Hey Everyone, this is a kind of warning to anyone going for a scenic drive in the Hinze Dam area... Last night we spotted boys in blue at Hinze Dam. What we don't know is if they have a new under cover car, or if it was just security guards posing as the real deal. This thing was an old V8 (kingswood prehaps?). The two guys were acting like police but something just didn't seem right, and it was dark so very hard to tell. We wern't going to stick around to find out anyway... Anyone seen this car around?

"Anonymous Skyline" hey...

Well you will all be interested to hear that on Friday a Mother and Son faced court posing as Police officers in the Warner/Cashmere area. They were local residents who were anoyed with the people speeding and making excessive noice in their local area.

They were caught by an off duty officer that they pulled over for speeding and were just going to give him a warning...

If people are posing as police officers and your not sure ask for their station suburb and their stations phone number.

You are then able to phone and ask if that person is on duty and patroling and you may also ask for the officer at the station to describe the officer as this is aparentlly more common than you think.

If their for real they will comply.

Thanks for the heads up - apart from anything else, if these guys are like the ones Col posted, it's a bit of a worry. If they're willing to pretend to be cops, they're obviously willing to break the law - and who knows, they might be willing to hurt you or damage your car unless you apologise profusely, give your "hoon" car to charity, buy a Prius and make it your life's mission to rid their neighbourhood of hoons.

Personally, as has been mentioned, if they do pull you over I'd be making a phone call to the local station - if they turn out not to be real cops, I'd be telling them to stick their vigilante crap where it fits and ensuring that the REAL cops were given as much info as possible. If they DO turn out to be real cops, you probably won't have anything to worry about.

rofl

If there's a huge problem in the area I can understand their motives but geez, how stupid are these people?

there are stories of cars being shot at out that way so do be careful who you start to fire up. there are a lot of wierdos living out that way as well as bikers who are more than happy to put a few boot dints in your panels...

amongst other things i have seen out that way, a naked person walking along the side of the road at night....

so just be careful out there people do some strange things when they are angry or frustrated, i have had rocks thrown at my car and i have the dints in my paintwork to prove it.

like i have said tho, there is supposed to be security guards contracted to patrol the hinze dam area and there was talk of the gates being closed off on the road after hours (ie no road access)

    • If there's enough meat in the housing where you want to put the M12 adapter, then do it, but be aware that if/when you f**k that up you'll probably be repairing it before doing anything else. I'd just drill it out and tap ina 1/4" thread. No need for rocket surgery when the next most obvious thing will do. You could throw a 1/4 x 1/8 bush in there and use the same fitting you intended to use.
    • Is the only issue that the oil catch can is getting filled on hard runs? I'd be thinking more about oil control issues rather then the head lifting, especially as you aren't seeing spiking in the coolant pressure.  Do you need restrictors in the head, or better drains from the head? Does the sump need venting to the catch can?
    • Tried to make 1/8npt threads into compressor house of the turbo for my EBC. Threads got fu#ked and ended up with and elongated hole, so I do have good amount and nice threads 90% of the hole but 10% I only had 1-2threads there and rest of it is flush on that side of the hole.. So my idea is to do M12 x 1.25 to AN4 with braided lines instead of 1/8npt to 4mm vacuum silicone hose.  and hopefully get a better thread. M12 is quite big and AN4 is a little bit bigger than 4mm (4.9mm inner diameter braided PTFE hose). but this should work. Thoughts? Otherwise I will weld and adapter onto the turbo.
