Just browsing through the herald sun on the train and noticed this, thought some people might be interested in some (relatively?? i think??) recent developments. P-Plater restrictions, now car impounding whats next.

"New laws will give police powers to impound, immobilise or confiscate cars driven dangerously

Burn-outs, doughtnuts, drag racing and other anti-social and dangerous road offences will be enough for police to seize a vehicle.

"Cars driven by first-time offenders will be held for 48 hours through impundment or on-site immobilisation" (Wouldn't be to keen on that, would come back wheel-less engine less windowless and stereo-less most likely)". Drivers caught a second time within three years face losing their cars for three months. And a third hoon-type offence within three years will mean permanent loss of their wheels. In which case it will be sold by the state of victoria which will keep the proceeds."

So i suppose they do give you three chances and im not really worried about any trouble myself. But i do think there going a bit overboard with all these new road rules and regulations. Ne wayz just thought it might be handy for ppl to know

lol "anti-social" driving... ahahahaha

im confiscating your car for snobbing that other car at the lights... just cause your driving a merc doesnt mean you shouldnt and cannot fratinise with the lower end of the market.

"why are you taking my car?"

"because u didnt say hi to others on the road"

i think they mean we have to give more love-taps

and wouldnt drag racing, burnouts and such be a social behaviour? i mean... drag racing invloves a number of people... your meeting new people... sharing a comon interest with them... maybe even stopping to have a chat with them.

whats antisocial about that?

hahah

(btw im just being a smart arse. I dont condone any of that behaviour)

what about if u do burnouts and street race with all your mates? thats socialising...

on a serious note, three warnings is decent, but on the other hand, whats to stop them labelling something as hooning when its really not, and chalking up a hoon offence....which puts you 1 step closer to a MASSIVE FINE (losing your car)

man im so joining the police force, i can see it now....

*me sitting in unmarked car on side of the road......bugatti veyron cruises past doing 60 in an 80 zone

BAM! i pull him over "excuse me sir, im sorry im going to have 2 confiscate your vehicle, u r being very anti-social"

"ummmm how so?"

"well for starters, u didnt run me when i pulled up next to you, u merely kept to yourself, need i say more. now if you wouldnt mind vacating the vehicle sir" driver gets out and waves down a taxi

*ardie jumps in veyron and takes off into the sunset.....strippers run out into the street and are showered in cream as fireworks start erupting

id say they would have to have proof... they cant just say...

omg i caught this guy hooning... and thats all there is too it.

I've been booked for similar evils.

And you know what it comes down too?

Your word against the Officers word.

Who is the one belived regardless? The Officer

Who is the one punished? Me, who was actually innocent.

Like i said, its your word against thiers. Helps if you have a passenger, but not always. And if there are two officers.

Your grave has been dug before you start.

If they wanna bring in such laws like this. They should fix the abuse of the laws at the same time

thats exactly what i was getting at. its all well and good for these laws to come in...but if they get abused, some people are going to get seriously FKED over.

you have to remember, this can be a $30k+ fine in a lot of peoples cases

As if u have every been innocent of anything ash!!! :D:)

Only one innocent is me, hence the username :w00t:

But yes the laws are way too vague, theres gotta be some guidelines or else cops will just make it up as they go along like they do with all other road laws

I thought you username was Instant...

I dont do burn outs etc, but im quite sure under the new laws excessive engine noise and exhaust noise is regarded as being a hoon. My car is loud and theres not much i can do about it. If i get done 3 times for having a loud exhaust not doing burn outs etc they are going to cop it, there getting back a fckn shell. A high speed chase would also be fun :)

haha i reckon if they are going to go to extreme measures i might aswell. Sure enough if i was doing a burn out fair enough (very unlikley) but if they want to take my car away for having a loud exhaust which ive tried to shut up a few times lol they can try to catch me if they can.

obviously im just joking >_<

    • I was using the wiring diagram I have So 12.74V is coming into the rear Fuel Pump relay as I measured.  When I turn the key to ON im getting 0.6V to the Fuel Pump plug; which i assume is backfeed voltage and doesnt include the 12V from ignition power.  The rear relay is working and being triggered.  From the diagram I clearly see the rear relay 80 = Rear Relay going into the Body/H loom (R-27) 27 = Fuel Pump plug going into the Body/H loom (T-20) 40 = Short Connector (R-27) I'm reading 12.74V on the blue/black wire which is the power for the Fuel Pump   From this diagram I can see the Ignition relay goes into the front and up to the ignition  2 = Fuel Pump Relay <1M> (R-27) 37 = ING Relay <1M> I started from the pump using this reference Which the way I read it (referencing Nissan wiring color codes) is: Pin Wire Color Function 1 B/P (Black/Pink) Ground 2 L/W (Blue/White)        ECU Trigger 3 SB (Sky Blue) Fuel Pump 5 L/B (Blue/Black) 12V Constant Tested SB to SB on Fuel Pump for continuity - confirmed Tested negative on Fuel Pump to 12V battery and L/B - confirmed 12V Pulled the relay putting 12V between Pin 1 & 2 and testing continuity on Pin 3 & 4 - confirmed relay   So that has me looking at this part of the circuit to understand whats happening here...and im still confused. From best I can tell; the disconnect is back to my previous diagram; between Ignition Relay and Fuel Pump Relay...which yet again; afaik is where the immobiliser should.    Thats what I was trying to explain to GTSboy; im not trying to fix it myself; yet I seem to have to get a Masters in Electrical Engineering (while im busy doing my actual job of DevOps & Cloud Engineering) somehow.  I just wanted more expert opinions; or more so that what I tested is correct and proves it to something around that area; to go back to the alarm tech (for a 3rd time) that he needs to fix it. He keeps telling me its not the alarm. He lives on the complete other side of the city so i understand not wanting to make a trip but as I said before if its the alarm it should be up to him to fix it. But he's adament its not; even though I pointed out the FP was immobilised through the original alarm. To my mind; it seems that the ECU is sending the signal; but the ignition is not getting 12V down the line.
    • Maybe also really stiffly sprung track cars. Get the inside wheel up in a corner and all the fun stops. Also me sometimes (rarely) when I have to stand on the brake to convince the diff to drive the wheel that is still on the ground when I'm trying to diagonally get over severe driveway entrance, etc.
    • I feel like I'm missing something. You had an authorised installer come out and install a new alarm. Post install the car doesn't start, and you aren't getting the installer back to fix what they did wrong?
    • So either way it is gearbox out and look what is wrong?  I know about the input shaft bearing. Even before swap/new clutch the it sounded exactly like this: So is that inout shaft bearing or the other was installed backwards?  And can some please tell me the part number for that input shaft bearing? The gearbox is small box from R34 N/A and number is FS5W71C. Thank you
    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
