Well, I understand you want this information, but you need to understand the difference between a group buy and a sales thread.

Here, SK is not making any money, he is simply supplying a product at a discounted price to multiple people at once. Its assumed that people that get involved in group buys know what they are buying and therefore just find it at a better price being in a group (economies of scale purchasing).

On the other hand, in a sales thread, the sales person is trying to sell the product. Therefore he needs to know all the information about the product etc to actually sell it to the customer.

As above, call GCG or have a look on their website www.gcg.com.au. Specifically, here http://www.gcg.com.au/Catalogue_Menus/Upgr...pgrade_gtst.htm

ok so gcg normaly charge 1950 to hi flow your turbo, but this group nuy offers tge same service 300 cheaper.

the website says these are rated at 450hp, and this thread say capable of 265 rwkw?

is 450 hp the engine figure?

450 bhp = 336 kw – 70 kw for drivetrain and roller losses (Dyno Dynamics) = 266 rwkw

Just asking the question as the car is paid off in the next fortnight so its time to look at what to do next.

How does it go for RB20s? I would be guessing same as NEO RB25s? Then what if I wanted an RB25 turbo for the extra size? Could I do that?

People who have installed them have said they are a lot more laggy than stock but when they come on, its like BOOM.

Ive been told they hit full boost around the 3500 mark compared to an RB25 where it still hits around 2750 or so.

To me, the top end is where its at as long as it doesnt hit FB at like 5000 rpm like a massive laggy bitch turbo does.

Keep in mind that Alex hasn't done any tuning. You can usually pick up around 250 rpm earlier boosting with tuning.

:) cheers ;)

Hey gary

thought i might be able to save you some time. GCG offer a 10% discount to sau members, which works out to be about 1750 anyways.

Cheers

Yep, I know, but not all of the guys on the forum are members. Plus the Group Buy includes all of the necessary gaskets and seals plus delivery to anywhere. So it's a little cheaper.

:P cheers :D

Sorry I missed this post. Suggestions follow;

1. Same as Neo

2. Yes

3. There is zero difference between the RB20 turbo high flowed and the RB25 turbo high flowed. I wouldn't bother.

4. Yes, but refer to above

;) Cheers :D

Definatly feel the upgrade over a stock.

Untuned my Stagea had 160awkw through an auto with 14psi, no tune what so ever and a full exhaust. (compared to a stock 115-120awkw)

So the Hiflow turbos off an RB20 will fit an R34 NEO engine Gary?

Yep. Obviously it would be slightly better (for max power) if you used the R34GTT turbine cover when the high flowing was done.

:D Cheers :nyaanyaa:

Question for SK to get an Idea for the 2L boys.

Standard Rb20 with normal breathing mods - pod, intercooler, good exhaust, EBC etc.

What rpm does it start boosting?

What boost pressure have you found to be the most efficient to make power?

At that pressure, when does it hit max boost?

I understand that you probably feild questions like this all the time but I know that you run a GCG highflow on your rb20det and am very interested to hear your very knowledgable experience on the all round performance of this engine/turbo combo for a street car and what mods/tricks get the best out of this package?

Understand if you don't want to rewrite essays but any info would be most appreciated!

put this turbo on the car on the weekend and its bloody awesome boost comes on hard and car easily boost to 16psi on stock acuator give thumbs up for this turbo :)

Ok remembering my GCG Hi-flow was based on an rb25 turbo (bigger turbine housing than rb20).

You will get the turbo spooling around 3000rpm and expect full boost between 4200-4500rpm with a good elc boost controller (full boost being around 15psi), my turbo will hit 20psi at around 4800rpm but has external gate (internal welded up due to an uncommon creep problem) which actually made it slightly laggier for some odd reason!

My turbo made 300rwhp on 20psi, remembering it doesnt need those boost levels on an rb25 to make more power (bastards... lol) but the rb20 needs the higher rpm's and boost levels on the turbo.

With some cam's i believe you can get the boost on quiet abit earlier! And with an rb20 turbine housing that little bit earlier again. Its a great turbo for the street, it does suit an rb25 better but i have no problems with the lag on the old rb20 :(

Now Andrew you better come on the cruise on antilag on friday for tests! We need a driving comparison for the hi-flow performance on an r32 rb20 against an r33 rb25 with more power n more weight! :D

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
