hey guys, whch exhaust should i get for my r34? i do not want a loud ass exhaust, i want something that flows very good and sounds good and isnt that loud,

i been quoted for a xforce 3` turbo back for $900 new

how is that compared with say jap exhausts?

any other recommendations?

most of it's going to come down to personal taste.

If all you want is a zorst to get the gas from the engine to out the back, then X-force is great value for money. Sure, the steel isn't as high quality, and the sound may seem 'tinny' to some, but hey, what does it matter, and for $900, turbo back, it's great value.

The other laternative is to get a bigger dump/front pipe (some in group buys) a high flow cat (ditto) and a jap cat back (pick your flavour... Apexi (or Apexera if you're being technical) HKS, Kakimoto......whatever)

The cost will be at least $300 for the pipe, about that again for the cat, and $900 for the cat back, which should include all gaskets.

So X-force will cost you $900, Something like an HKS silent will cost about $1500 if you import the cat back from nengun and buy the other bits on group buy.

Is the extra $600 (or so) worth it for a better sound, and better steel?

If so, go for it!

If not, well, you get the idea.

I went for the second option and got the HKS high power silent (though how an exhaust this loud can be called silent is open to question) and love it. I think the performance differences are negligable between different brands, provided they have the same width, and similiar straightness.

just pick your poison.

Look on Ebay you can get full stainless apexi systems for $1000. Go to the buy section and type in R34 or R33 heaps of shit there.

lol most ebay stuff are fake tho

:D

Get one made up , that way you know what parts went into getting it done.

I have dumps HKS (2) ,3" High flow cat, 3' by aprox 1 foot Resinator and Hot dog X-force with Silencer.

I think with this I can stay under the radar. You can remove the silencer on the track.

All was made up for me with my steel choice :)

i have a 3` catback atm, but my rear muffler is only a 2.5` should i just get a hi flow cat and dump + front and a new muffler installed? but gettin these parts and fitted would set me back around 4-500 or i should just buy a the whole xforce system instead? bcoz i could easily sell my current catback for 500, that way i have a brand new exhaust system

    • So either way it is gearbox out and look what is wrong?  I know about the input shaft bearing. Even before swap/new clutch the it sounded exactly like this: So is that inout shaft bearing or the other was installed backwards?  And can some please tell me the part number for that input shaft bearing? The gearbox is small box from R34 N/A and number is FS5W71C. Thank you
    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
