R32 Gtr Wheel Sizes

iv heard u have to put all the same size wheels on a gtr ?? is this true what would happen if i put differnt sizes on ?? thx guys

ATTESSA will be all screwed up as it thinks you are slipping (due to differing rotational velocity front->rear). 4WD will not behave normally and you'll prob end up burning out the clutch in the transfer case.

I often wonder how much actual tollerance their would be with different tyre sizes for example.

235/45/17 = 202.10cm (circumference)

255/40/17 = 199.74cm

So that is a 2.36cm circumference difference which is the equivalent of 3.75mm of tread depth difference between the 2 tyre sizes.

Now I know for a fact that my front tyres (255/40/17) have a larger tread depth than my rear tyres (same size but different brand) due to just natural tyre wear so would this difference likely to be burning up my attessa clutch?

Another comparison would be having 225/50/16 on the front and 255/40/17 on the rear with the difference being only 2.2mm of tread depth (even less than the example I gave above).

Good points Ben. You wouldn't think something that close (and common wrt tread wear) would cause dramas with the transfer.

A while back I found out I had ATF in my transfer - uneven tyres couldn't be worse than that!

The width is irrelevant. It's the rolling circumference that you're interested in.
