G'day all,

First time ive popped into the VIC section!

My reason is im travelling up from good 'ol Hobart to collect my S2 R33 from Holfords motors in spotswood in a few weeks time. I'm just catching a midweek morning flight up to catch the spirit of tas home that night.

As i'm already pushing s*&t uphill to pay for the car, wondering whats the cheapest way to get from tullamarine airport to holfords, ie. bus to CBD first? i mean i wouldnt say no to a pickup :D

Cheers, Bart.

Whereis.com does acctually show the best way and it is relly easy because its all freeways...

but if you looking for a pick up, best to just come out and ask... maybe a small donation for a good samaritan could sway somebody?

:D

Convert the car to a boat less traffic :)

^^^^^^^^Seems everyone has a good idea for the quickest way, anybody done a wreckie and timed it, just teasing.

Cheers Andrew :O

I'm more than willing to reimburse whatever it costs to come pick me up, only trouble is that i dont have an exact date for when the car will be ready, makes it difficult.

Just looking at the calender, it should be ready by the 29th / 30th, anybody free during either one of those mornings?? :O:D

Cheers, Bart.

Did I hear you say you'd be bringing your prospective taxi driver a case of Tasmania's finest brewery goodness as a good will gesture?

I'm sure someone may be able to find themselves running from Tulla to Spotswood during the week for you

How much notice will you be able to give? If i have enough notice and no other commitments, i'll give you a lift. Just cover the Airport parking fee, etc, and i'll be happy to help out.

Plan to come to Tassie soon, for a nice week-long drive :), so i'm sure i'll need your help with something :).

Its domestic, hang at the McDonalds and drive up when he rings you. :)

Good offer though. :)

I'll hopefully have a concrete date on monday arvo, id be able to give at least a weeks notice though. Im sure you can be taken on a tour of some of tassies more scenic areas, might give me a chance to take the new car for a decent length drive! You will have a PM monday evening :D

Cheers, Bart.

Just letting you know; on the weekend of the 25th, 26th and 27th i'll be in Shepparton, for SAU VIC's DECA day.

The weekend after (Sat. 2nd September) we have a SAU VIC members cruise (according to the SAU VIC events calender). You have unfortunately picked a busy period to pick up your car.

You mentioned 29th and 30th, these are work days and i will not be able to take time off work, so it all depending on what time you arrive.

Just let me know time and date, and i'll do my best

Might be a crazy idea but to save you some $$, wouldnt it be easier for someone to put it on the boat this side for you and collect it that end. You then save flights and the logistics of getting from the airport to Spotswood.

I am also assuming you can put a car on a boat with no passenger.

yeah good thinking, but im not sure you can put a car on the boat without a passenger, and id still need to get to devonport somehow to collect it ( i live in hobart). going to collect it is half the experience for me, but just trying to keep costs down.

Cheers, bart

    • My bad, I unplugged the one underlined in red instead of yellow before. With the car started, after unplugging the IACV (the one underlined in yellow), it idled at around 400/500 for 3 seconds before stalling. Attempting to start the car without the IACV will not start the car.   It does stutter and sputter for around 5 seconds before dying. However, immediately after starting it, you can already hear some slight sputters from the exhaust.   It won't start with the AFM unplugged. If it is when the car has already started, it stalls in a few seconds.   Yesterday, I did take some logs using Nistune of 3 scenarios. Car idling till it stalls Car idling and unplugging the IACV Car idling and removing the AFM I also have some previous logs of when the Car is idling till it stalls and when driving and it cuts. I am not really knowledgeable enough to understand what to look for. After every test, car idles rougher and rougher, until I have to stop. It will be fine the day after.
    • There is no difference between a 17x8 and an 18x8. The total diameter of the tyre needs to remain +/- the same (so you don't mess up the gearing, speedo reading, and clearance when turning front wheels..... so you just need to use a lower profile tyre on th 18 than you do on the 17. /rocket surgery.
    • I thought the same to start with. But then I thought it was one of those LCAs where the end of the ARB goes through a bushing in the LCA itself, instead of having an end link.
    • Yeah - I mean, go the other way. Smaller range. Not larger.
    • To re-cap, I bought: https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Lsailt-8G-Infiniti-Q50-Q60-2014_1601171829627.html?spm=a2756.trade-list-buyer.0.0.2cd476e9FTIlKE As you can see, if I bought 20 it was $653, but I bought 1 so it was $1,170. I was very tempted to buy 2 and resell 1 at 25% cheaper. @MBS206, I am not sure if they do a Kluger one, here is their list but it might be there under a global model name: http://www.lsailt.com/product/android-interface?page=1 Keep in mind these full android replacements have basically all the bits a phone does (cpu, ram, storage, wifi, bluetooth, usb interfaces) other than a screen (it uses a host), thus the $800+ cost. Android Auto screen mirroring is MUCH cheaper as it's just a cut down shell, input mirroring and output mirroring BTW I also need that "screen off" feature, it is much harder to see wildlife even if a dash is reasonably dark. Both the Fuga and V37 have display off buttons for night use, they just come back on for a second or 3 if you interact with it, eg skip a song.
