Hi guys,

Im looking at getting into a DR30 Skyline.

I have some durability questions as i will be drifting this car at the track on a regular basis.

How strong are the gearboxes?

Are the Gearboxes replaceable with other nissan boxes?

Is the Diff an r200 and is it the same as a later model nissan diff?

What is the factory power limit of the FJ20et internals?

Are FJ20's reliable revvers?

Hopefully tommorow i will be able to post my new DR30 in this thread so you can see what im talking about.

Thanks guys

Andylaurel

and one more question

with regard to the swing arm IRS, how does this affect rear camber when the car is lowered significantly?

Is negative camber easily corrected with adjustable links?

thanks guys

For rear camber, my HR is down by at least 50mm and I only have 1.5-2 degrees negative, but SWR or Stewart Wilkins Motorsport at Mulgrave NSW can do adjustable rear trailing arms for about $800.00.

The car is fairly reliable and some good ones are for sale on here for fairly good prices if you ask.

Try hrd-dr30 for 1, his is for sale

Cheers, D

So is this going to be a new drift project Andy? Sounds good!

Another thing you may want to think about is the steering box arrangement that they run.. Although it is possible to replace with a bluebird rack.. Theres a few topics around in this forum about the conversion.

They run a 'long nose' R200 wich are getting hard to come by.. Especially aftermarket ones. But stockers are easily shimmed up.

Stock bottom end in good condition are extremely reliable. 300+ rwhp fairly safely. Intercooled versions run slightly higher comp.

Boxes are also strong- but are getting old and tend to have worn synchos alot of the time. People have used RB25/RB30 boxes on them. unsure on cost though.

    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
