hey guys, i'm picking up my skyline from melbourne tonight, however he's been told he needs an Airbox on for the RWC.

Now i can't borrow his mates one here in Canberra.

The quesiton is, am i likely to get pulled up on it here in Canberra at Dickson? Is there someone i can talk to about getting it sorted out here?

Should be fine.

I would be more worried about the front mount intercooler to be honest.

Although me and my mate went thru dickson with his car with a massive front mount and no reo bar and a massive mouth cut out of the front bar and they didnt really care..

As long as your not too loud and your ground clearance is ok then you'll be sweet.

I just past my rego today ;):D:D and i have FMIC, pod and some other things. All you need is to get a rego inspection before you go over the pits at dickson. Try paul whyte automotive in gungahlin, very good. If you need to quite down your exhaust let me know as i have a custom quite piece of shit but already put my cannon back on :D.

Rego? or interstate move?

My "cockpit" looks like so

Is the PFC Hand Controller and Boost Controller going to cause "dramas"? Should i hide them (or disconnect totally for the inspection etc..)

Regarding Exhaust Noise, unless someone pushes past about 3 - 3.5k you are never going to notice it. Lovely piece of work.

Also will the steering wheel cause any problems?

Hide the PFC hand controller and remove the pictures from the forum.

Aftermarket ECU's are a big no-no... sometimes they will get you for it, other times they wont.

Steering wheel will be fine as long as its secure and it wasnt an airbag model and has had the airbag removed.

Doesn't the boss kit have to be collapsible or something? At least I remember hearing something like that

I thought the only requirement was a collapsable steering column which Nissan built in factory (as every other car does). Could be wrong though :P

I do remember going over Dickson though and horn button was removed to confirm the wheel had been bolted on properly.

Both, i had to change it to ACT and also register it in my name.

They reved mine on 3k for about 5 seconds when i got my RWC. He said it might pass but when i got to dickson they were like "nope too loud".

Why did you have to go to Dickson to get inspected?

According to the ACT RTA site all you need to do is visit an authorised inspection station and then pay for your rego.

I am in the process of buying a car from NSW and it has rego in NSW for 10 months.

I want to cash what there is left of rego in nsw and re register it in the ACT. but when I checked on the rego site all it said is take it to an authorised inspection station and get it pinkslipped and then pay at the act shopfront.

I thought that all private imports/modified vehicles have to go to Dickson, only standard cars can get away with going elsewhere.

By modified I mean modified and requiring an engineer's certificate

Please note that, vehicles over 4.5 tonne GVM, public vehicles, modified vehicles, imported vehicles or vehicles without compliance plates MUST attend the Dickson Motor Registry.

There was a discussion about this recently. To the letter of the law it must go to Dickson, but some staff at the motor registry/canberra connect arent really aware of this rule which is why they say take it to any authorised inspection station.

    • Have a vb in honour of the car comming back
    • It was a great, but typical track day, and some VB was ingested at the night time debrief 🤪
    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.
