i blew the stock ones so i went and bought atop condition set which were steel wheel and abit bigger

they have been in storage for ages so he part numbers are pretty much useless, tis is what gcg told me,

all i can say is that compared to the stock ones the front comp cover is the same size, but the wheel is about 5 cm bigger , the rear housing is a .63 item which is 1 size up from the standard one and the rear wheel is about 8 cm bigger that the stock one,

i pulled off the standard ones myself and installed the new ones doing nothing bodgy, and it always runs 12 psi, but for some reason it spools about 3500 rpm and doesnt really kick in until 6000rpm, the thrbos are rated at 350hp each but i really dont think that upgrading to this size over the stock ones would affct the lag issue from full boost at 3.5rpm to now 6000rpm, this is bullshit

the car has a cat back wiv guted cat and a fuel pump, still got stock front pipe and dumps and stock ecu....

the new turbos are pretty much the same if not abit bigger than n1 items.

could it be wastegate actuators or what??

the car used to go well before with the stock turbos but now it goes harder only over 5500 6000 rpm,

i didnt touch nothing on the timing side of things and all i did was remove turbs and replace.

have you had the engine checked ( compession, leakdown) ? You may have stuffed bores from ceranic dust.

Not knowing exacly what turbos you have i wouldnt be able to tell you when a healthy engine would boost.

Get a ruler out of your draw.

Measure 8cm's and add that onto the stock wheel size... you will soon realise that it cant possibly fit into a housing of that size.

So it kinda answers itself really, no need to get angry :)

You really need to have the turbos inspected IMO.

By what your saying, you have no idea what they are. So people can only offer random suggestions as without knowing what sort of turbos are on there, no-one can accurately say you actually have a problem or not. That might be exactly how those turbos work.

You cant accurately say otherwise if you think the rear wheel is approx 12cm in size as i would be exceptionally doubtful of that :rofl:

Also on that, changing turbos and still using:

Stock Pipes

Stock ECU

Stock Cam Gears

Really isnt going to help the situation either

there's a science to rear AR's fella as ina mathamatical calcualtion per CC of the engine , get this wrong and it will spool early for less peak power or larger power which comes on late like your stating ...

hey take it easy - I'm just trying to figure out how the wheels can be 5cm and 8cm LARGER than the originals and fit in the housings...

I think these measurements are actual sizes and not the increase in size(Bad Sentence Construction)

Also very rude to get a comeback of that nature to a response that was confused about the sentence.

You have been unlucky. I believe you could have the gt-rs turbos or -10 Garrett Turbos making it

a really laggy turbo set up. Now you need to get some dumps, and computer to get them to spool

earlier.

What did you/they mean in saying the part numbers are useless? Useless as in they dont correspond to the actual specs of the turbos or useless as in they cant be seen/read?

I assume your wheel size comparo is meant to be millimetres and not cms as well?

the turbos are gcg built so i rang them up and and quoted the part numbers and they said they were old and wouldnt be able to track down 2 much about them

ive looked at a ruler and by goin off the standard ones i can say these figures are still a guess but more close to bieng the sizes i was trying 2 explain before

rear housing .63

rear wheel is around 10 to 15 mm bigger in total, so 5mm to 7.5mm from centre to end

front wheel is about 10mm bigger in total and same again, 5mm from centre 2 housing,

i really didnt think these sizes would increase the lag as it has,

compression is a healthy 150 dead even over all 6.

the best way for me 2 describe the way it drives is its really laggy in boost up till 9, 10 psi, then it starts taking off, but by the time it is mooving its on 5500, 6000 rpm, the turbos are making boost at 3500rpm 4000rpm but u cant feel the shit until 5500, 6000.

its like driving a s14 or s15 wiv the vct unplugged.. shit down low and then suddenly after a certian rev range off it goes.

i was inking maby it could be the computer, gone fully retarded and rich , coz its sucking some juice bad,

have you had the GTR on a dyno to see afr's?

i pulled it off tap, and went for a drive, just feathering the pedal.

the thing is that i held it flat and its not pingin or nuthin, no afm cutout, but it still has the same shit response.and boost only hits in hard at teh same rpm as b4, no increase in downlow power.

i did this just 2 see if my theory was correct, i put it back 2 normal.

He has a N1GTR Motor in a 34gtt , he has boost coming in at around 5500RPM.Nismoid said it was because

the old N1 Turbo's are designed to spool up around there. The interesting thing is he hates this aswell.

The recommendations where to change the turbo's or get some dumps if i recall right. I suspect the units you might have bought are simmiler to these.

NI turbos will develop over 1 bar at 4,250 rpm if tuned correctly. As usual there are 3 things that he needs tot do..........tuning, tuning, tuning.

He had the old N1 turbo's these spool up at 5000RPM Plus. Yes the new N1 Turbo's spool alot earlier

as you have stated.

    • Even more fun, leave all the ADAS stuff plugged in, but in different locations, hopefully avoid any codes!   And honestly, all these new cars with their weird electronics. Pull all the electronics out Duncan, and just shove an aftermarket ECU and if needed a trans controller in, along with a PDM. Make it run basic but race car styled!
    • To follow up a question from earlier too since I had the front bar off again (fking!) This is what is between the bumper and the drivers side wheel And this is the navigator side, only one thing but its a biggy! So basically....no putting coolers in the wheel arches without a lot of moving other stuff. Assuming I move to properly race prepping this car I'll take that job on and see how the computers respond to removing a whole bunch of ADAS modules
    • So I prepped the car for another track day on Wednesday (will be interesting to see coolant temps post flushing out and the larger reservoir, with a forecast of 3-14 being 20o cooler than last time I took it out). Couple of things to mention; since I am just driving the car and not taking a support vehicle, I took the rear seats out and just loaded the back up Team Trackday style. Look at all that space! To cover off removing the rear seat....it is weird (note the hybrid is probably different because it wouldn't have folding rear seats) Basically, you remove the lower seat base, very similar to a r series but it is a clip that pulls forward to release the base rather than it being bolted down. Easy Then, you need to remove the side section of the rear seat on each side. There is a 14mm head nut at the bottom of the side piece, the it slides upwards off a hook at the top to release; you also need to unhook the seatbelt from the loop at the top. Then the centre piece is weird. You need to release/fold the seats forward with the tab in the boot on each side From there, there are 2,x12mm headed bolts holding the rear of each seat to the folding bracket, under the trim between the rear seat and the boot (4x christmas tree clips there, they suck). The seat is out but you can see where the bolts attach to the bracket
    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year. 
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
