bluesky4me
I have had two auto skylines, an r33 and now a stagea (triptronic) they both have had this problem of holding on to first gear for too long before changing. Can any one shed any light on this? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/127157-auto-trans-holding-1st-gear/ Share on other sites
32 4whore
How do u mean holding mate. My auto r32 holds it in 1st till about 3500 sometimes. but i only assume it does this because the engine is cold or i might be putting my foot down a bit to much. But i find it stays in 1st to long after i up change to 2nd when im giving it some. It takes to long for my gearbox to change to 2nd when im playing around. But besides that it is regularly normal. If u could explain how u are driving or if u are changing the gears urself. I would like to hear what the cause is anyway. WazR32GTSt
bluesky4me... you mean that when you put you foot down, it holds all the way to to 7500rpm or even more before changing? ather than changing at like 7000rpm where the redline begins? if so, this is normal.. if not, i don't know what you mean Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/127157-auto-trans-holding-1st-gear/#findComment-2350115 Share on other sites

gts25t4door
Do you have the "Power button" on. If I have mine on then it will do what you have described. Also check your transmission fluid levels as low levels can cause this. bluesky4me
I know its a bit hard to explain exactly...I will take the car for a spin and try to give some more info...to me it feels like the revs get to a certain point ( not red lining but with a decent amount of right foot)..the motor holds on at a point..it should change into second but it sits at that point..for too long then changes..I did read somewhere about taking your foot off the go pedal like driving a manual (with a triptronic)..I will try this also on the test drive. johnbela
My fluid levels are fine I just had a tranny serviced. It does it with power button on and off. Would a SAFC fix the problem? SECURITY
its actually a common problem with the autos. i've found that adjusting your TPS helps. if you searched (or scrolled down a few threads) you would've seen it Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/127157-auto-trans-holding-1st-gear/#findComment-2386151 Share on other sites

SECURITY
throttle position sensor. its the little black thing on the front side of the throttle body, its adjustable and if its out of wack it will effect when your car changes gears.
