from what I have learnt, unless the rotors are glazed, which wouldnt be the case with yours since you machined em, it would be the pads problem. Try and determine which side the squeal is coming from and that should be the faulty pad. You shouldnt have to use the anti squeal stuff on brand new pads, which is only supposed to be used as a stop gap measure on ancient worn down ones until you can afford new ones.

Hope that helps, cheers.

I have replaced my rotors and pads recently with RDA rotors and Bendix Ultimates (dusty bastards).

The one thing I found is that Bendix part catalogue has the wrong brake pads listed for the R33. I spoke to Bendix and they confirmed to me that their parts catalogue was wrong for R33 Skylines and that it was fixed but the new catalogues were not distributed as yet...

The person at Bendix I spoke to owned a R32 GTR and said he had the same problem and that the part number he gave me was guaranteed to be right, sorry I didn't keep that part number for you... So I took em back and got them to order in the other ones...

Same problem here. Guess i'll have to take the car back to my mechanic (don't know how to do much on the car myself). It desnt happen at first, but after a few times of braking, or one hard brake, it does it non-stop. It's getting rather embarrassing too, people keep looking at the car in the street.

Cheers!

Take the car back and let them drive the squealing bitch if they don't believe you..

As for your problem it'll most probably be caused by too much brass in the brake pad, dodgy batches slip through every so often.....The solution is to exchange the pads for another set and try again. It doesn't happen very often but in the past 2 yrs i've seen it twice on my cars.

Some pads squeal but it is usually the harmonics , evo's do it all the time when genuine pads are not used. The part no should not be a problem because they are a different shape for each part no so the wrong part no would not have fit in. If you have BENDIX pads in they offer a replacement warranty it is written on the box.

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
