Well from my experience they check the rego sticker for car information?

Also - can anyone else confirm that rego stickers for S2 skylines are 1600KG? (I presume they are all the same?).

i dont think you're going to get off on the rego sticker....as far as cops are concerned, R33 GTS-T's are over the power to weight limit (and they're correct)

But it would help with the argument that the car is 'legal', especially if the officer isn't 100% certain. Would help even more if you had a GTS rego sticker, just say "errmm no, my car is a GTS not a GTST" :(

You have an S2 don't you? Able to quickly check? :(

yeah i could check, but i really do not see the point

you're saying you want to register your car as something its not, to beat a possible $100 fine...

if you dont want to take the risk, get an R32

Well if the car's registration actually says that it is 1600KG, and the S2 Skyline on stock specs makes it possible for a P plater to drive, doesn't that mean the car perfectly legal?

Just because GTST's aren't legal, doesn't mean that all variations are illegal too. I think if your rego sticker stated the weight of the car was fine for the power to weight ratio, the coppers would feel a little un easy giving you a fine.

well i think its obvious the sticker is wrong...and given the fact that its well known ALL R33 GTS-T's are over the limit

my cousins VX clubsport has about 1250kg on the rego sticker....and i think we know thats a very ambitious figure....

It's a good point... If the sticker said it's a GTS, then they surely couldn't fine me for driving a GTST? (Even if it is, how would they be 100% sure).

Who knows. Some cops are assholes I guess.

EDIT - Yeah, I'll just take my chances. See millions of skylines with P plates up, hopefully I can just fit into the crowd... :(

its like beating my head against a wall..

I'll put it as simply as possible.

ALL R33 GTS-T's are OVER the power to weight limit. If you are on your P's in Victoria, and are caught driving one, the cop has every right to fine you for doing so. There is NO WAY to beat the rule.

If you want to attempt to register your car as a GTS, then by all means go for your life...just be sure to tell vic roads that the engine number is wrong, and then be ready to answer the barrage of questions that follows....

:(

lol...

Relax, it was just an idea that came to mind. You said it's not possible/etc. I believe you. I probably wouldn't have tried even if there was a high chance of it been possible.

As I said, I'll just take my chances. A lot of others seem to get away with it, so hopefully I can too.

thats more like it

I'm a p plater. my car is over the power to weight ratio (by SFA but its still over). I knowingly break that particular law, everytime i drive my car.

If i happen to get done for it, then so be it. I will not argue with it whatsoever as its pointless, and will lead to the officer getting me for everything else under the sun as well.

Im yet to be pulled over in my car....however, drive like an idiot will give them more reason than they already have to pull you over, and then it'll be time to bend over.

You're probably one of the first P plater skyline drivers I have heard of who hasn't been pulled over.

Hopefully they don't get you either.

Guess it depends on what area you're from, how you drive and just how lucky you are really...

    • Ok so after much research and talking with knowledgeable people I've got my turbo conversion done and it's all running great other than 1 small issue.  Car has remained auto with the na auto and tcm, I've used a stagea ecu with. NIstune board and everything is great other than my gear selection on the dash. It illuminates park, reverse, neutral, 3rd and 2nd. But nothing drive or what gear your in when you pop it into tiptronic.  I'm sure there is may e 1 wire in the ecu plug I need to move to rectify this. Dose anyone here have any ideas?   Cheers guys
    • Sorry I haven't been following all the detail, so you may have tried this. Does it idle with the tiniest bit of throttle you can add? You've mentioned the IACV, does it have an AAC valve and have you adjusted it at all (ie, screw the idle adjust screw all the way in, then back it out a couple of turns until idle is stable)?
    • My bad, I unplugged the one underlined in red instead of yellow before. With the car started, after unplugging the IACV (the one underlined in yellow), it idled at around 400/500 for 3 seconds before stalling. Attempting to start the car without the IACV will not start the car.   It does stutter and sputter for around 5 seconds before dying. However, immediately after starting it, you can already hear some slight sputters from the exhaust.   It won't start with the AFM unplugged. If it is when the car has already started, it stalls in a few seconds.   Yesterday, I did take some logs using Nistune of 3 scenarios. Car idling till it stalls Car idling and unplugging the IACV Car idling and removing the AFM I also have some previous logs of when the Car is idling till it stalls and when driving and it cuts. I am not really knowledgeable enough to understand what to look for. After every test, car idles rougher and rougher, until I have to stop. It will be fine the day after.
    • There is no difference between a 17x8 and an 18x8. The total diameter of the tyre needs to remain +/- the same (so you don't mess up the gearing, speedo reading, and clearance when turning front wheels..... so you just need to use a lower profile tyre on th 18 than you do on the 17. /rocket surgery.
    • I thought the same to start with. But then I thought it was one of those LCAs where the end of the ARB goes through a bushing in the LCA itself, instead of having an end link.
