Morgan Park And Other Track(lakeside?) Track Days.

Recommended Posts

I'm working on something as well for Morgan Park.

As for Lakeside, that is still a wait and see who wins the management of the facility. They did a few trial days etc, but atm nothing is happening there. If it becomes possible we may go there too.

They run a great series out at Morgan Park, called the QLD SuperSprint Series. I'll dig up some contact details if you want? There are 2 series A and B, each consisting of 4 rounds over the year and utilising some of the different layouts available there. Its very cheap - last time I did it in 2004 it was $88 per weekend! They are 2 day events. Its a Supersprint format with 2 cars taking off side by side from a standing start, and 4 cars on the track at once. Its up to you wether you race with the other car or not. passing is permited. Supersprints are seen as the stepping stone to circuit racing. I'll be doing the series again next year.

cars don't have to be log booked or have a cage. only need a CAMS L2S licence. They do run to CAMS categories, eg Improved Production, Sport Sedans etc, but they will find somewhere for you to run if you don't quite fit the rules of Improved Production - sport sedans or maybe marque sports or thundersports. Its a popular series so you have to register by the end of the year if you want to get into next year's events. I haven't had a look for their contact details yet...

Which club runs that series? I'm still figuring out what car i want to use next year but i'll keep it in mind. Morgan Park is only an hour from here and looks to be a much more interesting track than QR (haven't seen it in the flesh though).

it's a much more interesting track! Warwick District Sporting Car Club run the series. Teresa Campbell is the Event Secretary (or was last time I ran there).

fill out the form from the cams website and send it in with your money was $79 i believe.

Just watch the turn onto the main straight, if you mess it up, go through too quick, understeer or oversteer out wide....you grab your balls and close your eyes and pray as best as you can!

Last month, two days before the short circuit meeting there it claimed a rather nice 32gtr...i cried when i heard about it...

you need to be a member of a CAMS affiliated club first. Warwick District Sporting Car Club can help you out there too, or go to http://www.cams.com.au/Content.asp?PageID=Clubs and search for other clubs in QLD. Some of the other cheap ones are MGCCQ, NDSCC, HSCC, SPARC. best way is to join a club, they'll have the form and you can pay them and get a temp licence on the spot until the official one comes through from CAMS.

as far as other tracks go, there is Carnell Raceway at Stanthorpe, which is a good fun little track. I'm not sure of the club that runs events out there, but its probably STANTHORPE & DISTRICT SPORTING CAR CLUB.

There is obviously Mt Cotton Hillclimb too. www.mgccq.org.au

IWMAC run Autocross events on a smooth graded dirt (decomp granite) racetrack at Ipswich too - right next to QR.

We had one event at Norwell (owned by Holden) a few years ago, but they soon put a stop to that. Apparently a few cars that had 'offs' during the day ruined their nice manicured lawn infeild...

Lakeside may be up and running again soon, and that's an awesome track

there may be some hillclimbs held at Warwick next year too - according to some rumours from locals...

    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
