so do any of you recomend any yards in brisbane or the coasts?? I don't have to buy from a yard but having some sort of warranty (however good) is always a bonus.

I guess the only issue with buying from a yard is you end up paying more than you should ??

Warranties are pretty scammy.. You always hear stories about them not paying out, or fixing things the cheapest / dodgiest ways possible which only stuff up again later. Especially up here. If you're going to do that, may as well do that youself.

My philosophy is buy private, save the $2k or so, and if you get a dud, spend that $2k fixing whatever stuffed up. Especially if its an R32.. what's an rb20 engine these days - $1200?. The only time I'd buy from a dealer would be a lease situation, more formal situation for writing it off on a business, etc.

yes good points on the warranty....I also spoke to a couple of other people today who also told me that should I mod the car (fair chance of that :spank: ) then the entire warranty will be void with most of them.

Don't kow why, it just feels safer buying from a dealer, but then again, I am talking about buying from a skyline enthusiast after all so buying private should in fact be the safest option :)

Took a 4 door R33 gts4 S2 with rb26dett for a strap last night....shouldn't have done that :D want a GTR now :D But can't afford it so I'm stickin to the R32 plan :)

Thanks again for the welcome guys and girls

First decision is do you prefer 4wd or rwd?

Remember that ALOT of import odo's are wound back.. Don't rely on the reading if there is no proof.

You can get a private Warranty.. Also use RACQ or the like to do a mechanical check. I personally would never buy from a car yard.. Especially imports where the mark ups are crazy.

Oh and R34 4 door ftw

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
