has anyone applied for this one yet? I know Patrick and I applied for the Soft Eng position, but haven't seen anyone saying that they're applying for this one.

They also have a dyno in the building :)

I'm fixing up resume now.

Might give it a go. But i'm not moving for less than 70k.

Congrats to Patrick if he did get it :rofl: D'oh for me though lol, I thought my experience would let me down, another 6-12 months I should have the required C++ experience, but doesn't help right now :) I guess I should be expecting a commiseration call :woot:

Yeah, after three interviews I got a letter of offer today, starting there on the 31st of this month.

The gtr is in for some tough times now i think :nyaanyaa:

Best of luck with other jobs Justin, apparently they had between 50 and 100 applicants for this position. Honestly i'm surprised i got the offer.

I'll probably stay where I am for now and try to get my C++ experience up over the next 6-12 months. Of course I'd hope to get an inside word on any other positions opening there :O

They said in the interview that most people got the number wrong during the test, so I can at least take heart that I got it right :nyaanyaa:

Yeah that thing was easy, felt like I was back at uni again.. they did a few nasty things though, for example

Class c

(both 'mx' and 'my' are initialised with the constructor parameter 'x', 'y' is unused)

Once they got onto asking me about design patterns things got a bit more interesting >_<

yeah there were a few traps for the unwary, usually with not using y when you expect them to etc.

My design patterns knowledge sucks :( Uni never covered them, and I haven't had to use any, I could name a singleton though >_<

More study required! I think I may have to do some more personal projects to help, does the world need more Consult software? :(

There was an awesome job for Bosch advertised last year where you design new ABS, stability control and traction control systems and get to travel to places like iceland, germany (nurberg ring) etc and actually test the systems out in different conditions. Needed alot of C++ knowledge also. Dream job

Haha, though the thread title says otherwise, the position Patrick got was the Software Engineer position.

I heard someone went for the Sys Admin position and didn't like the number

mmm.. It's definitely beer time, last day of bloody sinus medication today, bring on the weekend!

As far as the $ is concerned, it's competitive with the rest of the market, this rate is for a 6 month trial contract. I think there's a possible re-negotiation at the end of that.

      Could you modify this duct so instead it pushes the extra air through the radiator too and not down and out? For temps, I know it's not the greatest idea, but as a bit of a last resort, you could use a very intermittent misting spray onto the front of the coolers/rad. You don't want to be soaking them such that water is dripping off, but a small most on/off so that the water evaporates. That point of it constantly evaporating, rather than being soaked in water, will pull a LOT of heat out of the cooler. I'm literally thinking just the little mist sprayers for a garden from Bunnings. Being in a low humidity climate it will help even more! The other trick if you want to be ghetto is some shade cloth hung in the opening, and keep it wet. Pretty much now it's acting like an evap cooler on a house, but cooling the air you need to use to cool the radiator...   On a topic to think about too though, when air enters through the bumper, is it all nicely ducted from the edges of that opening back at a nice angle, or is it like most cars, and the edge of the opening just stops, and suddenly it's wayyy wider behind that? If it does the later, get it shrouded out at nice angles. When that opening changes too rapidly, it can actually cause a high pressure zone between the front bar and radiator, and limit air flow into that area, which means less air for cooling, as it effectively stalls the air, AND adds to drag...

      It doesn't look like there's a lot of options out there these days, and what's out there is performance oriented aftermarket stuff (with the GTR markup) I wonder if there are other cars with similar springs, after all its just a matter of length, diameter and stiffness. Alternatively, I did see coil spacers. Probably not the best option, but could be serviceable too.
