I'm looking at getting a new front mount intercooler kit for my R32 GTS-T and have never bought one before

Just looking for experienced peoples opinions on these two kits that are available from various forum traders. Which kit is the best vale for money and the best quality and also if anyone has fitted these kits to a 32 tell us what u think of them and their specs etc if possible.

-All posts appreciated cheers everyone!!!

The Greddy M-Spec cores are the same intercoolers as the Just Jap Type 2 intercoolers only their kits are $499 for forum members.

I would imagine performance differences between them would be negligible

^^^ A friend of mine installs coolers.. He told me that justjap type 1 coolers are much better fit than type 2s..

Anyways back on topic.. I would go for Greedy. Just for the brand name sake and coolness!! heheh

i fitted a hybrid copy kit to my r33, paid $400 for the full kit and certainly no complaints here. excellent value for money. Cant see the advantage a Greddy/HKS/Hybrid kit would give me.....

Which coolers retain the stock intercooler piping where pipes from both end tanks return to where the stock cooler is attached to?

So far I know Blitz, and AVO has them...

Any more brands guys?

Trust / GReddy SPL-V ( have one in my car ).

I bought a couple of r32 kits from gktech on ns.com - ended up being $380 delivered.

If you're going for a low range intercooler I don't see the dilemma... $380 vs $750??

If you're going for a showcar/high power or have money to pay the premium you get then get the greddy.

There's no way the China kits are as good looking quality wise but we're only talking finish if you're looking at an entry level cooler.

If it was my own car I'd be looking to use a Calsonic made GTR cooler in good condition and get a el cheapo China piping kit, but that's just me.

Trust Spec-M = China Kit with Trust branding stamped all over it.

While I prefer Japanese made parts, if I was in the market for a typical type intercooler for a GTS-T and I knew that there was virtually no difference between a Trust Spec-M and the other China origin kits around, I couldnt justify spending the extra money for nothing but a name.

I didn't know it was made in China.

Fair enough my point still stands though - if you NEED a $750-$2000 kit get one. If you don't car or just need something for 200rwkw then get the forum sponsor nonames.

I'd still be going the Calsonic >_<

I think we need confirmation on this Chinese core..

Consider it confirmed, the Trust Spec-M intercooler is manufactured in China or Taiwan, I forget which.

Same intercooler as the Type 2 core from Just Jap, only with a higher price tag and a Greddy plate aboard.

Yes the Mspec is made in China, but it's made to Trust/Greddy quality, they wouldn't risk their reputable name selling an inferior product. So although they’re made in china, (also making them cheaper) there quality is of all Greddy products. For what it's designed for it's perfect, if your chasing big big horsepower it's obviously not going to be the intercooler of choice. Any way I’ll confirm what a post said above, these kits have been very very popular and there on back order, i think there struggling to keep up with demand.

Struggling to keep up with demand? Not quite. They had only just been announced when forum traders here started offering them, and the reason nobody had them was they hadnt even finished production. They are only just becoming available in Japan stores now

    • A 1.5 way is a 2 way. It is just a 2 way with a less aggressive ramp on overrun.
    • The ABS and/or TCS being missing/broken will not cause the engine to misbehave. It just casues CEL to come on and annoy you. The CEL is useless if it is always on, so you have to do the things you have to do to get rid of it, so it can be useful. Being a Stag ECU, then yes, it will not expect TCS to be present. But it will expect ABS to be present and working. You will need to either make the ABS CU talk to the ECU (don't ask me what that will take on an NA R34), and make sure the hardware is working....or, you just need to blank it out in Nistune. Do not persist with the stock ECU. You will just have problems. Gte it Nistuned. Start from there. DO YOU HAVE A BOOST SENSOR? The ECU's boost sensor that it. It is connected to the loom at the rear of the coil cover. Usually rides on the firewall on an R34, but is usually bolted down to a bracket along with all the other crap at the back of the coil cover when a Neo is dropped into another car. If you do not have it, the ECU will shit the bed. So, do you have one?
    • So sadly the fuel pump etc was not it. The pump and filter is new and it is still cutting around 4000 rpm. A read something about ABS/TCS (engine is from stagea and ECU too so no TCS) and i dont know for 100% that my car has ABS. It has ABS "cube" in engine bay but i dont think it works(or at least from my braking experience). Can be something like that?  I will be driving the car next week to Nistune tuner to properly see what is wrong...
    • the Tomei LSD fluid with lsd kit. frustrated that it was shaking the car to crap and affecting everything else negatively, I pulled the diff last night, and removed the lsd carrier, could not find anything wrong, however it seem to be 100 locked up acceleration, and deacceleration, wondering if they sent me a 2 way not a 1.5??  either way I installed the stock open carrier back in place. test drove everything smooth as butter again. no shake, shutter, random, what felt like clutch slip and grab or drive shaft play, etc. something differently wrong in side the lsd. I might bother taking it apart (if possible) to figure out what's going on inside this carrier, as bought too long ago to return.  only draw back is its back to a one wheel wonder.
