Hmm was just looking at my back tyres and there pretty low on tread so i need some new ones. Any suggestions on something in a 17" on 7" rims? About the $200 mark per tyre would be good, i dont have the money to buy another pair of $350 ones atm. If its not worth getting $200 tyres ill save, suggestions?

Take a look at the topic here http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=72923 about what tyres people recomend, you will see a few brands there that are with in your price range that will give you an idea.

if you are in Adelaide, and want prices PM me.

Try some of the Toyo T1R's. Shouldnt be too far off your price range in that size. If your in the eastern suburbs, give Paul a call at Edgars Tyrepower

I've been reading the other thread and by the sounds of it most people like the Toyo T1R's!

Might have to look into these myself :P

I've heard some good reports back on the T1R's, Give us a Post when you get them on to let us all know what you think of them.

Yeh, they sound ok, i might give em a run (although my family will kill me for not using goodyear/dunlops)

Sucks that SPMAXX"s are so dam expensive, will look dodgy having different tyres front to back :action-smiley-069:

Err what are you guys getting in the way of average tyre life on your average high end sports performance tyre anyway? I got about 4-5 months out of my SPMAXX's

hmm ive done 6000 k's on mine, and they are looking pretty sick (back have significantly less tread than front ones.. dunno why) but they grip just as well as they did when they were brand new some how. About half a second of spinnage, when i drop the clutch from 2.5k.. same as it was the day i got them new.. Weird

Dunlop 3000R's or 3000A's? i havn't heard of 3000r's b4

^^ just good??

If you got them, please give us more feedback..

cheers

hehe ok umm.. There is alot of talk in that tyre thread - http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=72923

These ratings are based on only two tyres ive used, Continental Sports Contact 2s and T1Rs

T1Rs:

Grips quite hard in dry. 9/10

In the wet it also grips very well. 8/10

Was on bells line one time, wet and foggy with crappy fronts (nearly worn) but the rears (T1R) stuck to the ground very well. N1GTR drove my car with the T1R on putty road in the wet he found the rears holding well, but the fronts werent, prolly coz his used to driving a GTR. For the price he'd rather get the Khumo ones. :

Havent noticed much tread wear, prolly coz I dont drive the car much these days.

The T1Rs use a soft compound compared to most say Continental Sports Contact 2s (I had these when I bought the car, in the wet and bold they were bad! Then again any bold tyre is in wet). T1Rs with a tyre rating of 280 I havent noticed much wear.

For the price $300 - 235/45/17 and $350 - 255/40/17

They are pricey. Might try some other tyres when these wear out. Maybe in a year or two ? lol

Just in case your interested according to some victorian police, SPMAXX's are in fact "racing slicks" and not legal.. Yep thats what i just got told and canaried for. I mean they are pretty low on tread but are legal by about 2 mil (work for a tyre company). And i got the same flipping tyres on the front, i mean come on -__-

Just found out i get 2 free tyres every 6 months though, so ill be putting some free SPMAXX's on the back.

    • Thanks, will do that.  Thankfully they still feel great.
    • Yeah man, absolutely. You can try pushing me all the way in swapping the R34 for an E9x M3
    • It's almost certainly going to be some amount of pads compound transfer onto the rotors. It will probably go away after you've run them for a bit. If not, pull it all out, lightly sand the rotors, scuff the pads, and rebed.
    • no one recommending speedtek gearsets?   i'm in the same boat as Cosline but rwd, I am holding boost back in third to 600nm at the hubs to save the gear as i make nearly 750nm at the hubs on a mainline
